Secretomes of mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) are emerging as a novel growth factor (GF)-based strategy for periodontal and bone regeneration. The objective of this study was to compare the secretome of human bone marrow MSC (BMSC) to that of leukocyte- and platelet-rich fibrin (L-PRF), an established GF-based therapy, in the context of wound healing and regeneration. Conditioned media from human BMSCs (BMSC-CM) and L-PRF (LPRF-CM) were subjected to quantitative proteomic analysis using liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry.

Aim: To assess whether oral health problems affect disease-specific quality of life (QoL) of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients, and vice versa, whether IBD affects oral-health-related QoL.
Materials And Methods: Individuals reporting IBD and matched controls were surveyed on general anamnestic information, oral-health-related questions and the Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP)-5. IBD patients were additionally surveyed on years since diagnosis, disease activity and severity as well as health-related QoL (Short Inflammatory Bowel Disease Questionnaire, sIBDQ).

In comparison to inhumations, information about the deceased is much more limited and dependent on fragmentation, selection of body regions, taphonomic processes, and excavation techniques. So far, little attention has been paid to the context in which urns are buried.

Background: Despite high rates of successful outcomes after open and arthroscopic distal clavicle excision (DCE) for symptomatic acromioclavicular joint (ACJ) degeneration, some patients present with persistent symptoms and disabilities after surgical intervention. This study aims to compare radiological, functional, and subjective outcomes of open revision surgery after failed arthroscopic DCE to primary successful arthroscopic DCE.
Methods: In this retrospective case-control study, 10 patients who underwent open DCE revision were age- and gender-matched with 10 patients who did not require revision surgery after DCE.

Previous studies suggest that engineered extracellular matrices enhance the regenerative capacity of mesenchymal stromal cells. Essential for improving the accuracy and reliability of bowel cancer screening, three-dimensional (3D) surface reconstruction using capsule endoscopy (CE) images remains challenging due to CE hardware and software limitations. This report generally focuses on challenges associated with 3D visualization and specifically investigates the impact of the indeterminate selection of the angle of the line-of-sight on 3D surfaces. Furthermore, it demonstrates that impact through 3D surfaces viewed at the same azimuth angles and different elevation angles of the line-of-sight.

The capacity of a tissue to continuously alter its phenotype lies at the heart of how an animal is able to quickly adapt to changes in environmental stimuli. Within tissues, differentiated cells are rigid and play a limited role in adapting to new environments; however, differentiated cells are replenished by stem cells that are defined by their phenotypic plasticity. Here we demonstrate that a Wnt-responsive stem cell niche in the junctional epithelium is responsible for the capability of this tissue to quickly adapt to changes in the physical consistency of a diet.

Background: The aim of this double-blind randomized placebo-controlled clinical trial was to evaluate the efficacy of a multinutrient supplement as an add-on therapy to scaling and root planing for patients with periodontitis.
Methods: Forty-two patients with stage III or IV periodontitis were randomly allocated to a 2-month treatment of either a multinutrient supplement containing vitamin C, vitamin E, zinc, selenium, alpha-lipoic-acid, cranberry extract, grapeseed extract, and coenzyme Q10 or placebo capsules as an adjunct to conservative periodontal therapy. Periodontal parameters, including probing pocket depth, gingival recession, bleeding on probing, approximal plaque index, and papillary bleeding index, were assessed.

Microvascular reconstruction of the cheek is most often performed using fasciocutaneous flaps and without functional reconstruction of the masseter muscle. This article reports a technique of masseter muscle resection, dissection of the masseteric nerve, and masseter muscle reconstruction with a functional gracilis muscle flap. The technique was applied in a 38-year-old man with recurrent intramuscular lipoma of the right masseter muscle.

Objectives: To study whether damaged epithelial cells and gingival fibroblast could affect the expression of inflammatory cytokines in healthy cells.
Materials And Methods: Cell suspensions were submitted to different treatments to obtain the lysates: no treatment (supernatant control), sonication, and freeze/thawing. All treatments were centrifuged, and the supernatants of the lysates were used for experimentation.

Objective: The study aimed to assess the usefulness of a bovine bone substitute material in treating cystic lesions in the jaw with a maximum diameter of <4 cm.
Material And Methods: In this prospective, randomized, single-blind intervention study of 116 patients, 61 underwent cystectomy with a subsequent filling of the defect using a bovine xenograft, and 55 underwent cystectomy alone. Volumetric measurement of the cysts was performed preoperatively and 6 and 12 months postoperatively using the available digital volume tomography data sets.

Orthodontic treatment is based on complex strategies and takes up to years until a desired therapeutic outcome is accomplished, implying long periods of high costs and discomfort for the patient. The spatial boundaries of tissue response to wounding are unknown. Here, we show that in mammals, the ribosomal protein S6 (rpS6) is phosphorylated in response to skin injury, forming a zone of activation surrounding the region of the initial insult. This p-rpS6-zone forms within minutes after wounding and is present until healing is complete.

A static magnetic field generated by neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) magnets placed in the inner cavity of dental implants can enhance bone regeneration in rabbits.
