Introduction: Radiologists frequently lack direct patient contact due to time constraints. Digital medical interview assistants aim to facilitate the collection of health information. In this paper, we propose leveraging conversational agents to realize a medical interview assistant to facilitate medical history taking, while at the same time offering patients the opportunity to ask questions on the examination.

Background And Aims: Circulating proenkephalin (PENK) is a stable endogenous polypeptide with fast response to glomerular dysfunction and tubular damage. This study examined the predictive value of PENK for renal outcomes and mortality in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS).
Methods: Proenkephalin was measured in plasma in a prospective multicentre ACS cohort from Switzerland (n = 4787) and in validation cohorts from the UK (n = 1141), Czechia (n = 927), and Germany (n = 220).

Over the past few decades, dengue fever has emerged as a significant global health threat, affecting tropical and moderate climate regions. Current vaccines have practical limitations, there is a strong need for safer, more effective options. This study introduces novel vaccine candidates covering all four dengue virus (DENV) serotypes using virus-like particles (VLPs), a proven vaccine platform.

The FICUS trial is a cluster-randomized superiority trial to determine the effectiveness of a nurse-led, interprofessional family support intervention (FSI) on the quality of care, family management and individual mental health of family members of critically ill patients, compared to usual care. This paper describes the statistical analysis plan of the FICUS trial. The primary outcome is quality of family care, assessed by the Family Satisfaction in ICU Questionnaire (FS-ICU-24R) at patient discharge from the ICU.

Clinical cases referring to the EACTS/STS Guidelines for diagnosing and treating acute and chronic syndromes of the aortic organ aim to assist physicians in selecting the best management strategies for individual patients with a given condition. These expert opinions consider the impact on patient outcomes as well as the risk-benefit ratio of different diagnostic or therapeutic methods. These cases serve as a vital tool to aid physicians in making decisions in their daily practice.

Multiple myeloma (MM) first-line treatment algorithms include immuno-chemotherapy (ICT) induction, high-dose chemotherapy (HDCT) and autologous stem cell transplant (ASCT) consolidation, followed by lenalidomide maintenance. After these initial therapies, most patients suffer a disease relapse and require subsequent treatment lines including ICT, additional HDCT and ASCT, or novel immunotherapies. The presence of somatic mutations in peripheral blood cells has been associated with adverse outcomes in a variety of hematological malignancies.

Our aim was to investigate and compare cardiac findings after different cerebrovascular events (acute ischemic stroke, transient ischemic attack, and hemorrhagic stroke).
Methods And Results: There were 7113 patients screened who were treated between December 2013 and December 2020 at the University Hospital Zurich for ischemic stroke, transient ischemic attack, and hemorrhagic stroke.

Background: We aim to evaluate the impact of antegrade stenting of the distal arch and proximal descending aorta combined with non-total arch procedures in acute type A aortic dissection.
Methods: From 2005 to 2022, 733 nonsyndromic patients presented with acute DeBakey type I aortic dissection and underwent non-total arch procedure. Ninety-five patients underwent antegrade stenting and 638 did not.

Background: Trauma poses a significant global health challenge. Despite advancements in the management of severely injured patients, (poly)trauma continues to be a primary contributor to morbidity and mortality worldwide. In the context of trauma resuscitation, supplemental oxygen is commonly administered generously as suggested by guidelines.

Positron emission tomography (PET) imaging is widely used in medical imaging for analyzing neurological disorders and related brain diseases. Usually, full-dose imaging for PET ensures image quality but raises concerns about potential health risks of radiation exposure. The contradiction between reducing radiation exposure and maintaining diagnostic performance can be effectively addressed by reconstructing low-dose PET (L-PET) images to the same high-quality as full-dose (F-PET).

Introduction: The risk of ischemic stroke and intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) with intensive lipid control by statins among patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) who require direct oral anticoagulants (DOAC) is unclear. We aimed to determine the risks of ischemic stroke and ICH in AF patients treated with DOAC and statins.
Patients And Methods: In a population-based retrospective cohort study, we identified AF patients concurrently on DOAC and statins from 2015 to 2021 in Hong Kong.

The etiology of allergy is closely linked to type 2 inflammatory responses ultimately leading to the production of allergen-specific immunoglobulin E (IgE), a key driver of many allergic conditions. At a high level, initial allergen exposure disrupts epithelial integrity, triggering local inflammation via alarmins including IL-25, IL-33, and TSLP, which activate type 2 innate lymphoid cells as well as other immune cells to secrete type 2 cytokines IL-4, IL-5 and IL-13, promoting Th2 cell development and eosinophil recruitment. Th2 cell dependent B cell activation promotes the production of allergen-specific IgE, which stably binds to basophils and mast cells.

Purpose: To investigate how audio-biofeedback during the instruction of partial weight-bearing affected adherence, compared to traditional methods, in older adults; and to investigate the influence of individual characteristics.
Methods: The primary outcome measure of this randomised controlled trial was the amount of load, measured as the ground reaction force, on the partial weight-bearing leg. The secondary outcome was the influence of individual characteristics on the amount of load.

Objectives: Mitral valve regurgitation and left ventricular dysfunction are cardiovascular symptoms of Marfan syndrome. There is a paucity of information on tricuspid valve regurgitation and right ventricular function. In patients with Marfan syndrome, we looked at long-term changes in right ventricular function, tricuspid valve regurgitation and freedom from tricuspid valve repair.

Background: Perfusion abnormalities in the infarct and salvaged penumbra have been proposed as a potential reason for poor clinical outcome (modified Rankin Scale score >2) despite complete angiographic reperfusion (Thrombolysis in Cerebral Infarction [TICI3]). In this study, we aimed to identify different microvascular perfusion patterns and their association with clinical outcomes among TICI3 patients.
Methods: University Hospital Bern's stroke registry of all patients between February 2015 and December 2021.
