Introduction: We report the case of a 54-year-old male with the rare entity of bilateral septic acromioclavicular (AC) arthritis with osteomyelitis of the lateral clavicle with methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA). The glenohumeral joint was affected as well. The patient was immunocompetent with no history of diabetes or intravenous drug abuse.

Purpose: Lack of a control group(s) and selection bias were the main criticisms of previous studies investigating the prevalence of post-coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) syndrome (PCS). There are insufficient data regarding paediatric PCS, particularly in the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron era. As such, our study investigated PCS-associated symptoms in a representative control-matched cohort.

Background: Patients with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma (ARMS) with regional lymph node involvement (N1) are defined as "very-high-risk rhabdomyosarcoma" in Europe. Different chemotherapy regimens were used in European study protocols.
Methods: Patients with FOXO1 fusion-positive N1 ARMS registered in the CWS-2002P study, the EpSSG RMS 2005 study, and SoTiSaR were retrospectively investigated.

Background: Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is linked to human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. HPV-positive and HPV-negative HNSCC exhibit distinct molecular and clinical characteristics. Although checkpoint inhibitors have shown efficiency in recurrent/metastatic HNSCC, response variability persists regardless of HPV status.

Introduction: Pharmacogenomics (PGx) investigates how genomes control enzyme expression. Developmental pharmacology (DP) describes the temporal sequence of enzymes impacting absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME) of food and drugs.
Areas Covered: US and European Union (EU) legislation facilitate and/or enforce pediatric studies for all new drugs, called overall 'pediatric drug development' (PDD).

Background: Narcolepsy is a rare neurological disease caused by dysfunction of hypocretin-producing neurons. Hypocretin concentrations in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of less than 110 pg/ml are considered pathological in adults.
Objectives: To compare hypocretin levels of children with narcolepsy type 1, type 2 and disease control groups, in addition to a detailed CSF analysis, clinical and polysomnographic parameters.

Background: The ubiquitously expressed Guanine nucleotide exchange factor, RAPGEF1 (C3G), is essential for early development of mouse embryos. It functions to regulate gene expression and cytoskeletal reorganization, thereby controlling cell proliferation and differentiation. While multiple transcripts have been predicted, their expression in mouse tissues has not been investigated in detail.

Background: Respiratory distress syndrome is a leading cause of neonatal intensive care unit admissions for late preterm (34-36 weeks gestational age) and term infants (37-41 weeks). The risk for respiratory morbidity appears to increase after an elective caesarean delivery and might be reduced after antenatal corticosteroids. However, before considering antenatal corticosteroids for women at high risk of preterm birth after 34 weeks, the incidence of respiratory distress syndrome and the effect of delivery mode on this incidence requires further evaluation.

Key Points: Inconsistent responses to the prior approval process for similar patients may lead to inequities in access to optimal care. The prior authorizations process leads to frustration among nephrologists and may contribute to moral distress. The prior authorizations process may lead to important delays in kidney care.

The etiology of pediatric acute lymphatic leukemia (ALL) is still unclear. Whole-metagenome shotgun sequencing of bone marrow samples in patients with treatment-naïve ALL (n=6) was performed for untargeted investigation of bacterial and viral DNA. The control group consisted of healthy children (n=4) and children with non-oncologic diseases (n=2) undergoing bone marrow sampling.

TIGIT is an alternative checkpoint receptor (CR) whose inhibition promotes Graft-versus-Leukemia effects of NK cells. Given the significant immune-permissiveness of NK cells circulating in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients, we asked whether adoptive transfer of activated NK cells would benefit from additional TIGIT-blockade. Hence, we characterized cytokine-induced memory-like (CIML)-NK cells and NK cell lines for the expression of inhibitory CRs.

GCTs are developmental tumors and are likely to reflect ontogenetic and teratogenetic determinants. The objective of this study was to identify syndromes with or without congenital anomalies and non-syndromic defects as potential risk factors. Patients with extracranial GCTs (eGCTs) registered in MAKEI 96/MAHO 98 between 1996 and 2017 were included.

REHem-AR was created in 2013. The progressive implementation of neonatal screening for haemoglobinopathies in Spanish autonomous communities where the registry had not been implemented, as well as the addition of new centres during this period, has considerably increased the sample of patients covered. In this study, we update our previous publication in this area, after a follow-up of more than 5 years.

Objective: To investigate the psychosocial burden in children and adolescents with juvenile rheumatic diseases during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Methods: As part of the multicentre observational KICK-COVID study linked to the National Pediatric Rheumatology Database, adolescents < 21 years and parents of children < 12 years with rheumatic diseases answered questions on perceptions of health risk (PHR) due to SARS-CoV2, stress, well-being (WHO-5) and symptoms of depression (PHQ-9) and anxiety (GAD-7). Data were collected at routine visits from June to December 2021 and assessed for association with demographic and clinical parameters, treatment and patient-reported outcomes by multivariable regression analyses.

The Kabi International Growth Study (KIGS) was first established in 1987 and is the largest pharmaco-epidemiological study of recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH). KIGS is aimed at evaluating long-term safety and treatment outcomes in pediatric subjects who received Genotropin rhGH therapy (Pfizer, New York, NY, USA) as prescribed by physicians in real-world clinical practice settings. KIGS data have been used to answer multiple research questions related to growth, growth prediction, and growth hormone treatment, leading to the publication of 129 peer-reviewed manuscripts and 24 biannual reports, outcomes from 10 expert meetings, and 3 books.

Introduction: Patients with above-knee amputations (AKA) are normally treated with the traditional socket-mounted prosthesis (SMP), which is associated with a high incidence of problems. Osseointegration has been proposed as a promising option for avoiding many common SMP drawbacks. Several concerns have arisen regarding amputee osseointegration, however, mainly with respect to infection.
