Introduction: With the advent of disease-modifying therapies, accurate assessment of biomarkers indicating the presence of disease-associated amyloid beta (Aβ) pathology becomes crucial in patients with clinically suspected Alzheimer's disease (AD). We evaluated Aβ levels in cerebrospinal fluid (Aβ CSF) and Aβ levels in positron emission tomography (Aβ PET) biomarkers in a real-world memory-clinic setting to develop an efficient algorithm for clinical use.

Methods: Patients were evaluated for AD-related Aβ pathology from two independent cohorts (Ludwig Maximilian University [LMU],  = 402, and Medical University of Vienna [MUV],  = 144).

Stage-adapted treatment of HIV-associated Hodgkin lymphoma: Long-term results of a prospective, multicenter study.

Results of a prospective study of stage-adapted treatment of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-associated Hodgkin lymphoma (HIV-HL) showed a 2-year overall survival (OS) of 90.7% with no significant difference between early favorable (EF), early unfavorable (EU), and advanced HL. Patients with EF HIV-HL received two to four cycles of doxorubicin, bleomycin, vinblastine, and dacarbazine (ABVD) + 30 Gy involved field (IF) radiation, those with EU HIV-HL received four cycles of ABVD or BEACOPP (bleomycin, etoposide, doxorubicin, cyclophosphamide, vincristine, procarbazine, and prednisone) baseline + 30 Gy IF, and six to eight cycles of BEACOPP baseline were administered in advanced disease.

Two prospective, multicenter studies for the identification of biomarker signatures for early detection of pulmonary hypertension (PH): The CIPHER and CIPHER-MRI studies.

A blood test identifying patients at increased risk of pulmonary hypertension (PH) could streamline the investigative pathway. The prospective, multicenter CIPHER study aimed to develop a microRNA-based signature for detecting PH in breathless patients and enrolled adults with a high suspicion of PH who had undergone right heart catheterization (RHC). The CIPHER-MRI study was added to assess the performance of this CIPHER signature in a population with low probability of having PH who underwent cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (cMRI) instead of RHC.

Background: Data on impact of COVID-19 vaccination and outcomes of patients with COVID-19 and acute ischemic stroke undergoing mechanical thrombectomy are scarce. Addressing this subject, we report our multicenter experience.

Methods And Results: This was a retrospective analysis of patients with COVID-19 and known vaccination status treated with mechanical thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke at 20 tertiary care centers between January 2020 and January 2023.

MicroRNA-34a-Dependent Attenuation of Angiogenesis in Right Ventricular Failure.

Background: The right ventricle (RV) is at risk in patients with complex congenital heart disease involving right-sided obstructive lesions. We have shown that capillary rarefaction occurs early in the pressure-loaded RV. Here we test the hypothesis that microRNA (miR)-34a, which is induced in RV hypertrophy and RV failure (RVF), blocks the hypoxia-inducible factor-1α-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) axis, leading to the attenuated angiogenic response and increased susceptibility to RV failure.

Dietary interventions have been proven highly effective in organ protection from ischemia reperfusion injury in mice and restricting dietary intake of sulfur-containing amino acids (SAA) seems to be instrumental in this regard.

General practitioners' attitude toward early and pre-dementia diagnosis of AD in five European countries-A MOPEAD project survey.

Introduction: General practitioners (GPs) play a key role in early identification of dementia, yet diagnosis is often missed or delayed in primary care. As part of the multinational Models of Patient Engagement for Alzheimer's Disease project, we assess GPs' attitude toward early and pre-dementia diagnosis of AD and explore barriers to early diagnosis.

Methods: Our survey covered general attitude toward early diagnosis, diagnostic procedures, resources, and opinion on present and future treatment options across five European countries.

The proteomic landscape of small urinary extracellular vesicles during kidney transplantation.

Kidney transplantation is the preferred renal replacement therapy available. Yet, long-term transplant survival is unsatisfactory, partially due to insufficient possibilities of longitudinal monitoring and understanding of the biological processes after transplantation. Small urinary extracellular vesicles (suEVs) - as a non-invasive source of information - were collected from 22 living donors and recipients.

Impact of tau and amyloid burden on glucose metabolism in Alzheimer's disease.

Progress in this domain strongly depends on the availability of suitable stimulus material.
