Background: Pain is the leading cause of disability and reduced quality of life worldwide. Despite the increasing burden for patients and healthcare systems, pain research remains underfunded and under focused. Having stakeholders identify and prioritize areas that need urgent attention in the field will help focus funding topics, reduce 'research waste', improve the effectiveness of pain research and therapy and promote the uptake of research evidence.

Purpose: Diagnosis of Menière's disease relies on clinical symptoms. Injected 3T MRI can show endolymphatic hydrops (EH), but correlation with the clinical status of MD, (probable -PMD or definite-DMD) remains doubtful. We revealed endolymphatic pressure disruption through functional exploration and verified if it was associated with an EH through MRI.

Background: Postprandial vascular endothelial dysfunction is an early marker of atherosclerosis. Meal protein has been reported to reduce endothelial dysfunction in adults, and the effect could be mediated by the amino acid content.
Objectives: This trial aims to assess the effect of a specifically designed plant-protein blend that contains high leucine, arginine, and cysteine on postprandial endothelial function in the elderly.

The primary objective of this study was to investigate the associations between sport participation and weight status with physical fitness among French adolescents. The secondary aim was to establish sex- and age-specific physical fitness percentiles for French adolescents. The sample comprised 8084 adolescents (4126 boys, 3958 girls), aged 10-14 years.

Background: Despite the increasing efficacy of chemotherapy, permanently unresectable colorectal liver metastases are associated with poor long-term survival. We aimed to assess whether liver transplantation plus chemotherapy could improve overall survival.
Methods: TransMet was a multicentre, open-label, prospective, randomised controlled trial done in 20 tertiary centres in Europe.

Background: Digital interventions integrating gamification features hold promise to promote daily steps. However, results regarding the effectiveness of this type of intervention are heterogeneous and not yet confirmed in real-life contexts.
Objective: This study aims to examine the effectiveness of a gamified intervention and its potential moderators in a large sample using real-world data.

Volatile anesthetics have been shown in different studies to reduce ischemia reperfusion injury (IRI). Ex vivo lung perfusion (EVLP) facilitates graft evaluation, extends preservation time and potentially enables injury repair and improvement of lung quality. We hypothesized that ventilating lungs with sevoflurane during EVLP would reduce lung injury and improve lung function.

Background And Objective: Functional magnetic resonance imaging, in conjunction with models of peripheral and/or central sensitization, has been used to assess analgesic efficacy in healthy humans. This review aims to summarize the use of these techniques to characterize brain mechanisms of hyperalgesia/allodynia and to evaluate the efficacy of analgesics.
Databases And Data Treatment: Searches were performed (PubMed-Medline, Cochrane, Web of Science and Clinicaltrials.

Introduction: Augmented reality (AR) in laparoscopic liver resection (LLR) can improve intrahepatic navigation by creating a virtual liver transparency. Our team has recently developed Hepataug, an AR software that projects the invisible intrahepatic tumors onto the laparoscopic images and allows the surgeon to localize them precisely. However, the accuracy of registration according to the location and size of the tumors, as well as the influence of the projection axis, have never been measured.

Introduction: Minimally Invasive Surgery uses electrosurgical tools that generate smoke. This smoke reduces the visibility of the surgical site and spreads harmful substances with potential hazards for the surgical staff. Automatic image analysis may provide assistance.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is characterized by the progressive and asymmetrical degeneration of the nigrostriatal dopamine neurons and the unilateral presentation of the motor symptoms at onset, contralateral to the most impaired hemisphere. We previously developed a rat PD model that mimics these typical features, based on unilateral injection of a substrate inhibitor of excitatory amino acid transporters, L-trans-pyrrolidine-2,4-dicarboxylate (PDC), in the substantia nigra (SN). Here, we used this progressive model in a multilevel study (behavioral testing, in vivo H-magnetic resonance spectroscopy, slice electrophysiology, immunocytochemistry and in situ hybridization) to characterize the functional changes occurring in the cortico-basal ganglia-cortical network in an evolving asymmetrical neurodegeneration context and their possible contribution to the cell death progression.

Background: Data on clinically relevant post-pancreatectomy hemorrhage (CR-PPH) are derived from series mostly focused on pancreatoduodenectomy, and data after distal pancreatectomy (DP) are scarce.
Methods: All non-extended DP performed from 2014 to 2018 were included. CR-PPH encompassed grade B and C PPH.

Far-infrared radiation (FIR) has been investigated for reduction of pain and improvement of dermal blood flow. The FIRTECH patch is a medical device designed to re-emit FIR radiated by the body. This phase 1 study was conducted to evaluate the local effects of the FIRTECH patch on local skin perfusion, microcirculation and oxygenation.

Background: Implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) need to reliably detect ventricular tachycardia (VT) and ventricular fibrillation (VF) while avoiding T-wave oversensing (TWOS), which is associated with a risk of inappropriate therapies. The incidence of TWOS with endovascular ICDs appears to differ between manufacturers.
Objectives: We aimed to evaluate the incidence and clinical consequences of TWOS with contemporary Medtronic and Boston Scientific ICDs.

A significant clinical association between osteoporosis (OP) and fibromyalgia (FM) has been shown in the literature. Given the need for specific biomarkers to improve OP and FM management, common miRNAs might provide promising tracks for future prevention and treatment. The aim of this review is to identify miRNAs described in OP and FM, and dysregulated in the same direction in both pathologies.

Introduction: This randomized, controlled, single-blinded trial assessed the effect of magnesium (Mg)-Teadiola (Mg, vitamins B6, B9, B12, Rhodiola, and green tea/L-theanine) versus placebo on the brain response to stressful thermal stimulus in chronically stressed, but otherwise healthy subjects. Impacts on stress-related quality-of-life parameters (depression, anxiety, sleep, and perception of pain) were also explored.
Methods: The study recruited a total of 40 adults (20 per group), suffering from stress for more than 1 month and scaling ≥14 points on the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS)-42 questionnaire at the time of inclusion.

Background: Cardiorespiratory fitness and muscle strength are valid markers of health and strong predictors of mortality and morbidity. The tests used to measure these variables require in-person visits with specialized equipment and trained personnel-leading to organizational constraints both for patients and hospitals, and making them difficult to implement at a large scale. In this context, technologies embedded in smartphones offer new opportunities to develop remote tests.

Background: Pacemakers (PMs) and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) increasingly automatically record and remotely transmit nonsustained ventricular tachycardia (NSVT) episodes, which may reveal ventricular oversensing.
Objectives: We aimed to develop and validate a machine learning algorithm that accurately classifies NSVT episodes transmitted by PMs and ICDs in order to lighten health care workload burden and improve patient safety.
Methods: PMs or ICDs (Boston Scientific, St Paul, MN) from 4 French hospitals with ≥1 transmitted NSVT episode were split into 3 subgroups: training set, validation set, and test set.

Procalcitonin (PCT) was established as a biomarker to discriminate bacterial infections from other proinflammatory conditions. Our objective was to determine whether PCT is effective in differentiating infection from antineutrophil-cytoplasmic-antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitides (AAV) flare. In this retrospective, case-control study, PCT and other inflammatory biomarkers of patients with AAV relapse (relapsing group) were compared to infected AAV patients (infected group).
