The objective of this study was to measure the different redox biomarker levels within the follicular fluid (FF) and evaluate correlations with embryo quality using the one follicle-one oocyte/embryo approach. The prospective study included 54 women (average age 34.6 ± 3.

Recent findings highlighted the potential of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) as novel indicators of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), as they demonstrate altered expression in metabolic disorders, oxidative stress (OS) and inflammation (IFM). The aim of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic potential and prognostic significance of the OS/IFM-related lncRNAs H19, and in GDM and their correlations with redox status-related parameters. The relative quantification of selected lncRNAs from peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of GDM patients and controls (n = 50 each) was performed by qPCR.

: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) may impact both maternal and fetal/neonatal health. The identification of prognostic indicators for GDM may improve risk assessment and selection of patient for intensive monitoring. The aim of this study was to find potential predictors of adverse pregnancy outcome in GDM and normoglycemic patients by comparing the levels of different biochemical parameters and the values of blood cell count (BCC) between GDM and normoglycemic patients and between patients with adverse and good outcome.

Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a risk factor for both mother and fetus/neonate during and after the pregnancy. Inconsistent protocols and cumbersome screening procedures warrant the search for new and easily accessible biomarkers. We investigated a potential of serum N-glycome to differentiate between healthy pregnant women (n = 49) and women with GDM (n = 53) using a lectin-based microarray and studied the correlation between the obtained data and parameters of glucose and lipid metabolism.

: Monitoring pregnancies with fetal growth restriction (FGR) presents a challenge, especially concerning the time of delivery in cases of early preterm pregnancies below 32 weeks. The aim of our study was to compare different diagnostic parameters in growth-restricted preterm neonates with and without morbidity/mortality and to determine sensitivity and specificity of diagnostic parameters for monitoring preterm pregnancies with early preterm fetal growth restriction below 32 weeks. : Our clinical study evaluated 120 cases of early preterm deliveries, with gestational age ≤ 32 + 0 weeks, with prenatally diagnosed placental FGR.

Background: Dysregulation of microRNA-based mechanisms is associated with various human pathologies, including gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), suggesting they may be potential diagnostic and/or prognostic biomarkers of GDM.
Methods: The expression of miR-340-5p, miR-27a-3p and miR-222-3p in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) obtained from patients with GDM (n = 42) and healthy controls (n = 34) were evaluated, together with their correlation to the clinical parameters of participants and their newborns. Expression of the selected microRNAs was quantified by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR), after reverse transcription with microRNA-specific stem-loop primers.

Febrile seizures (FS) are the most common neurological disease in childhood. The etiology of FS is the subject of numerous studies including studies regarding genetic predisposition. The aim of the study was to analyze the association of rs222747 and rs2297201 gene polymorphisms with the occurrence of FS.

Numerous evidence implies complex interrelations between polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and hypertension (HT) in reproductive-age women. In this study, we aimed to investigate the potential strain differences in ovarian morphology, hemodynamic, and biochemical characteristics in an androgen-induced PCOS rat model. A total of 24 rats of 3 weeks old (12 Wistar Kyoto - WK and 12 spontaneously hypertensive rats - SHR) were divided into four groups: WK, WK PCOS, SHR, and SHR PCOS.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a multifaced reproductive endocrinopathy affecting 6-20% of women of childbearing age. It was previously shown that women with PCOS have an increased risk of cardiovascular (CV) diseases. The aim of this study was to evaluate the cardiodynamic parameters of isolated rats' hearts, blood pressure levels, and histomorphological changes in the heart tissue following the androgen-induced PCOS model in rats and the role of oxidative stress in the development of these CV properties of PCOS.

Oxidative status of maternal blood represents an important parameter of pregnancy that is involved in both, regulation of physiological processes and (if significantly altered) development of different pregnancy complications. Inherited thrombophilias represent genetic disorders that increase the risk of thromboembolism in pregnancy. Little is known about the impact of thrombophilia on the oxidative status of maternal blood.

About 1% of ovarian tumors that comprise testicular cell types can cause hyperandrogenism followed by characteristic virilization. Androgenic group of tumors originated mainly from sex-cord stromal ovarian tumors are including steroid cell tumors, Leydig tumors, granulosa cell tumors, Sertoli cell tumors, Sertoli-Leydig cell tumors, gonadoblastomas, and some other rare forms as ovarian metastases from neuroendocrine tumors. Germline or somatic mutations in some genes like DICER1, STK11, and FOXL2 are associated with the development of some sex cord-stromal ovarian tumors.

Introduction: Temperature, glycemia and respiration make neonatal energy triangle (NET). In growth retardation (IUGR) neonates pathological metabolic adaptation exists in transient neonatal period.
Aim: The of this study was to examine the occurrence of pathological NET and check its impact on perinatal asphyxia during the transient period in IUGR neonates.

Objective: Objective of our study was to evaluate changes in Doppler resistance indices in the common hepatic artery during normal pregnancy.
Study Design: Cross-sectional study included 210 healthy pregnant women gestational age 6-40 weeks, 40 healthy non-pregnant women and 30 women after delivery. We divided all pregnant women by pregnancy trimester.

Objective: To determine if there is any difference in amniotic fluid erythropoietin (EPO) concentration between fetuses small for gestational age (SGA) and appropriate for gestational age (AGA), and between the constitutionally small (CSF) and growth-restricted (GRF) fetuses.
Methods: EPO concentrations in the amniotic fluid samples were determined by EpoELISA test in 38 pregnancies with SGA and 15 pregnancies with AGA fetuses. In the SGA group we measured Ponderal index (PI) and skin-fold thickness (SFT).

This paper describes a case of cancer of the uterine cervix metastasizing in the spleen two years after the primary carcinoma was diagnosed and treated. After detailed diagnostics, the patient was subjected to surgery. Histopathological examination after splenectomy confirmed a very rare case - presence of metastases of planocellular carcinoma of the uterine cervix.
