Article Synopsis
  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) patients exhibit unexplained symptoms, and prior studies suggest these may relate to a disrupted autonomic nervous system and less complex physical activity patterns compared to healthy individuals.
  • This study uses an advanced method to examine how the complexity of physical activity in seven CFS patients changes over three weeks, alongside assessments of their weekly functioning.
  • Results show significant fluctuations in activity complexity over time but failed to establish a consistent relationship between complexity and patient functioning, questioning the effectiveness of using a single complexity measurement to evaluate long-term activity in CFS patients.

In 2010, the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) created a set of common data elements (CDEs) to help standardize the assessment and reporting of imaging findings in traumatic brain injury (TBI). However, as opposed to other standardized radiology reporting systems, a visual overview and data to support the proposed standardized lexicon are lacking. We used over 4000 admission computed tomography (CT) scans of patients with TBI from the Collaborative European NeuroTrauma Effectiveness Research in Traumatic Brain Injury (CENTER-TBI) study to develop an extensive pictorial overview of the NINDS TBI CDEs, with visual examples and background information on individual pathoanatomical lesion types, up to the level of supplemental and emerging information (e.

Robotic kidney transplantation.

Nat Rev Urol

September 2024

Department of Urology, Fundació Puigvert, Autonomous University of Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain.

Kidney transplantation is the best treatment option for patients with end-stage renal disease owing to improved survival and quality of life compared with dialysis. The surgical approach to kidney transplantation has been somewhat stagnant in the past 50 years, with the open approach being the only available option. In this scenario, evidence of reduced surgery-related morbidity after the introduction of robotics into several surgical fields has induced surgeons to consider robot-assisted kidney transplantation (RAKT) as an alternative approach to these fragile and immunocompromised patients.

  • T-lineage acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) is a serious type of cancer that affects a significant percentage of children and adults, with poor outcomes for those who relapse or resist treatment.
  • Understanding the role of the proto-oncogene MYB is crucial as it is linked to increased T-ALL aggression and worse patient survival, particularly in pediatric cases.
  • This study reveals that high MYB levels drive T-ALL development and that targeting MYB's function could offer a promising new treatment approach.
