Comparison of Multidrug Use in the General Population and among Persons with Diabetes in Denmark for Drugs Having Pharmacogenomics (PGx) Based Dosing Guidelines.

Background: This study measures the use of drugs within the therapeutic areas of antithrombotic agents (B01), the cardiovascular system (C), analgesics (N02), psycholeptics (N05), and psychoanaleptics (N06) among the general population (GP) in comparison to persons with diabetes in Denmark. The study focuses on drugs having pharmacogenomics (PGx) based dosing guidelines for CYP2D6, CYP2C19, and SLCO1B1 to explore the potential of applying PGx-based decision-making into clinical practice taking drug-drug interactions (DDI) and drug-gene interactions (DGI) into account.

Methods: This study is cross-sectional, using The Danish Register of Medicinal Product Statistics as the source to retrieve drug consumption data.

Older age, smoking, tooth loss and denture-wearing but neither xerostomia nor salivary gland hypofunction are associated with low intakes of fruit and vegetables in older Danish adults.

Xerostomia and salivary gland hypofunction are prevalent conditions in older people and may adversely influence the intake of certain foods, notably fruit and vegetables. Here, we aimed to investigate whether xerostomia and salivary gland hypofunction were associated with a lower intake of fruit and vegetables. The study included 621 community-dwelling adults, mean age 75⋅2 ± 6⋅4 years, 58⋅9 % female, who had participated in the Copenhagen City Heart Study follow-up, and undergone interviews regarding food intake (preceding month), oral and general health (xerostomia, taste alterations, diseases, medication, alcohol consumption and smoking), clinical oral examination and measurements of unstimulated and chewing-stimulated whole saliva flow rates.

Study protocol designed to investigate tumour response to calcium electroporation in cancers affecting the skin: a non-randomised phase II clinical trial.

Introduction: Skin malignancy is a distressing problem for many patients, and clinical management is challenging. This article describes the protocol for the Calcium Electroporation Response Study (CaEP-R) designed to investigate tumour response to calcium electroporation and is a descriptive guide to calcium electroporation treatment of malignant tumours in the skin. Calcium electroporation is a local treatment that induces supraphysiological intracellular calcium levels by intratumoural calcium administration and application of electrical pulses.

Patient-centeredness in Physiotherapy - A literature mapping review.

Background And Purpose: Research on patient-centeredness within physiotherapy points to a need for clarification about what the concept entails in science and practice and how research positions itself within health care. Thus, the aim is to systematically map the characteristics of research on patient-centeredness in physiotherapy and critically discuss the dominant understandings within.

Background: Social media platforms provide new possibilities within health research. With Facebook being the largest social network in the world, it constitutes a potential platform for recruitment and data collection from women of reproductive age. Women in Denmark and in other Western countries postpone motherhood and risk infertility due to their advanced age when they try to conceive.

Dementia-Friendliness in Danish and International Contexts: A Critical Discourse Analysis.

Background And Objectives: Initiatives to create dementia-friendly environments are subject to political attention all over the world. As the interpretation of dementia-friendliness is influenced by current cultural trends, the concept is highly ambiguous. The present study aims to explore how discourses concerning dementia-friendliness are manifested in Danish and international policy documents and how they interact internationally.

Knowledge of mothers and fathers' experiences of the early in-home care of premature infants supported by video consultations with a neonatal nurse.

Aim: To gain in-depth knowledge of mothers' and fathers' experiences of the whole trajectory of an early in-home care programme supported by video consultations with a neonatal nurse.

Design: A qualitative interview study.

Methods: Data were collected through dyadic semi-structured interviews with mothers and fathers participating in virtual early in-home care programmes and were subjected to inductive content analysis.

Resemblance in accelerometer-assessed physical activity in families with children: the Lolland-Falster Health Study.

