Real-world data in clinical practice are needed to confirm the efficacy and safety that ibrutinib has demonstrated in clinical trials of patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). We described the real-world persistence rate, patterns of use, and clinical outcomes in 309 patients with CLL receiving single-agent ibrutinib in first line (1L, = 118), 2L ( = 127) and ≥3L ( = 64) in the prospective, real-world, Italian EVIdeNCE study. After a median follow-up of 23.

There is an ongoing need for biomarkers that could reliably predict the outcome of BC and that could guide the management of this disease. In this setting, we aimed to explore the prognostic value of the transcription factor P63 in patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) having undergone radical cystectomy. The correlation between P63 expression and clinicopathological features (tumor stage, nodes involvement, patterns of muscularis propria invasion, papillary architecture, anaplasia, concomitant carcinoma in situ, lymphovascular invasion, perineural invasion, necrosis) and molecular subtyping (basal and luminal type tumors) was tested in 65 radical cystectomy specimens and matched with cancer-specific survival (CSS) and overall survival (OS).

Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is an inflammatory disease that affects the nasal mucosa and the paranasal sinuses. CRS can be associated by nasal polyposis (CRSwNP phenotype) in up to 30% of patients and it is frequently associated with bronchial asthma. CRSwNP shows predominantly an underlying activation of type 2 inflammatory pathways with the involvement of eosinophils, IgE, interleukin (IL)-4, IL-5 and IL-13.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to analyze real-life data from a cohort of adult patients receiving atezolizumab in combination with carboplatin and etoposide for first-line treatment of ES-SCLC, in order to assess relative dose intensity (RDI), time-to-treatment discontinuation (TTD), time-to-treatment failure (TTF), progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS) of treatments as well as the correlation between these outcomes.
Methods: An observational retrospective study was conducted. All patients treated with atezolizumab combined with carboplatin and etoposide for first-line treatment of ES-SCLC were included.

Background: Available data on the clinical characteristics and prognosis of patients with heart failure (HF) due to dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) derive mainly from tertiary care centres for cardiomyopathies or from drug trial sub-studies, which may entail a referral bias.
Methods: From 2008 to 2021, we enrolled in a nationwide HF Registry 1886 DCM patients and 3899 with ischemic heart disease (IHD).
Results: Patients with DCM were younger, more often female, had more commonly recent onset HF, left bundle branch block, and showed higher LV end-diastolic volume and lower LVEF than IHD.

Purpose: To evaluate complications and urinary incontinence (UI) after endoscopic enucleation of the prostate (EEP) stratified by prostate volume (PV).
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia who underwent EEP with different energy sources in 14 centers (January 2019-January 2023).
Inclusion Criteria: prostate volume ≥ 80 ml.

Background: Emphysematous pyelonephritis (EPN) is a necrotizing infection of the kidney and the surrounding tissues associated with considerable mortality. We aimed to formulate a score that classifies the risk of mortality in patients with EPN at hospital admission.
Materials And Methods: Patients diagnosed with EPN between 2013 and 2020 were retrospectively included.

Background And Objective: Targeted biopsy of the index prostate cancer (PCa) lesion on multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is effective in reducing the risk of overdiagnosis of indolent PCa. However, it remains to be determined whether MRI-targeted biopsy can lead to a stage shift via overgrading of the index lesion by focusing only on the highest-grade component, and to a subsequent risk of overtreatment. Our aim was to assess whether overgrading on MRI-targeted biopsy may lead to overtreatment, using radical prostatectomy (RP) specimens as the reference standard.

Purpose: The aim of this multi-center, retrospective/prospective cohort observational study was to evaluate outcomes in routine clinical practice of first-line chemo-immunotherapy with cis/carboplatin, pemetrexed and pembrolizumab in patients with advanced non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in 33 Italian centers.
Methods: The outcome measure was to evaluate overall survival (OS) in a real-world patient population. Secondary endpoints were: progression-free survival (PFS), objective response rate (ORR), duration of response (DoR) and incidence of treatment-related adverse events (AEs).

Bioprosthetic valvular failure (BVF) is a pathological entity arising from a variety of conditions affecting prosthetic heart valves. It may present with an extremely varied pattern, and the identification of the exact etiology is vital to provide a prompt and adequate treatment. It is established that infective endocarditis mainly affects patients with intracardiac devices such as pacemakers or prosthetic valves, and it represents one of the principal mechanisms of BVF.

Background And Aims: Available data on continuous rhythm monitoring by implantable loop recorders (ILRs) in patients with Brugada syndrome (BrS) are scarce. The aim of this multi-centre study was to evaluate the diagnostic yield and clinical implication of a continuous rhythm monitoring strategy by ILRs in a large cohort of BrS patients and to assess the precise arrhythmic cause of syncopal episodes.
Methods: A total of 370 patients with BrS and ILRs (mean age 43.

Background: Recent data indicate that end-of-life management for patients affected by acute decompensated heart failure in cardiac intensive care units is aggressive, with late or no engagement of palliative care teams.
Objective: To assess current palliative care and end-of-life practices in a contemporary Italian multicenter registry of patients with cardiogenic shock due to acute decompensated heart failure.
Methods: A survey-based approach was used to collect data on palliative care and end-of-life management practices.

Objective: To compare same-sitting bilateral vs unilateral retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) in elderly patients, focusing on postoperative complications and stone-free rates (SFR).
Methods: Data from 2 multicenter databases, FLEXible ureteroscopy Outcomes Registry (FLEXOR) (unilateral RIRS) and same sitting bilateral-retrograde intrarenal surgery (SSB-RIRS) (bilateral RIRS), were analyzed, considering only patients aged 70+ with preoperative computed tomography. Patients were categorized into Group 1 (bilateral RIRS) and Group 2 (unilateral RIRS).

Aims: The clinical benefits of mitral valve repair over replacement in the setting of mitral infective endocarditis are not clearly established.
Methods: Data of patients who underwent cardiac surgery for infective endocarditis over a 20-year period (2001-2021) at two cardiac centres were reviewed. Among them, 282 patients underwent native mitral valve surgery and were included in the study.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) consists of neurological development disorders that manifest before three years of age and affect social interactions, markedly restricting range of interests and activities, often associated with some degree of intellectual disability. Single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and positron emission tomography (PET) are non-invasive imaging tools to investigate the function of the brain in vivo. SPECT and PET studies exploring rCBF and brain glucose metabolism in patients with ASD have been performed, providing important insights into the brain regions involved in ASD.
