Objectives: While neuropsychological effects of conventional antidepressants are well-documented, more research is needed for rapid-acting antidepressants. This study examines the effects of esketamine on emotion processing and cognitive functioning, both acutely and sub-chronically.
Methods: Eighteen treatment-resistant depression (TRD) patients received repeated intravenous esketamine infusions.

Background: Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a common neuro-developmental disorder that often persists into adulthood. Moreover, it is frequently accompanied by bipolar disorder (BD) as well as borderline personality disorder (BPD). It is unclear whether these disorders share underlying pathomechanisms, given that all three are characterized by alterations in affective states, either long or short-term.

Background And Purpose: Despite the fundamental role of pial collateral vessels in limiting the progression of ischemic tissue injury in acute stroke with large vessel occlusion (LVO), in addition to the fact that collateral vessel abundance varies naturally from person to person for genetic reasons, there is limited knowledge regarding potential factors contributing to inherent interindividual variation in pial collateral supply. As it has been repeatedly hypothesized that chronic carotid occlusive disease may favor pial collateralization, we aimed to investigate the association between quantitatively assessed leptomeningeal collateral supply and pre-existing carotid stenosis in patients with acute stroke due to LVO.
Materials And Methods: Patients with proximal middle cerebral artery (MCA) occlusion with or without additional internal carotid artery (ICA) occlusion were included.

Introduction: This study aimed to validate the Sargent risk stratification algorithm for the prediction of placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) severity using data collected from multiple centers and using the multicenter data to improve the model.
Material And Methods: We conducted a multicenter analysis using data collected for the IS-PAS database. The Sargent model's effectiveness in distinguishing between abnormally adherent placenta (FIGO grade 1) and abnormally invasive placenta (FIGO grades 2 and 3) was evaluated.

Background And Purpose: In acute ischemic stroke (AIS) due to large-vessel occlusion (LVO), the relationship between cerebral oxygen extraction fraction (OEF) as the hallmark of the ischemic penumbra and leptomeningeal collateral supply is not well established. We aimed to investigate the relationship between pial collateralization and tissue oxygen extraction in patients with LVO using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
Methods: Data from 14 patients with anterior circulation LVO who underwent MRI before acute stroke treatment were analyzed.

Introduction: Placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) can lead to major peripartum morbidity. Appropriate management approaches depend on the clinical severity, each individual's preference, and the treating team's expertise. Peripartum hysterectomy is the most frequently used treatment option.

Objective: Biomechanical modeling of infrarenal aortic aneurysms seeks to predict ruptures in advance, thereby reducing aneurysm-related deaths. As individual methods focusing on strain and stress analysis lack adequate discretization power, this study aims to explore multifactorial characterization for progressive aneurysmal degeneration. The study's objective is to compare stress- and strain-related parameters in infrarenal aortic aneurysms.

Background: A RCT of a novel intervention to detect antidepressant medication response (the PReDicT Test) took place in five European countries, accompanied by a nested study of its acceptability and implementation presented here. The RCT results indicated no effect of the intervention on depression at 8 weeks (primary outcome), although effects on anxiety at 8 weeks and functioning at 24 weeks were found.
Methods: The nested study used mixed methods.

Background: Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) is essential for antidepressant treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD). Our repeated studies suggest that DNA methylation of a specific CpG site in the promoter region of exon IV of the BDNF gene (CpG -87) might be predictive of the efficacy of monoaminergic antidepressants such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), and others. This trial aims to evaluate whether knowing the biomarker is non-inferior to treatment-as-usual (TAU) regarding remission rates while exhibiting significantly fewer adverse events (AE).

Introduction: Active malignancies have been identified as an independent risk factor for severity and mortality in COVID-19. However, direct comparisons between SARS-CoV-2-infected patients with active (acP) and non-active cancers (n-acP) remain scarce.
Patients And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed a cohort of cancer patients with PCR-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection, enrolled from March 16, 2020, to July 31, 2021.

Endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) is the primary treatment for abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs). To optimise patient safety during the standard EVAR procedure, we aimed to investigate the influence of patient anatomy on intraoperative radiation exposure and surgical time. This retrospective study comprised 90 patients (mean age 73.

Background: Individuals with bipolar disorder are commonly correctly diagnosed a decade after symptom onset. Machine learning techniques may aid in early recognition and reduce the disease burden. As both individuals at risk and those with a manifest disease display structural brain markers, structural magnetic resonance imaging may provide relevant classification features.

Knowledge on psychiatric comorbidity in adult ADHD is essential for prevention, detection, and treatment of these conditions. This review (1) focuses on large studies (n > 10,000; surveys, claims data, population registries) to identify (a) overall, (b) sex- and (c) age-specific patterns of comorbidity of anxiety disorders (ADs), major depressive disorder (MDD), bipolar disorder (BD) and substance use disorders (SUDs) in adults with ADHD relative to adults without ADHD; and (2) describes methodological challenges relating to establishing comorbidity in ADHD in adults as well as priorities for future research. Meta-analyses (ADHD: n = 550,748; no ADHD n = 14,546,814) yielded pooled odds ratios of 5.

Objectives: The analysis of wall strain opens new perspectives in the prediction of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) rupture. This study investigates the capability of four-dimensional ultrasound (4D US) to detect and characterize changes in wall strain in the same patients during follow-up observations.
Methods: Eighteen patients were examined by 64 4D US scans during a median follow-up period of 24.
