Introduction: Ulnar mononeuropathy at the elbow is the second most frequent neuropathy in humans. Diagnosis is based on clinical and electrophysiological criteria and, more recently, also on ultrasound. Cross-sectional ultrasound is currently the most valued, although longitudinal ultrasound allows assessment of the entire affected trajectory of the nerve in a single view, but always in a straight line with no changes in direction, as in the extended elbow.

The diagnosis of alcohol use disorder (AUD) remains a difficult challenge, and some patients may not be adequately diagnosed. This study aims to identify an optimum combination of laboratory markers to detect alcohol consumption, using data science. An analytical observational study was conducted with 337 subjects (253 men and 83 women, with a mean age of 44 years (10.

Lung cancer can sometimes invade vital adjacent mediastinal structures, such as the descending thoracic aorta. We describe 2 cases where pulmonary resection was performed en bloc including a patch of the descending thoracic aorta. These procedures were easily performed using an aortic endoprosthesis in the same anesthetic procedure.

Objective: A retrospective study, using a prospective database, was conducted on patients treated with surgery in order to analyze the prognosis between two groups: NSCLC (non-small cell lung cancer) patients with occult N2 disease and patients with single station N2 disease observed on pre-operative integrated PET/CT scan.

Methods: A total of 772 patients underwent surgical treatment for lung cancer from January 2007 to December 2014. All of them had an integrated PET/CT scan in the pre-operative work-up and a pulmonary resection plus mediastinal lymphadenectomy were performed in all cases.

A dobutamine stress echocardiogram was performed in a 72-year-old woman to assess an intermediate lesion in the left anterior descending artery. After administration of the echocardiography contrast agent, she presented with an anaphylactic reaction and in that context a subacute thrombosis of a drug-eluting stent implanted 15 days before. This is a case of the so-called type III Kounis syndrome.

Objective: F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose integrated PET-CT scan is commonly used in the work-up of lung cancer to improve preoperative disease stage. The aim of the study was to analyze the ratio between SUVmax of N1 lymph nodes and primary lung cancer to establish prediction of mediastinal disease (N2) in patients operated on non-small cell lung cancer.

Material And Method: This is a retrospective study of a prospective database.

The use of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for the detection of IgG and IgM antibodies antibrucella has become widespread in the diagnosis of human brucellosis. IgM anti-Brucella antibodies are indicative of acute infection. Between 2009-2013, 5307 patients were evaluated for serologic diagnosis at the Microbiology Laboratory of the Albacete General Hospital.

Characterization of retinal cells, cell transplants and gene therapies may be helped by pre-labeled retinal cells, such as those transfected with vectors for green fluorescent protein expression. The aim of this study was to analyze retinal cells and optic nerve components from transgenic green mice (GM) with the 'enhanced' green fluorescent protein (EGFP) gene under the control of the CAG promoter (a chicken β-actin promoter and a cytomegalovirus enhancer). The structural analysis and electroretinography recordings showed a normal, healthy retina.

Background: Src is a non-receptor tyrosine kinase involved in signalling and crosstalk between growth-promoting pathways. We aim to investigate the relationship of active Src in response to trastuzumab of HER2-positive breast carcinomas.

Methods: We selected 278 HER2-positive breast cancer patients with (n=154) and without (n=124) trastuzumab treatment.

Analysis of Expression of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor A and Hypoxia Inducible Factor-1alpha in Patients Operated on Stage I Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer.

Lung Cancer Int

August 2015

Thoracic Surgery, University General Hospital of Valencia and Surgery Department of the School of Medicine and Odontology, University of Valencia, 15 Blasco Ibáñez Avenue, 46010 Valencia, Spain.

Objectives. Recent studies show that expression of hypoxia inducible factor-1alpha (HIF-1α) favours expression of vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), and these biomarkers are linked to cellular proliferation, angiogenesis, and metastasis in different cancers. We analyze expression of HIF-1α and VEGF-A to clinicopathologic features and survival of patients operated on stage I non-small-cell lung cancer.

Aims: Nitric oxide (NO) is synthesized from L-arginine (L-Arg) by three different isoforms of NO synthase (NOS), i.e. the constitutive neuronal and endothelial NOS (nNOS and eNOS) and the inducible NOS (iNOS).
