Introduction: Every winter, emergency departments (EDs) face overcrowding with patients presenting influenza-like symptoms, and organisational issues such as single room assignment and droplet precautions to avoid hospital-acquired influenza. Our main objective was to assess the impact of PCR results and patient's severity on single room assignment.
Methods: All patients admitted to Bichat-Claude Bernard Hospital through the ED and tested for influenza by PCR (GenXpert, Cepheid) or (FilmArray, BioMérieux) on a nasopharyngeal swab were retrospectively included during three influenza seasons (2015-2018.

The psychological effects of isolation have already been described in the literature (polar expeditions, submarines, prison). Nevertheless, the scale of confinement implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic is unprecedented. In addition to reviewing the published studies, we need to anticipate the psychological problems that could arise during or at a distance from confinement.

Objective: The conduct of a medical interview is a challenging skill, even for the most qualified physicians. Since a training is needed to acquire the necessary skills to conduct an interview with a patient, we compared role-play with standardized patients (SP) training and a conventional lecture for the acquisition of communications skills in undergraduate medical students.
Methods: An entire promotion of third year undergraduate medical students, who never received any lessons about communications skills, were randomized into 4 arms: 1) SP 2 months before the testing of medical communications skills (SP); 2) conventional lecture 2 months before the testing (CL); 3) two control groups (CG) without any intervention, tested either at the beginning of the study or two months later.

Aims: To systematically review the literature on the efficacy and tolerability of the major chronotherapeutic treatments of bipolar disorders (BD)-bright light therapy (LT), dark therapy (DT), treatments utilizing sleep deprivation (SD), melatonergic agonists (MA), interpersonal social rhythm therapy (IPSRT), and cognitive behavioral therapy adapted for BD (CBTI-BP)-and propose treatment recommendations based on a synthesis of the evidence.
Methods: PRISMA-based systematic review of the literature.
Results: The acute antidepressant (AD) efficacy of LT was supported by several open-label studies, three randomized controlled trials (RCTs), and one pseudorandomized controlled trial.

Objectives: The understanding of histo-molecular mechanisms associated with resistance to osimertinib is a critical step to define the optimal treatment strategy in advanced EGFR-mutated Non-Small-Cell-Lung-Cancer (NSCLC).
Materials And Methods: We performed a multicentric retrospective analysis on a cohort of consecutive patients treated with osimertinib for an advanced EGFR-mutated NSCLC and collected histo-molecular data from plasma and tumor samples at the time of progression. Next-generation sequencing (NGS) was performed for all samples.

Objective: Whereas functional symptoms are common in Parkinson's disease (PD), a parkinsonian syndrome may occasionally reflect a pure functional disorder (also named functional parkinsonism [FP]). This review aimed to decipher these entities to clarify the link between functional manifestations and PD.
Methods: Following the PRISMA guidelines, the authors performed a systematic literature search of the PubMed and Science Direct databases for the period 1988 to December 2018 to identify studies of patients with either FP or PD associated with functional neurological symptoms.

Psychiatric disorders share the same pattern of longitudinal evolution and have courses that tend to be chronic and recurrent. These aspects of chronicity and longitudinal evolution are currently studied under the deficit-oriented neuroprogression framework. Interestingly, considering the plasticity of the brain, it is also necessary to emphasize the bidirectional nature of neuroprogression.

Introduction: Tumor mutational burden (TMB) correlates with response to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) in advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (aNSCLC). We hypothesized that TP53 mutations could reflect TMB and be associated with ICI benefit.
Methods: TP53 mutations were assessed by next-generation sequencing in aNSCLC patients treated with programmed death-1 (PD-1) blockers.

Background: There is no recommended therapy for malignant pleural mesothelioma that has progressed after first-line pemetrexed and platinum-based chemotherapy. Disease control has been less than 30% in all previous studies of second-line drugs. Preliminary results have suggested that anti-programmed cell death 1 (PD-1) monoclonal antibody could be efficacious in these patients.

The plasticity of a material corresponds to its capacity to change its feature under the effect of an external action. Intestinal plasticity could be defined as the ability of the intestine to modify its size or thickness and intestinal cells to modulate their absorption and secretion functions in response to external or internal cues/signals. This review will focus on intestinal adaptation mechanisms in response to diet and nutritional status.

Objective This study protocol aims to determine, using a rigorous approach in patients with bipolar disorder (BD) and non-seasonal major depressive episode (MDE), the characteristics of bright light therapy (BLT) administration (duration, escalation, morning and mid-day exposures) depending on the tolerance (hypomanic symptoms). Methods Patients with BD I or II and treated by a mood stabilizer are eligible. After 1 week of placebo, patients are randomized between either morning or mid-day exposure for 10 weeks of active BLT with glasses using a dose escalation at 7.

Background: Among the population of morbidly obese people, super-super-obese (SSO) individuals (body mass index >60 kg/m) present a treatment challenge for bariatric surgeons.
Objectives: To compare the long-term outcomes between laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (SG) and laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) and to evaluate the efficacy of SG as a stand-alone bariatric procedure for SSO patients.
Setting: University hospital, Paris, France.

Bipolar disorders (BDs) are severe and common psychiatric disorders. BD pathogenesis, clinical manifestations and relapses are associated with numerous circadian rhythm abnormalities. In addition, infradian fluctuations of mood, social activity, weight and sleep patterns are very frequent in BD.

Single-anastomosis duodenoileal bypass with sleeve gastrectomy (SADI-S) is a simplified biliopancreatic diversion. The objective of this study was to develop a reproducible animal model for SADI-S. We used three techniques for duodenal exclusion and duodenoileal anastomosis: (a) surgical clip and side-to-side anastomosis, (b) ligation and side-to-side anastomosis and (c) sectioning the duodenum, closing the duodenal stump and end-to-side anastomosis.

Background: Rapid weight loss after bariatric surgery is associated with a high prevalence of gallstone formation. In laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGBP), the bypassed segment is not readily available for endoscopic or radiographic examination. We propose a laparoscopic Janeway gastrostomy for secondary access to excluded structures in bariatric centers with no mandatory technical equipment in endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), double-balloon ERCP or spiral enteroscopy.

Introduction: Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) modifies gastrointestinal substances that control hunger and satiation via the brain-gut axis. A potential mechanism implicated in weight loss is the shift in food preferences. Our aim was to assess changes in taste preferences and their relationship to weight loss.
