The aim of this research study was to analyse the associations between BMI categories and short- and long-term mortality in patients with or without diabetes seeking care at the emergency department (ED) with acute dyspnoea.

Population And Methods: Patients aged ≥18 years at ED during daytime on weekdays from March 2013 to July 2018 were included.

Background: The results of previous studies of the relationship between serum uric acid (SUA) and the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) have been inconsistent due to confounding factors caused by other known cardiovascular risk factors.

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between SUA and incident CVD in middle-aged and elderly Chinese people, who were stratified according to body mass index (BMI).

Methods: This study recruited 5,721 participants of 40-75 years of age, who were free of CVD at baseline and who underwent follow-up from 2008 to 2017.

Anorectal Melanoma Misdiagnosed as Hemorrhoids: A Case Report and Review of the Literature.

Anorectal melanoma is a rare and aggressive malignant neoplasm with an indolent course, manifesting with nonspecific symptoms and a poor prognosis. We present a case of anorectal melanoma that was initially treated as hemorrhoids and correctly diagnosed after lower gastrointestinal endoscopy. We also present the latest findings in the literature about anorectal melanomas and discuss updates about treatment options and management.

Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy in an elderly immunocompetent-appearing patient: Relevance with L-selectin (CD62L) expression and immunosenescence.

Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML) is attributed to reactivation of the John Cunningham virus (JCV), in the central nervous system as a result of immunosuppression. Low L-selectin (CD62L) expression on cryopreserved T-cells has been advocated as a biomarker for natalizumab related PML in patients with Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis. A rare case of PML in an elderly patient without known factors of immunosuppression or immunomodulation is hereby presented.

This is a case report describing a patient with severe thyroid eye disease complicated with dysthyroid optic neuropathy that was unresponsive to intravenous steroids and orbital radiotherapy but responded well to intravenous tocilizumab.

The Hypnotic Induction Profile (HIP) was developed as a brief, yet thorough, assessment of a person's level of trait hypnotizability and their potential to experience a hypnotic state. The HIP quantitatively and qualitatively measures hynotizability by evaluating biological and sensorimotor experiences designed to assess 3 fundamental observable and measurable components of hypnosis: absorption, dissociation, and suggestibility through a guided assessment that takes 5 to 10 minutes. From conception, the HIP has been utilized in clinical settings to assess appropriateness for the use of hypnosis in treatment planning and research protocols to stratify research participants.

Immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is a systemic fibroinflammatory disease characterised by multiorgan lymphoplasmacytic infiltration, obliterative phlebitis and storiform fibrosis. It can be associated with cardiovascular pathology. The objective of this narrative review is to summarise the published literature on cardiovascular manifestations of IgG4-RD and to provide a basis for diagnosis and management of the condition by the practising cardiologist.

Introduction: Much emphasis is being placed on the role of music therapy as an easy-to-use, noninvasive and relatively cheap method of asthma treatment. The objective of this interventional double-blinded randomized controlled trial was to assess whether music therapy, as a complementary modality to pulmonary rehabilitation, can help to improve respiratory drive, asthma control and quality of life in patients with asthma exacerbation.

Malnutrition has been defined as a “state resulting from lack of uptake or intake of nutrition, leading to altered body composition and body cell mass, as well as to diminished physical and mental function and impaired clinical outcome from disease.” Particularly for the multimorbid medical inpatient, there are multiple research studies linking malnutrition to adverse clinical outcomes independent of type of acute and chronic illnesses. Importantly, recent trials have shown that malnutrition is indeed a modifiable risk factor with specific individualised nutritional support interventions started at hospital admission having positive effects on the risk of complications, mortality, functional outcomes, rehospitalisation and quality of life.

Extraosseous Ewing sarcoma is an uncommon entity in the adult population. Cardiac metastases or local invasion of a tumor into the heart is a known but also infrequent occurrence for most malignancies. We present a case of a patient with a history of extraosseous Ewing sarcoma who presented to the emergency room with chest pain and was found to have an inferior ST-elevation myocardial infarction and systemic emboli and was found to have recurrence of sarcoma invading the left atrium.

Background: Ramucirumab-an IgG1 vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 antagonist-plus docetaxel was previously reported to improve progression-free survival in platinum-refractory, advanced urothelial carcinoma. Here, we report the secondary endpoint of overall survival results for the RANGE trial.

Methods: We did a randomised, double-blind, phase 3 trial in patients with advanced or metastatic urothelial carcinoma who progressed during or after platinum-based chemotherapy.
