To pursue the design of stable chelating systems for radiometals, a concise and straightforward method toolbox was developed combining NMR, isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC), and europium time-resolved laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy (Eu-TRLFS). For this purpose, the macropa chelator was chosen, and Lu, La, Pb, Ra, and Ba were chosen as radiopharmaceutically relevant metal ions. They differ in charge (2+ and 3+) and coordination properties (main group vs lanthanides).

An abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a pathological widening of the aortic wall characterized by loss of smooth muscle cells (SMCs), extracellular matrix degradation, and local inflammation. This condition is often asymptomatic until rupture occurs, leading to high morbidity and mortality rates. Diagnosis is mostly accidental and the only currently available treatment option remains surgical intervention.

Therapies reconstituting autologous antiviral immunocompetence may represent an important prophylaxis and treatment for immunosuppressed individuals. Following hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT), patients are susceptible to Herpesviridae including cytomegalovirus (CMV). We show in a murine model of HCT that macrophage colony-stimulating factor (M-CSF) promoted rapid antiviral activity and protection from viremia caused by murine CMV.

Inherited platelet disorders (IPDs) comprise a heterogeneous group of entities that manifest with variable bleeding tendencies. For successful treatment, the underlying platelet disorder, bleeding severity and location, age, and sex must be considered in the broader clinical context. . Global and regional transpulmonary pressure (P) during one-lung ventilation (OLV) is poorly characterized. We hypothesized that global and regional P and driving P (ΔP) increase during protective low tidal volume OLV compared to two-lung ventilation (TLV), and vary with body position.

Background: A lymphoepithelial cyst of the pancreas is a rare benign lesion that is difficult to diagnose preoperatively and challenging in distinguishing from potentially malignant cystic pancreatic neoplasms. A diagnostic step-up approach is recommended to clarify the lesion's dignity and specify a treatment plan.
Case Presentation: Here, we describe a case of a 51-year-old male European with a lymphoepithelial cyst of the pancreas mimicking malignant features in a mid-age male patient with abdominal pain and unintended weight loss.

Based on recent data, a total number of about 29 000 patients with adrenal insufficiency can be calculated for Germany, and about 1500 fatalities due to adrenal crises have to be expected within the next decade. Management of adrenal crises is still unsatisfactory. The objectives of this study were to establish consensus for diagnostic criteria, prevention strategies, and treatment recommendations for adrenal crises.

Background: Chest drain management has a significant influence on postoperative recovery after robot-assisted minimally invasive esophagectomy (RAMIE). The use of chest drains increases postoperative pain by irritating intercostal nerves and hinders patients from early postoperative mobilization and recovery. To our knowledge, no study has investigated the use of two vs.

Purpose: The use of inner-branch aortic stent grafts in the treatment of complex aortic pathologies aims at broad applicability and stable bridging stent sealing compared to other endovascular technologies. The objective of this study was to evaluate the early outcomes with a single manufacturer custom-made and off-the-shelf inner-branched endograft in a mixed patient cohort.
Methods: This retrospective, monocentric study between 2019 and 2022 included 44 patients treated with inner-branched aortic stent grafts (iBEVAR) as custom-made device (CMD) or off-the-shelf device (E-nside) with at least four inner branches.

Myofibromas are rare benign tumors with myofibroblastic origin. They occur especially in cutis and subcutaneous tissue of the head and the neck, less frequently on the extremities. Myofibromas grow very slowly and are often painless, which is why patients often present relatively late.

As the sense of the body's internal state, interoception represents the afferent component of the brain-body feedback loop essential for linking internal sensation with body regulation, thereby minimizing erroneous feedback and maintaining homeostasis. The anticipation of potential future interoceptive states enables organisms to take regulatory actions to meet demands before they arise, and alterations of anticipation have been implicated in the pathophysiology of medical and psychiatric conditions. However, laboratory approaches operationalizing the anticipation of interoceptive states are missing.

Cigarette smoking is the most important avoidable cardiovascular risk factor. It causes endothelial dysfunction and atherosclerosis and increases the risk of its severe clinical complications like coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction, stroke, and peripheral artery disease. Several next-generation tobacco and nicotine products have been developed to decrease some of the deleterious effects of regular tobacco smoking.

Background: Pancreatic cancer is the 4th leading cause of cancer-related death with poor survival even after curative resection. RAB27A and RAB27B are key players in the exosome pathway where they play important roles in exosome secretion. Evidence suggests that RAB27A and RAB27B expression not only leads to tumor proliferation and invasion, but also plays an important role in antigen transfer necessary for anticancer immunity.

Obesity is associated with a higher risk of severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and increased mortality. In the current study, we have investigated the expression of ACE2, NRP1, and HMGB1, known to facilitate severe acute respiratory symptom coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) cell entry, in adipose tissue from non-COVID-19 control patients with normal weight, overweight, and obesity. All factors were expressed, but no significant differences between the groups were observed.
