: Gestural production, a crucial aspect of nonverbal communication, plays a key role in the development of verbal and socio-communicative skills. Delays in gestural development often impede verbal acquisition and social interaction in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Although various interventions for ASD focus on improving socio-communicative abilities, they consistently highlight the importance of integrating gestures to support overall communication development.

Aim: The intricate structure of the tooth root canals has a role in the colonization and biofilm formation in hidden areas that are hardly reached by standard endodontic treatments. This review aims at summarizing data from and studies for a better understanding of the application of cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) for the disinfection of dental root canals.
Methods: PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases were screened.

This article presents a case study of a novel modification of the A-T flap, known as "Sorting Hat" flap, employed in dermatologic surgery for facial reconstruction. In the treatment of an 89-year-old male's squamous cell carcinoma lesion on the forehead, the "Sorting Hat" flap, introduced as an innovative alternative, eliminates the need for Burrow triangles and relies on flap shape for inconspicuous scarring and favorable cosmetic outcomes.

Background/objectives: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is one of the most common neurodegenerative diseases, for which a definitive cure is still missing. Recently, natural compounds have been investigated for their possible neuroprotective role, including the bioactivated product of glucoraphanin (GRA), the sulforaphane (SFN), which is highly rich in cruciferous vegetables. It is known that SFN alleviates neuronal dysfunction, apoptosis, and oxidative stress in the brain.

The increase in food waste accumulation needs innovative valorization strategies that not only reduce environmental impacts but also provide functional applications. This study investigates the potential of almond hulls, an abundant agricultural by-product, as a source of bioactive compounds. For the first time, almond hull extract (AHE), was evaluated in terms of anti-adhesive and anti-biofilm activity against ATCC 29213 and ATCC 9637.

Objectives: To report the occurrence of the regression of the flow signal from the neovascular network in macular neovascularizations (MNVs), developing in the context of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), treated with faricimab in a treat-and-extend regimen.
Methods: Eyes affected by AMD-related MNV and treated with faricimab intravitreal injections in a treat-and-extend (TE) regimen were consecutively retrospectively screened in five specialized retina centers. Changes in neovascular network characteristics during the course of the treatment were analyzed.

Background And Objectives: Clinical practice reveals that individuals with autism characterized by the absence of cognitive impairment (High Functioning Autism-HFA) show difficulty in sharing attention with unfamiliar people. We hypothesized that this difficulty could affect cognitive control by selectively impairing stimulus-encoding or response-selection.
Methods: Twenty-one HFA and 23 neurotypical adults were involved in a two-phase study.

Introduction: In recent years, advancements in technology and the refinement of engineering techniques have facilitated the development of tissue engineering, placing particular emphasis on the use of 3D-biomaterials with several structural and chemical geometric features. In particular, increasing information on biomaterial geometric surfaces has allowed for a better understanding of tissue regenerative processes. In the present study a comparison between BioRipar, bovine pericardium membrane, modified with micrometric roundish regular open pores (BioR-Ps) and BioRipar without pores (BioR-NPs) has been investigated.

Humans exposed to altitude hypoxia experience dysfunctions of the urinary system. As a non-invasive, easily manageable and informative biological sample, urine represents a relevant matrix for detecting clinical impairments of urinary system, as well as alterations of other systems and extracellular vesicles (EVs) biology during high-altitude expeditions. Nevertheless, gaps exist in the comprehensive assessment of dysfunction, molecular burden and EVs biology due to high-altitude acute exposure.

The pathogenesis of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) involves complex mechanisms, including immune dysregulation, gut microbiota imbalances, oxidative stress, and defects in the gastrointestinal mucosal barrier. Current treatments for IBD often have significant limitations and adverse side effects, prompting a search for alternative therapeutic strategies. Natural products with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties have demonstrated potential for IBD management.
