Nephrogenic adenoma of the urinary bladder is a rare, benign lesion associated with prior inflammation or irritation of the urothelium. Although typically benign, nephrogenic adenoma can present diagnostic challenges due to its potential to mimic malignant tumors of the urinary tract. In this report, we present a case of an elderly woman with a history of recurrent urinary tract infections and bladder stone surgery who developed nephrogenic adenoma.

Background: A considerable number of symptomatic patients leave the cardiac catheterization lab without a definitive diagnosis for their symptoms because no epicardial stenoses are found. The significance of disorders of coronary microvasculature and vasomotion as the cause of symptoms and signs of ischemia has only recently been appreciated. Today we have a wide spectrum of invasive coronary physiology tools but little is known about when and how these tools are used in clinical practice.

Cancer-promoting proinflammatory microenvironment influences colorectal cancer (CRC) development. We examined the biomarkers of inflammation, intestinal differentiation, and DNA activity correlated with the clinical parameters to observe progression and prognosis in the adenocarcinoma subtype of CRC. Their immunohistology, immunoblotting, and RT-PCR analyses were performed in the adenocarcinoma and neighboring healthy tissues of 64 patients with CRC after routine colorectal surgery.

Background: Bortezomib, dexamethasone and cyclophosphamide (VCd) remains a popular regimen, due to its activity and low toxicity, while bortezomib, lenalidomide and dexamethasone (VRd) is widely used in US and Europe; both are combined with anti-CD38 monoclonal antibodies but VCd and VRd have not been compared directly in adequately powered prospective trials.
Aim: We compared the outcomes of 1216 patients treated with VCd (N = 690) or VRd (N = 526) in a real-world setting.
Results: Patients treated with VCd had more often severe renal dysfunction, ISS-3 disease, hypercalcemia, elevated LDH, anemia, thrombocytopenia, poor performance while VRd-treated were older and received less often autologous transplant but more frequently maintenance but the duration of induction was similar.

Introduction: Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) are derived by reprogramming adult somatic cells using a forced expression of four specific transcription factors in a highly controlled artificial environment. The aim of this paper is to examine the knowledge about these cells of the general population and the population of health workers in relation to gender.
Methods: The research was designed as a cohort study conducted with a validated questionnaire to assess knowledge about iPSCs.

Sarcoidosis is an inflammatory condition that can affect multiple organ systems and is characterized by the formation of non-caseating granulomas in various organs, including the heart. Due to suboptimal diagnostic rates, the true prevalence and incidence of cardiac sarcoidosis (CS) remain to be determined. In patients with suspected CS, an initial examination should include 12-lead ECG or ambulatory ECG monitoring, and echocardiography with the estimation of LV, RV function, and strain rate.

Considering detrimental impacts of combustible cigarettes (CCs) on the exacerbation of diabetes mellitus (DM), a significant number of DM patients have substituted CCs with electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS). Herewith, we compared CCs and ENDS-dependent modulation of immune cell-driven inflammation in DM patients who used ENDS (DM), CCs (DM) or were non-smokers (DM), paving the way for the better understanding of ENDS-induced biological effects. Multiple low dose streptozotocin (MLD-STZ)-induced mice model of DM was used to support clinical findings.

Systemic arterial hypertension (HTN) is the main cause of morbidity and mortality, and HTN crises contribute significantly to an unfavourable clinical course. For decades, HTN crises have been dichotomized into hypertensive emergency (HTN-E) and hypertensive urgency (HTN-U). The main difference between the two is the presence of acute hypertension-mediated organ damage (HMOD) - if HMOD is present, HTN crisis is HTN-E; if not, it is HTN-U.

The global shift from open esophagectomy (OE) to minimally invasive esophagectomy (MIE) for treating esophageal cancer is well-established. Recent data indicate that transitioning from hybrid minimally invasive esophagectomy (hMIE) to total minimally invasive esophagectomy (tMIE) can be challenging due to concerns about higher leakage rates and lower lymph node counts, especially at the beginning of the learning curve. This study aimed to demonstrate that a safe transition from OE to tMIE for cancer is possible using process management methodology.

Introduction: The effects of combustible cigarettes (CCs) and electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS) on immune cell-driven colon inflammation and intestinal healing of patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) are still unknown and, therefore, were examined in this study.
Methods: Intracellular staining and flow cytometry analysis of immune cells isolated from UC patients who used ENDS (UCENDS), CCs (UCCC) and who were non-smokers (UCAIR) were performed to elucidate cellular mechanisms which were responsible for CCs and ENDS-dependent modulation of immune response during UC progression. Additionally, dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-colitis was induced in ENDS/CC/air-exposed mice (DSSENDS/ DSSCC/DSSAIR groups) to support clinical findings.

Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is a non-traumatic, non-atherosclerotic layering of the coronary artery wall due to the presence of a subintimal hematoma or an intimal tear with the creation of a false lumen that compresses the true lumen and restricts or obstructs the flow. Patients with SCAD and preserved coronary flow are treated conservatively according to the general recommendations. However, percutaneous coronary intervention should be considered in patients with artery occlusion and/or refractory ischemia.

We present a detailed description and the preliminary results of our original technique for non-invasive three-dimensional tumor localization in the breast, which was created as an alternative to standard invasive tumor marking before neoadjuvant systemic therapy (NAST), aiming to enable adequate surgery after complete tumor regression. A detailed description of the technique is provided in the main text. The technique's feasibility and precision were assessed in a single-arm, prospective study based on the histological parameters of the adequacy and rationality of the excision of completely regressed tumor beds.

Smoke derived from combustible cigarettes (CCs) contains numerous harmful chemicals that can impair the viability, proliferation, and activation of immune cells, affecting the progression of chronic inflammatory diseases. In order to avoid the detrimental effects of cigarette smoking, many CC users have replaced CCs with heated tobacco products (HTPs). Due to different methods of tobacco processing, CC-sourced smoke and HTP-derived aerosols contain different chemical constituents.
