Recovery Colleges are mental health education centres co-produced by experts with lived experience with mental health problems and mental health professionals. The aim of the study was to evaluate the impact of a Recovery College in Switzerland on its students' mental health measured through personal recovery, well-being and self-stigmatisation in a mixed methods approach following the MMARS guideline. Three standardised questionnaires 'Questionnaire about the Process of Recovery', 'WHO-5 Well-Being Index' and 'Self-Stigma of Mental Illness Scale Short Form' were completed by 92 participants as part of a pre-post-evaluation while two focus groups (n = 10) provided further explanations regarding impacts on the three topics.

Background: Outcome measurement is essential to progress clinical practice and improve patient care.
Aim: To develop a Core Outcome Set for best care for the dying person.
Design: We followed the Core Outcome Measures in Effectiveness Trials (COMET) Initiative guidelines, which involved identifying potential outcomes via a systematic literature review (n = 619 papers) and from participants in the "iLIVE" project (10 countries: 101 patients, 37 family members, 63 clinicians), followed by a two-round Delphi study, and a consensus meeting.

Resistance to the effects of rocuronium and other neuromuscular blocking agents (NMBA) has been previously reported, including delayed onset of relaxation, rapid recovery and incomplete paralysis under recommended doses. These conditions have been associated with denervation injury, burns, immobilisation, infections, metabolic disorders, and drug interactions. In this report, we describe the case of a young male without any known pre-disposing factor for NMBA resistance, who failed to attain muscle relaxation with non-depolarising NMBA despite high doses of rocuronium and atracurium during two surgeries for colorectal cancer, several months apart.

To support the selection of suitable measures for specific applications and to evaluate possibilities of quantitative linking, the present study provides a content comparison of common fatigue measures, scales, and item banks. We included the EORTC CAT Core, EORTC QLQ-FA12, EORTC QLQ-C30, FACIT-F, PROMIS Fatigue (Cancer item bank v1.

This study explores neurochemical changes in the brain during hypnosis, targeting the parieto-occipital (PO) and posterior superior temporal gyrus (pSTG) regions using proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS). We examined 52 healthy, hypnosis experienced participants to investigate how two different hypnotic states of varying depth impacted brain neurochemistry in comparison to each other and to their respective non-hypnagogic control conditions. Alongside neurochemical assessments, we recorded respiration and heart rate variability (HRV) to further explore possible associations between physiological correlates of hypnotic depth.

Breast cancer (BC) is a leading cause of death worldwide, particularly also among African woman. In order to better stratify patients for the most effective (immuno-) therapy, an in depth characterization of the immune status of BC patients is required. In this study, a cohort of 65 Ethiopian patients with primary BC underwent immune profiling by multicolor flow cytometry on peripheral blood samples collected prior to surgery and to any other therapy.

The transcription factors STAT3, STAT5A, and STAT5B steer hematopoiesis and immunity, but their enhanced expression and activation promote acute myeloid leukemia (AML) or natural killer/T cell lymphoma (NKCL). Current therapeutic strategies focus on blocking upstream tyrosine kinases to inhibit STAT3/5, but these kinase blockers are not selective against STAT3/5 activation and frequent resistance causes relapse, emphasizing the need for targeted drugs. We evaluated the efficacy of JPX-0700 and JPX-0750 as dual STAT3/5 binding inhibitors promoting protein degradation.

This infection presents a broad clinical spectrum, ranging from asymptomatic colonization to severe fulminant colitis, which often requires urgent surgical intervention. The failure of medical treatments and the development of toxic megacolon typically necessitate surgery, though it is associated with high mortality rates.

Numerous studies have shown that dialysis may not be as beneficial to elderly, frail patients with chronic kidney failure and multiple comorbidities as comprehensive conservative therapy (CCT) and that dialysis may worsen the quality of life (QOL), increase hospitalization rates, and cause a significant decline in functional status. Several mortality predictors have been proposed to determine which patients would benefit more from CCT or dialysis. We estimated the short-term risk of death in an 81-year-old male patient with kidney failure and highly severe frailty using the REIN score, a dependable risk prediction model proposed by the European Renal Best Practice Group for the prediction of short-term risk mortality.

Aim: This consecutive retrospective study compared Mini-implant Assisted Slow Palatal Expansion (MASPE) with rapid palatal expansion (MARPE) using a bone-borne skeletal expander in adults with a narrow maxilla. CBCT scans analyzed transverse changes and potential pterygoid process deformation before (T1) and after expansion (T2).
Materials And Methods: The Force Controlled PolyCyclic (FCPC) SLOW palatal expansion group (FCPC-MASPE-G) comprised 35 adults aged 18-54 years and received a skeletal expander limiting expansive force only allowing 500 cN at the activation wrench (force control).

Background: Previous studies have shown that microbial communities differ in obese and lean individuals, and dietary fiber can help reduce obesity-related conditions through diet-gut microbiota interactions. However, the mechanisms by which dietary fibers shape the gut microbiota still need to be elucidated. In this in vitro study, we examined how apple fibers affect lean and obese microbial communities on a global scale.

The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in a persistent health challenge known as Post-COVID Condition (PCC), characterized by symptoms lasting at least three months after the initial SARS-CoV-2 infection and potentially persisting for several years. While studies on PCC using lipidomics and proteomics have been conducted, these methods are costly and time-consuming. The comprehensive analysis of UV-VIS-NIR-MIR spectroscopy is explored here as an alternative for the rapid and cheap diagnosis and quantification of the severity of PCC.

Background: Lifestyle in Western countries has significantly changed during recent decades. These and other factors have increased the prevalence of overweight and obesity, leading to a higher risk of noncommunicable diseases such as cardiovascular disease and cancer. A balanced diet has been shown to predict better health, so several public healthcare strategies aim to encourage "healthy" food choices.

Background: Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) over the supplementary motor area (SMA) has shown promise in Tourette syndrome (TS), but previous studies were limited in size and stimulation duration.
Objective: The aim was to explore the efficacy and safety of multiple sessions of cathodal tDCS over the bilateral SMA on tic severity in TS.
Methods: A double-blind, randomized, sham-controlled trial 1 mA cathodal tDCS over bilateral SMA was performed in participants with TS older than 16 years.
