Objective: To evaluate the influence of pelvic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings on axial disease assessment in juvenile spondyloarthritis (JSpA).
Methods: This was a cross-sectional study of patients with JSpA with suspected axial disease. Three experts reviewed each case and rated their confidence (-3 to +3) in the presence of axial disease, first with clinical data and second with clinical and MRI data.

In the current paper, we will focus on requirements to ensure big data can advance the outcomes of our patients suffering from kidney disease. The associated ethical question is whether and how we as a nephrology community can and should encourage the collection of big data of our patients. We identify some ethical reflections on the use of big data, and their importance and relevance.

Introduction: Heterozygous pathogenic variants in NTRK2 (HGNC: 8032) have been associated with global developmental delay. However, only scattered cases have been described in small or general studies. The aim of our work was to consolidate our understanding of NTRK2-related disorders and to delineate the clinical presentation METHODS: We report extended cohort of 44 affected individuals, of whom 19 are from the literature and 25 were previously unreported.

Arterial hypertension is a major risk factor for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, and highly prevalent in older age, underscoring the importance of its appropriate management. The population is ageing at an increasing rate, with those aged 80+ years being the fastest growing population characterized by high heterogeneity in terms of functionality and autonomy. The prevalence of hypertension rises with increasing age, due to a significant increase in SBP largely as a result of age-related stiffening of the aorta and other large arteries, affecting almost 80% of those aged 80+ years.

Randomized clinical trials failed to show additional benefit of renal artery stenting on top of medical therapy. Instead of writing an obituary on renal artery stenting, we try to explain these disappointing results. A transstenotic pressure gradient is needed to reduce renal perfusion and to activate the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system.

Hypertensive disorders in pregnancy (HDP), remain the leading cause of adverse maternal, fetal, and neonatal outcomes. Epidemiological factors, comorbidities, assisted reproduction techniques, placental disorders, and genetic predisposition determine the burden of the disease. The pathophysiological substrate and the clinical presentation of HDP are multifarious.

Background: Fetal two-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography (2D-STE) is an emerging technique for assessing fetal cardiac function by measuring global longitudinal strain. Alterations in global longitudinal strain may serve as early indicator of pregnancy complications, making 2D-STE a potentially valuable tool for early detection. Early detection can facilitate timely interventions to reduce fetal and maternal morbidity and mortality.

Purpose: We assessed clinical outcomes of patients undergoing open hernia repair using STRATAFIX™ Symmetric, a barbed triclosan-coated suture (TCS; Ethicon), versus conventional polydioxanone suture (PDS) for abdominal wall closure.
Methods: This single-center retrospective cohort study identified patients undergoing hernia repair. The site used PDS from 2013 to 2016 and switched exclusively to barbed TCS in 2017.

Objective: We hypothesized that glucocorticoids would induce remission in very early Systemic Sclerosis patients by inhibition of inflammation driving the disease. We examined the efficacy and safety of methylprednisolone in very early Systemic Sclerosis.
Methods: In this trial adults with puffy fingers for less than three years, specific auto-antibodies and meeting the Very Early Diagnosis of Systemic Sclerosis criteria were randomly assigned (2:1) to methylprednisolone 1000 mg intravenously or placebo for 3 consecutive days 3 times with monthly intervals.

Background: Peritoneal dialysis (PD) offers quality of life and empowerment for persons with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD). Nevertheless, the prevalence of PD is low in Belgium and Europe in general. Reimbursement, patient mix and late referral have been quoted as underlying reasons.

Introduction: Time-efficiency of individually wrapped screws versus screws in a screw rack is not well established.
Materials And Methods: We performed a prospective single-center clinical study timing the interval between the surgeon asking and receiving a screw during plate and screw osteosynthesis of distal radius fractures. Patients were randomized for individually wrapped screws or screws in a screw rack.

Methods: A multi-institutional retrospective series of patients with IPNB undergoing surgery between January 2010 and December 2020 was gathered under the auspices of the European-African Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (E-AHPBA), and at Nagoya University Hospital, Japan.

Purpose: Outcomes for children with relapsed and refractory high-risk neuroblastoma (RR-HRNB) remain dismal. The BEACON Neuroblastoma trial (EudraCT 2012-000072-42) evaluated three backbone chemotherapy regimens and the addition of the antiangiogenic agent bevacizumab (B).
Materials And Methods: Patients age 1-21 years with RR-HRNB with adequate organ function and performance status were randomly assigned in a 3 × 2 factorial design to temozolomide (T), irinotecan-temozolomide (IT), or topotecan-temozolomide (TTo) with or without B.

Self-assessed will-to-live and self-rated health are associated with long-term survival in community-dwelling older persons but have not been examined in frailer older patients in relation to short-term prognosis. The aim was to explore whether will-to-live and self-rated health are predictive for six-month mortality and can guide ceiling of treatment decisions in hospitalized patients in an acute geriatric ward. We included the Surprise Question as reference, being a well-established clinical tool for short-term prognostication.

Background And Aims: We explored the potential for differential efficacy of vedolizumab between early and late ulcerative colitis [UC] with evaluation of clinical, endoscopic, and histological endpoints.
Methods: This was a multicentre, multinational, open-label study in patients with moderately-to-severely active UC, defining early UC by a disease duration <4 years and bio-naïve and late UC by a disease duration > 4 years and additional exposure to tumour necrosis factor antagonists. Patients received standard treatment with intravenous vedolizumab for 52 weeks [300 mg Weeks 0, 2, 6, every 8 weeks thereafter without escalation].
