Introduction: While non-invasive positive-pressure ventilation (NIPPV) is increasingly used as a mode of respiratory support for preterm infants, it remains unclear whether this technique translates into improved respiratory outcomes. We assessed the association between NIPPV use and bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD)-free survival in never intubated very preterm infants.

Methods: This multicenter cohort study analyzed data from the Spanish Neonatal Network SEN1500 corresponding to preterm infants born at <32 weeks gestational age and <1,500 g and not intubated during first admission.

Time to improve documentation of neonatal resuscitation: a narrative review.

Minerva Pediatr (Torino)

December 2022

Spanish Neonatal Resuscitation Group, Sociedad Española de Neonatología (SENeo), Madrid, Spain.

A complete, objective and systematic documentation of delivery room resuscitation is important for research, for quality improvement, for teaching and as a reference for postresuscitation care. However, documentation during neonatal resuscitation is usually paper-based, retrospective, inaccurate and unreliable. In this narrative review, we discuss the strengths and pitfalls of current documentation methods in neonatal resuscitation, as well as the challenges of introducing new or emerging technologies in this field.

Background: RNA-binding motif protein 3 (RBM3) is a cold-induced marker of good functional outcome of ischemic stroke that is promising as a protective target. Fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) is an obesity- and temperature-related hormone that upregulates the expression of RBM3, which is beneficial as a recombinant treatment and has been tested under different experimental pathological conditions, including stroke. However, the interaction between RBM3 and FGF21 has not yet been tested for clinical stroke conditions.

Background And Purpose: Experimental models of cerebral ischemia demonstrate that the decrease in the caveolin-1 membrane protein results in an increase in endothelial permeability. Because this phenomenon is responsible for hemorrhagic transformation (HT) after cerebral ischemia, we aimed to determine whether caveolin-1 levels may predict bleeding after recombinant tissue-type plasminogen activator (r-tPA) administration in patients with acute stroke.

Methods: We studied 133 patients with a first hemispheric stroke treated with r-tPA within 4.

Background: The deregulation of microRNAs in both tumours and blood has led to the search for microRNAs to indicate the presence of cancer and predict prognosis. We hypothesize the deregulation of miR-200c/miR-141 in the whole blood can identify breast cancer (BC), and could be developed into a prognostic signature.

Methods: The expression of miR-200c and miR-141 were examined in bloods (57 stage I-IV BC patients and 20 age-matched controls) by quantitative reverse-transcription PCR.