Background: Evidence of intra-family resemblance in physical activity (PA) is lacking. The association between parent and child PA appears weak, the influence of age and gender on this association is uncertain, and no studies have investigated the degree of resemblance in family members' PA behaviours such as walking, sitting/lying, and biking. Thus, the aims of the study were to examine the degree of resemblance in PA within families, specifically between parents and children, and to explore the size of resemblance across age of children, gender of parents and children, and intensity and type of PA.

Individualised physical exercise training and enhanced protein intake in older citizens during municipality-based rehabilitation: protocol for a randomised controlled trial.

Introduction: Successful rehabilitation of the growing number of older citizens receiving healthcare services can lead to preservation of functional independence and improvement in quality of life. Adequate intake of dietary protein and physical training are key factors in counteracting the age-related decline in strength performance and physical function. However, during rehabilitation, many older people/persons have insufficient protein intake, and difficulties in performing exercise training with sufficient intensity and volume.

The impact of The Florence Network in advancing nursing and midwifery in Europe.

Diversity of the nursing workforce and multiculturalism of European cities have mandated the need for culturally sensitive nurses and midwives able to provide effective, engaging, high quality and socially just healthcare. The Florence Network is a professional network that aims to bring together like-minded professionals and to cultivate relationships amongst nurses and midwives from different European Union (EU) countries to create synergies on matters of common interest by transcending national and cultural barriers. A qualitative study based upon a focus group interview was conducted with six former Presidents and one present President of the Florence Network, each with a tenure of two years.

A career open to the talents-Nurses' doing and focus during the history.

Based on a historical and a contemporary fieldwork at a Danish hospital, this article offers a genealogical and philosophical exploration of the development of nurses' doing and focus within a hospital setting from the 1800 s to the present day. This exploration finds that nurses' doing has changed during history, which is reflected in their focus. Thus, nurses' focus has developed from, what the Danish philosopher Uffe Juul Jensen refers to as a situation-oriented, to a disease-oriented practice, and while new values are established, the conception of care as a core value in nursing seems to have receded.

Play with Your Food and Cook It! Tactile Play with Fish as a Way of Promoting Acceptance of Fish in 11- to 13-Year-Old Children in a School Setting-A Qualitative Study.

Despite a tradition of consuming fish in Denmark and despite the health benefits of eating fish, Danish children consume only one-third of the officially recommended amount of fish. The objective of this study was to explore an experiential and sensory-based exercise in a school setting with focus on tactile play and cooking as a way of promoting 11- to 13-year-old children's acceptance of fish. The design was a qualitative exploratory multiple-case design using participant observation in a school setting.

Acute effects of night work and meals on blood glucose levels.

Employees working at night are at increased risk of diabetes. A possible mechanism is related to differences in glucose regulation at night. Laboratory simulated night work studies show regulation of blood glucose is impaired at night.

Healthcare Professionals' and Users' Experiences of Intersectoral Care between Hospital and Community Mental Healthcare.

This paper explores healthcare professionals' and users' experience of coherent intersectoral care between hospital mental healthcare and community mental healthcare. A total of 20 healthcare professionals, primarily nurses, and 14 users with a range of mental illnesses participated in nine focus group interviews (FGIs). Participants were encouraged in the FGIs to reflect upon their experience of coherency in intersectoral care.

Background: Nursing tasks are changing as the proportion of people over the age of 65 years is increasing and is expected to double over the next four decades. New innovative solutions such as Point of Care Treatment (POCT) are being tested in oncological settings in order to optimise treatment, and this changes the nurse management in oncology. There is a need to explore oncology nurses' perception and experience when implementing the innovations in order to understand the implications for nursing and the treatment of older patients with cancer.

International migration is a complex phenomenon that touches on a multiplicity of economic, social and security aspects affecting our daily lives. In the Nordic countries' migration is a contentious political topic as the number of migrants has significantly increased in recent decades. The aim of this study is to analyse governmental policy documents on migrants in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden and to identify and compare how they are described within an empowerment perspective.
