Purpose: Recurrent anterior shoulder instability caused by critical bone loss of the glenoid is a challenging condition for shoulder surgeons. The purpose of this prospective multicenter trial was to compare the arthroscopic transfer of the coracoid process (Latarjet procedure) with the arthroscopic reconstruction of the glenoid using iliac crest autografts.

Pompe disease is a rare genetic metabolic disorder caused by mutations in acid-alpha glucoside (GAA) leading to pathological lysosomal glycogen accumulation associated with skeletal muscle weakness, respiratory difficulties and cardiomyopathy, dependent from the GAA residual enzyme activity. This study aimed to investigate early proteomic changes in a mouse model of Pompe disease and identify potential therapeutic pathways using proteomic analysis of skeletal muscles from pre-symptomatic Pompe mice. For this purpose, quadriceps samples of Gaa mutant (Pompe) and wildtype mice, at the age of six weeks, were studied with three biological replicates for each group.

Background: Depending on the therapy approach and disease background, the heterogeneity of muscular tissues complicates the development of targeted gene therapy, where either expression in all muscle types or restriction to only one muscle type is warranted. Muscle specificity can be achieved using promotors mediating tissue specific and sustained physiological expression in the desired muscle types but limited activity in non-targeted tissue. Several muscle specific promotors have been described, but direct comparisons between them are lacking.

Background And Purpose: In these guidelines, we aimed to develop evidence-based recommendations for the use of screening questionnaires and diagnostic tests in patients with neuropathic pain (NeP).

Methods: We systematically reviewed studies providing information on the sensitivity and specificity of screening questionnaires, and quantitative sensory testing, neurophysiology, skin biopsy, and corneal confocal microscopy. We also analysed how functional neuroimaging, peripheral nerve blocks, and genetic testing might provide useful information in diagnosing NeP.

Six types of titanium dioxide particles with defined size, shape, and crystal structure (polymorphic form) were prepared: nanorods (70 × 25 nm), rutile sub-microrods (190 × 40 nm), rutile microspheres (620 nm), anatase nanospheres (100 nm), anatase microspheres (510 nm), and amorphous titania microspheres (620 nm). All particles were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, dynamic light scattering, infrared spectroscopy, and UV spectroscopy.
