Delayed Diagnosis of Congenital Duodenal Stenosis in a 16-Year-Old Girl.

Background: Duodenal atresia or stenosis are different degrees of the same abnormality. They usually occur at the level of the ampulla of Vater and are thought to be an embryologic defect during the development of the foregut, leading to abnormal recanalization. Complete duodenal atresia is usually symptomatic in the early neonatal period, while partial obstruction (web, stenosis) may have a late presentation and a more challenging diagnosis such as in our case.

Prior research has shown that the sensorimotor cortical oscillations are uncharacteristic in persons with cerebral palsy (CP); however, it is unknown if these altered cortical oscillations have an impact on adaptive sensorimotor control. This investigation evaluated the cortical dynamics when the motor action needs to be changed "on-the-fly". Adults with CP and neurotypical controls completed a sensorimotor task that required either proactive or reactive control while undergoing magnetoencephalography (MEG).

Introduction: The human cerebellum emerges as a posterior brain structure integrating neural networks for sensorimotor, cognitive, and emotional processing across the lifespan. Developmental studies of the cerebellar anatomy and function are scant. We examine age-dependent MRI morphometry of the anterior cerebellar vermis, lobules I-V and posterior neocortical lobules VI-VII and their relationship to sensorimotor and cognitive functions.

Background: The European Renal Association (ERA) Registry collects data on kidney replacement therapy (KRT) in patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD). This paper is a summary of the ERA Registry Annual Report 2021, including a comparison across treatment modalities.

Methods: Data was collected from 54 national and regional registries from 36 countries, of which 35 registries from 18 countries contributed individual patient data and 19 registries from 19 countries contributed aggregated data.

Aplastic Anaemia in Pregnancy: A Case-Based Comprehensive Review of the Literature.

Aplastic anaemia (AA) is a rare and life-threatening haematologic disorder characterised by pancytopenia and bone marrow failure. Its occurrence during pregnancy is exceedingly rare, posing significant risks and management challenges for both the mother and the foetus. We present here the case of a 23-year-old female, six months pregnant, diagnosed with severe aplastic anaemia (AA), aiming to highlight the diagnostic challenges and management considerations of AA in pregnancy.

Method: The prospective study included 83 patients undergoing abdominal surgery and receiving general anaesthesia. Patients were divided into two groups: with low intraoperative positive end-expiratory pressure (0-2cm HO) and with high intraoperative positive end-expiratory pressure (8-10cm HO).

This study included 1,165 patients with ACS, who performed urgent coronary angiography, from January 2018 to December 2018.

Percutaneous Coronary Intervention in a Patient Presenting With Inferior Myocardial Infarction and an Anomalous Left Main Artery Originating From the Right Coronary Sinus.

We present a case of a patient with inferior myocardial infarction (MI) and anomalous left main artery originating from the right coronary sinus. The left main artery and right coronary artery originated from the right coronary sinus but with separate ostia. The patient underwent revascularization of the right coronary artery with balloon angioplasty and a drug-eluting stent.

Uncovering the Challenges of Rare Diseases: Insights From a Retrospective Cross-Sectional Study in Albania (2005-2022).

Background: Diagnosing and treating rare diseases pose significant challenges within global healthcare systems due to their low prevalence and varying criteria for defining them. In Albania, the absence of a dedicated registry for rare diseases exacerbates these challenges. Recognising this gap, a retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted from January 2005 to December 2022 to analyse the incidence and prevalence of rare haematologic diseases in the country, diagnosed in the Hematology Service at the University Hospital Centre "Mother Teresa," which is the sole diagnostic center for blood diseases in Albania.
