Nowadays, despite improvements in safety rules and inspections in the metal industry, foundry workers are not free from burn accidents. Injuries caused by molten metals include burns secondary to molten iron, aluminium, zinc, copper, brass, bronze, manganese, lead and steel. Molten aluminium is one of the most common causative agents of burns (60%); however, only a few publications exist concerning injuries from molten aluminium.

Pretransplantation biopsies of kidney grafts have become a key to select organs suitable for transplantation from marginal donors. The main microscopic features to be evaluated are as follows: percentage of glomerulosclerosis, interstitial fibrosis and vascular pathology. Although the percentage of glomerulosclerosis prognosticates kidney outcome, it has not yet been established what the age limit and type of kidney injury absolutely forbid the use of a particular organ.

The fibular free flap is seen as one of the foremost technical options in mandibular reconstruction, especially in those defects where long bone is required. Cases with squamous-cell carcinoma of the floor of the mouth with mandibular spread and subsequent segmentary mandibular removal are the cornerstone examples. A case of squamous-cell carcinoma of the whole floor of the mouth with mandibular invasion is reported.
