Purpose: To investigate the occurrence of vancomycin-variable enterococci (VVE) in a hospital in central Italy.
Methods: vanA positive but vancomycin-susceptible Enterococcus faecium isolates (VVE-S) were characterized by antibiotic susceptibility tests, molecular typing (PFGE and MLST), and WGS approach. The reversion of VVE-S to a resistant phenotype was assessed by exposure to increasing vancomycin concentrations, and the revertant isolates were used in filter mating experiments.

Context: Thulium fiber laser (TFL) emerged as a competitor of holmium:yttrium aluminum garnet (Ho:YAG) laser for the treatment of urinary stones.
Objective: To compare the efficacy between Ho:YAG and TFL for laser lithotripsy of renal and ureteral stones.
Evidence Acquisition: A literature search was conducted using PubMed/Medline, Embase, and Web of Science databases to identify reports published until May 2023.

Hyperkalaemia is one of the most common electrolyte disorders in patients with cardiovascular disease (CVD). The true burden of hyperkalaemia in the real-world setting can be difficult to assess, but in population-based cohort studies up to 4 in 10 patients developed hyperkalaemia. In addition to drugs interfering with potassium metabolism and food intake, several conditions can cause or worsen hyperkalaemia, such as advanced age, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease.

Background: Liver transplantation is the state-of-the-art curative treatment for end-stage liver disease. Imaging is a key element in the detection of postoperative complications. So far, limited data is available regarding the best radiologic approach to monitor children after liver transplantation.

Background: The availability of an appropriate newborn feeding policy is an essential component of the promotion of breastfeeding in health facilities. The Italian Society of Neonatology (SIN) and the Italian Society of Paediatrics (SIP) have run an online survey among Maternity Hospitals to explore the existing breastfeeding policies and their characteristics.
Methods: Between February and April 2023, an online survey was carried out among 110 Italian maternity hospitals with a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Purpose: We present a large real-world multicentric dataset of ovarian, uterine and cervical oligometastatic lesions treated with SBRT exploring efficacy and clinical outcomes. In addition, an exploratory machine learning analysis was performed.
Methods: A pooled analysis of gynecological oligometastases in terms of efficacy and clinical outcomes as well an exploratory machine learning model to predict the CR to SBRT were carried out.

Introduction: Despite several therapeutic efforts, lung cancer remains a highly lethal disease. Novel therapeutic approaches encompass immune-checkpoint inhibitors, targeted therapeutics and antibody-drug conjugates, with different results. Several studies have been aimed at identifying biomarkers able to predict benefit from these therapies and create a prediction model of response, despite this there is a lack of information to help clinicians in the choice of therapy for lung cancer patients with advanced disease.

: Minimally invasive cardiac surgery is an established approach for the treatment of heart valve pathologies and is associated with excellent technical and early postoperative outcomes. Data from medium- and long-term longitudinal evaluation of patients who underwent mitral valve repair (MVr) through transaxillary approach (TAxA) are still lacking. The aim of this study is to investigate mid-term results in patients who underwent TAxA MVr.

Background: Outcome comparisons among subcutaneous implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (S-ICD) recipients with nonischemic cardiomyopathies are scarce.
Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate differences in device-related outcomes among S-ICD recipients with different structural substrates.
Methods: Patients enrolled in the i-SUSI (International SUbcutaneouS Implantable cardioverter defibrillator registry) project were grouped according to the underlying substrate (ischemic vs nonischemic) and subgrouped into dilated cardiomyopathy, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, Brugada syndrome (BrS), arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC).

Background: There are limited real-world data on the extended prognosis of patients with drug-induced type 1 Brugada electrocardiogram (ECG).
Objective: We assessed the clinical outcomes and predictors of life-threatening arrhythmias in patients with drug-induced type 1 Brugada ECG.
Methods: This multicenter retrospective study, conducted at 21 Italian and Swiss hospitals from July 1997 to May 2021, included consecutive patients with drug-induced type 1 ECG.

Large B-cell lymphoma (LBCL) carrying MYC rearrangement, alone or together with BCL2 and/or BCL6 translocations, have shown a poor prognosis when treated with rituximab plus cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone (R-CHOP) in the HIV population. Scanty data are available on the prevalence and prognostic impact of MYC rearrangements in HIV-associated LBCL. We conducted a retrospective study to evaluate the clinical effect of MYC rearrangement in HIV-associated LBCL.

The advent of hybrid Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography (PET/CT) and PET/Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanners resulted in an increased clinical relevance of nuclear medicine in oncology. The use of [18F]-Fluorodeoxyglucose ([18F]FDG) has also made it possible to study tumors (including breast cancer) from not only a dimensional perspective but also from a metabolic point of view. In particular, the use of [18F]FDG PET allowed early confirmation of the efficacy or failure of therapy.

Coarctation of the aorta (CoA) is a congenital abnormality characterized by a narrowing of the aortic lumen, which can lead to significant morbidity and mortality if left untreated. Even after repair and despite significant advances in therapeutic management, these patients have overall reduced long-term survival due to the consequences of chronic afterload increase. Cardiovascular imaging is key from the first diagnosis to serial follow-up.

Advances in both imaging techniques and genetics have led to the recognition of a wide variety of aortic anomalies that can be grouped under the term 'hereditary thoracic aortic diseases'. The present review aims to summarize this very heterogeneous population's clinical, genetic, and imaging characteristics and to discuss the implications of the diagnosis for clinical counselling (on sports activity or pregnancy), medical therapies and surgical management.

The prognostic value of exercise stress test after complex left main (LM) coronary artery bifurcation (LM) stenting has been poorly investigated. To partially fill this gap in knowledge, we retrospectively analyzed the procedural and medical data of consecutive patients referred to our center for complex LM bifurcation disease between January 2008 and May 2018 who were treated using either single- or dual-stenting techniques. The prognostic impact of an exercise stress test, performed 6 months after the coronary intervention, was evaluated in 502 patients (316 males, mean age 70.
