Polysaccharide-based carriers as biomaterials for drug delivery have been inspiring scientists for years due to their exceptional characteristics, such as nontoxicity, biocompatibility, and degradability, as they are able to protect pharmaceutically active molecules and provide their controlled/modified release. This review focuses on selected drug delivery systems based on natural polymers, namely fucoidan, pullulan, dextran, and pectin, with the aim of highlighting published patent documents. The information contained in patents is very important because it is usually not published in any other document and is much less discussed as the state of the art in the scientific literature.

The recent decline in the health status of deep-sea habitats around the world has pushed the need to document and map their distribution to preserve them in their marine ecosystems. This work describes deep-water coral habitats (133-729 m) and their associated communities, based on nine ROV video transects. These transects cover a 171 km sub-seafloor profile within a predefined 5560 km area along the North Atlantic coast of Morocco, surveyed in 2020 as part of a coral habitat mapping study under the FAO-NANSEN programme.

This paper introduces a new advanced model for denoising and classification of ECG signals, focusing on the use of a hybrid filter and Bayesian optimization. The hybrid filter synergistically combines enhanced empirical mode decomposition (EEMD), Chebyshev Type II filters, Butterworth, Daubechies Wavelet, and Savitzky-Golay filters, leveraging their respective advantages for effective noise reduction while preserving the essential features of the ECG signal. We employ a multi-criteria Bayesian optimization process, using cross-correlation and mean squared error (MSE) as key metrics, to refine the filter parameters to further improve the signal quality.

Cervical cancer is the fourth most common type of cancer affecting the female population worldwide, and it is associated with a late diagnosis and a poor prognosis. It is thus imperative to improve modern diagnostic methods by searching for novel tumor biomarkers, such as proline-rich protein 11 (PRR11), the expression of which is deregulated in various types of cancer and participates in their cellular progression. However, the involvement of PRR11 in cervical cancer has not yet been fully elucidated.

Background Bladder urothelial carcinoma (BLCA) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, largely due to the high frequency of disease relapse and the lack of efficient endoscopic diagnostic methods. This study aimed to address this clinical gap by evaluating the potential of using adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) gene promoter methylation as a biomarker detectable in urine DNA of individuals with BLCA. Methods Methylation-specific PCR was used to determine the methylation status of the APC promoter gene in 50 bladder carcinoma patients and 50 apparently healthy individuals.

This study investigates the conduction mechanism of ternary sodium borophosphate glass 30NaO-(70 - )BO-PO with 0 ≤ ≤ 35 mol % from a different perspective, focusing on previously unreported high-temperature electrical and dielectric properties for potential solid electrolytes in high-temperature batteries. The glass composition with BO/PO = 1 exhibits a conductivity of approximately 10 S/cm at 250 °C. Dielectric analysis supports this improved conduction, showing higher dielectric values and minimal energy dissipation during storage, indicating promising conductivity and favorable dielectric properties.
