The new mobilities paradigm has been influential within the social sciences for the past two decades. And yet, psychology is undoubtably slow to incorporate mobility as a key lens through which to consider its subject area. In this editorial, I will make the case that we would benefit greatly from focusing more on personal, collective and psychological mobilities and the kinds of conceptual, methodological and practical challenges they raise.

Real-time tracking of epidemic helps governments and health authorities make timely data-driven decisions. Official mortality data, whenever reliable and available, is usually published with a substantial delay. We report results of using newspapers obituaries to "nowcast" the mortality levels observed in Italy during the COVID-19 outbreak between February 24, 2020 and April 15, 2020.

Cter apoA1 mimetic peptides were shown to reverse the deleterious anti-apoA1 IgG effects . We evaluated the association of anti-cter apoA1 IgGs with overall mortality in the general population and tested the ability of a cter apoA1 mimetic peptide to reverse the anti-apoA1 IgG-induced inflammatory response and mortality and , respectively.

Accurate estimation of the tibiofemoral contact forces relies on exact kinematics and joint geometry. Subject-specific kinematic constraints representing contact point trajectories derived from fluoroscopic measurements during lunge are introduced in a musculoskeletal model of the lower limb and compared to generic kinematic constraints. The medial, lateral, and total contact forces during gait and squat are validated using the data of four patients with an instrumented prosthesis.

This study compared gait speed changes after CSF tap test in patients with idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus presenting with various gait phenotypes (frontal, parkinsonian, normal, or other). All patients improved, except those with parkinsonian gait.

Mannose phosphate isomerase MPI-CDG (formerly CDG-1b) is a potentially fatal inherited metabolic disease which is readily treatable with oral D-mannose. We retrospectively reviewed long-term outcomes of patients with MPI-CDG, all but one of whom were treated with D-mannose. Clinical, biological, and histological data were reviewed at diagnosis and on D-mannose treatment.

Why do people sometimes report that they remember dreams, while at other times they recall no experience? Despite the interest in dreams that may happen during the night, it has remained unclear which brain states determine whether these conscious experiences will occur and what prevents us from waking up during these episodes. Here we address this issue by comparing the EEG activity preceding awakenings with recalled vs. no recall of dreams using the EEG microstate approach.

Appropriate and timely deployment of disease management depends on early disease detection. Incorrect and delayed diagnosis can result in either excessive or inadequate use of chemicals, with increased production costs and increased environmental and health impacts.

We provide results on the level of COVID-19 excess mortality in the Italian region of Lombardy and in the province of Bergamo using official and original data sources. Since February 2020 Lombardy and in particular the province of Bergamo have been severely hit by the novel COVID-19 infectious disease. Combining official statistics, retrospective data and original data (i.

However, it is unclear which morphological traits are the best estimators of abiotic conditions, how those traits are correlated with functional outcomes in cold tolerance, and whether there are regional differences in trait expression. We used a combination of controlled laboratory assays, and collaborative field collections of invasive in different areas of the United States, to study the factors affecting phenotype variability of this temperate fruit pest now found globally.

Acute respiratory infection (ARI) accounts for over two-thirds of total antibiotic prescriptions although most are caused by viruses that do not benefit from antibiotics. Most antibiotics are prescribed in the outpatients setting. Antibiotic overuse leads to antibiotic-related adverse events (AEs), inclusive of secondary infections, resistance, and increased costs.

Introduction: Central neurological gait abnormalities (CNGA; i.e. frontal or parkinsonian) are frequently associated with neurodegenerative conditions in older adults, but their pathophysiological substrates remain poorly described.

Disorders/differences of sex development (DSD) cause profound psychological and reproductive consequences for the affected individuals, however, most are still unexplained at the molecular level. Here, we present a novel gene, 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A synthase 2 (HMGCS2), encoding a metabolic enzyme in the liver important for energy production from fatty acids, that shows an unusual expression pattern in developing fetal mouse gonads. Shortly after gonadal sex determination it is up-regulated in the developing testes following a very similar spatial and temporal pattern as the male-determining gene Sry in Sertoli cells before switching to ovarian enriched expression.

Unhealthy weight gain and diabetes are global challenges that threaten not only the well-beings of hundreds of millions of persons but also the global economy. The authors in this article describe two overlapping stories, one is about a 150-year-old diet, known as the Banting Diet, which is similar to the Atkins or Keto Diet, and the other is about a provider-patient relationship story that helped the patient make lifestyle modifications that were effective in significant weight loss, improved quality of life, and reduced need for exogenous insulin for Type 2 diabetes. Both of the stories are from England but might be useful worldwide.

Musculoskeletal models generally solve the muscular redundancy by numerical optimisation. They have been extensively validated using instrumented implants. Conversely, a reduction approach considers only one flexor or extensor muscle group at the time to equilibrate the inter-segmental joint moment.

Clinical gait analysis attempts to provide, in a pathological context, an objective record that quantifies the magnitude of deviations from normal gait. However, the identification of deviations is highly dependent with the characteristics of the normative database used. In particular, a mismatch between patient characteristics and an asymptomatic population database in terms of walking speed, demographic and anthropometric parameters may lead to misinterpretation during the clinical process.

With the approval of pembrolizumab for first- and second-line treatment of PD-L1+ non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), PD-L1 testing by immunohistochemistry (IHC) has become a necessity. However, the DAKO autostainer ASL48 for the FDA approved DAKO 22C3 pharmDx assay is not broadly available in Switzerland and other parts of Europe. The primary goal of this study was to cross-validate the 22C3 anti-PD-L1 antibody on Benchmark Ultra (VBMU) and Leica Bond (LBO) immunostainers.

Invasive animals depend on finding a balanced nutritional intake to colonize, survive, and reproduce in new environments. This can be especially challenging during situations of fluctuating cold temperatures and food scarcity, but phenotypic plasticity may offer an adaptive advantage during these periods. We examined how lifespan, fecundity, pre-oviposition periods, and body nutrient contents were affected by dietary protein and carbohydrate (P:C) ratios at variable low temperatures in two morphs (winter morphs WM and summer morphs SM) of an invasive fly, The experimental conditions simulated early spring after overwintering and autumn, crucial periods for survival.

The temporal structure of self-generated cognition is a key attribute to the formation of a meaningful stream of consciousness. When at rest, our mind wanders from thought to thought in distinct mental states. Despite the marked importance of ongoing mental processes, it is challenging to capture and relate these states to specific cognitive contents.
