Article Synopsis
  • Adrenocortical carcinoma is a rare and serious type of cancer that affects the adrenal glands, and a specific bad version of it is called CIMP.
  • Researchers found that CIMP is linked to certain proteins that change DNA in a way that makes the cancer worse and helps it escape the immune system.
  • They think that using special treatments that change DNA could help make other cancer therapies work better for patients with this dangerous type of cancer.

Multidimensional assessment of anticipated and experienced interoceptive states.

Physiol Behav

October 2023

Department of Psychotherapy and Psychosomatic Medicine, University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus Dresden, Technische Universität Dresden, Dresden, Germany; Department of Clinical Psychology, Friedrich Schiller University, Jena, Germany; German Center for Mental Health (DZPG), Site Jena-Magdeburg-Halle, Germany.

As the sense of the body's internal state, interoception represents the afferent component of the brain-body feedback loop essential for linking internal sensation with body regulation, thereby minimizing erroneous feedback and maintaining homeostasis. The anticipation of potential future interoceptive states enables organisms to take regulatory actions to meet demands before they arise, and alterations of anticipation have been implicated in the pathophysiology of medical and psychiatric conditions. However, laboratory approaches operationalizing the anticipation of interoceptive states are missing.
