Scaffolds made of polycaprolactone and nanocrystalline silicon-substituted hydroxyapatite have been fabricated by 3D printing rapid prototyping technique. To asses that the scaffolds fulfill the requirements to be considered for bone grafting applications, they were implanted in New Zealand rabbits. Histological and radiological studies have demonstrated that the scaffolds implanted in bone exhibited an excellent osteointegration without the interposition of fibrous tissue between bone and implants and without immune response after 4 months of implantation.

This work describes the evaluation of three ceramic materials as potential osteogenic substrate for bone tissue engineering. The capacity of adult human mesenchymal stem cells cultured under experimental conditions known to adhere, proliferate and differentiate into osteoblasts was studied. Two types of culture medium: growth medium and osteogenic medium were evaluated.

Introduction: In the setting of orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT), pulmonary hypertension (PH) affects right ventricular (RV) function. When RV failure occurs, reducing RV afterload, optimizing RV preload, and preserving coronary perfusion through maintenance of systemic blood pressure are the primary goals of intraoperative treatment.
Patients And Methods: To verify the effect of dobutamine on RV function and RV-arterial coupling, we compared a group of 9 cirrhotic patients with mild PH treated with OLT to a group of 20 patients with normal mean pulmonary artery pressure (MPAP).

Several therapeutic options exist for patients who have BE, and treatment should be individualized (Fig. 1). The best option in patients who have a high surgical risk or who reject surgery is lifelong conservative treatment, adjusting the PPI dosage with pH-metric controls.

Angiography was used to diagnose a rare congenital coronary anomaly with myocardial ischaemia in a woman with typical angina. All three coronary arteries arose from a solitary coronary ostium in the right aortic sinus; the left anterior descending coronary artery followed a septal course, the circumflex coronary artery ran behind the ascending aorta, and the right coronary artery followed a normal course. No significant coronary lumen narrowing was found.
