Continuous Rhythm Monitoring With Implanted Loop Recorders in Children and Adolescents With Brugada Syndrome.

Background: Young (<18 years of age) patients with Brugada syndrome (BrS) are often under-represented in BrS studies and their management, especially related to syncopal episodes, remains unclear.

Objectives: This study sought to describe the arrhythmia prevalence among young patients with BrS undergoing continuous rhythm monitoring by implantable loop recorder (ILR) and to assess the etiology behind syncope of undetermined origin.

Methods: A total of 147 patients with BrS with ILR were enrolled in 12 international centers and divided into pediatric (age <12 years; n = 77, 52%) and adolescents (age 13-18 years; n = 70, 48%).

Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) use trajectories and incidence of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections among PrEP users in Belgium: a cohort analysis of insurance claims data from 2017 to 2019.

Background: Since June 2017, oral pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) has been reimbursed in Belgium for people at substantial risk of HIV. To inform the national PrEP programme, we described sociodemographic characteristics of PrEP users, PrEP dispensing practices, testing for HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STIs; gonorrhoea, chlamydia and syphilis), and incidence of HIV and STIs.

Methods: Analysis of routinely collected social health insurance claims data from all individuals who were dispensed at least one PrEP prescription between June 2017 and December 2019.

This review explores the application of patient-derived tumor organoids (PDTOs), three-dimensional, self-organizing models derived from patient tumor samples, as screening tools for drug resistance in CRC.

Background: Not all surgical osteotomy steps have been properly investigated for their potential impact on surgical accuracy. The main study objective was to investigate the osteotomy parameters that have respectively major and minor impact on coronal and sagittal bony accuracy in medial opening-wedge high tibial osteotomy (MOWHTO).

Methods: Three tibias from an existing 3D MOWHTO osteotomy database were chronologically selected based on segmentation quality, tibial plateau size and the presence of tibial varus.

Methods And Results: Five hundred and eighty-nine participants [median age 46 (interquartile range 24-56) years, 81% male] underwent cardiopulmonary exercise testing with repeated, automated BP measures.

The impact of different recovery positions on the perfusion of the lower forearm and comfort: A cross-over randomized controlled trial.

Background: International guidelines recommend a side-lying recovery position for unresponsive individuals with normal breathing who do not require cardiopulmonary resuscitation. However, high-certainty evidence about an optimal recovery position is lacking. Recent guidelines recommend a position with the arm extended rather than bent, hypothesizing that venous drainage in the dependent lower arm might be compromised.

Change in cup orientation from supine to standing posture: a prospective cohort study of 419 total hip arthroplasties.

Background And Purpose: Arthroplasty surgeons traditionally assess cup orientation after total hip arthroplasty (THA) on supine radiographs. Contemporary hip-spine analyses provide information on standing, functional cup orientation. This study aims to (i) characterize cup orientations when supine and standing; (ii) determine orientation differences between postures; and (iii) identify factors associated with magnitude of orientation differences.

Background: The radiographic appearance of the acetabulum differs between the supine and standing positions in patients with hip conditions. The pelvis undergoes a change in tilt when transitioning between positions, resulting in variations in version and acetabular coverage. However, the extent of these variations in well-functioning volunteers without compensatory patterns caused by pain is unknown.

This study aimed to uncover novel genes associated with neurodevelopmental disorders (NDD) by leveraging recent large-scale de novo burden analysis studies to enhance a virtual gene panel used in a diagnostic setting. We re-analyzed historical trio-exome sequencing data from 745 individuals with NDD according to the most recent diagnostic standards, resulting in a cohort of 567 unsolved individuals. Next, we designed a virtual gene panel containing candidate genes from three large de novo burden analysis studies in NDD and prioritized candidate genes by stringent filtering for ultra-rare de novo variants with high pathogenicity scores.

Impact of Offset and Leg Length on Functional Outcomes Post-Total Hip Arthroplasty: How Accurate Should Coronal Reconstruction Be?

Background: Accurate hip reconstruction is associated with improved biomechanical behavior following total hip arthroplasty (THA). However, whether this is associated with improved patient-reported outcomes (PROs) is unknown.

Hypothesis/purpose: This study aimed to: 1) describe the ability to reconstruct coronal geometry during THA without advanced technology; 2) assess whether restoration of global offset (GO) and leg length (LL) is associated with improved PROs; and 3) investigate whether increased femoral offset (FO) to compensate for reduced acetabular offset (AO) influences PROs.
