Inclusion of clinical photographs with general dental practitioner electronic referrals of patients with oral mucosal disease to secondary care: a service review.

Introduction This service evaluation reviewed how the inclusion of photographs in dentist referrals to an oral medicine specialist service can improve the service for triage, prioritisation and diagnosis.Materials and methods Data were prospectively collected from e-referrals over a four-month period. Any change in appointment prioritisation resulting from review of photographs at the vetting stage was recorded.

Between-year and spatial variation in body condition across the breeding cycle in a pelagic seabird, the Red-billed Tropicbird.

Body condition in pelagic seabirds impacts key fitness-related traits such as reproductive performance and breeding frequency. Regulation of body condition can be especially important for species with long incubation periods and long individual incubation shifts between foraging trips. Here, we show that body condition of adult Red-billed Tropicbirds () at St Helena Island, South Atlantic Ocean, exhibited considerable variation between years (2013-2017) and between different stages of the breeding cycle.

Blood investigations prior to oral surgery for suspected alcohol-induced coagulopathy. Are they necessary?

Objective: To evaluate the current practice of pre-oral surgery haematological investigation in patients with disclosed regular and prolonged high alcohol consumption above the national recommendation for coagulopathy due to potential alcohol induced liver impairment.

The use of cone beam computed tomography in planning supernumerary cases.

This paper presents a series of four supernumerary cases where the use of further investigation with CBCT facilitated in the treatment planning process. The cases highlight different problems encountered when treatment planning this group of patients.

Cone beam computed tomography: a useful tool in orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning.

The aim of this article is to make clinicians aware of the use of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) within the field of orthodontics. The paper describes five cases each one illustrating the improved diagnostic yield using CBCT over conventional radiography thus facilitating the appropriate treatment planning of patients.
