The European Union's Workers' Directive 2013/35/EU on the minimum health and safety requirements regarding the exposure of workers to electromagnetic fields specifies action levels (ALs) for external electric and magnetic fields, which should protect against induced tissue-internal electric field strengthabove the exposure limit values, the latter being defined in order to prevent tissue stimulation at low frequencies. However, although 2013/35/EU explicitly calls for the protection of 'workers at particular risk' (including workers with metallic implants), the AL specified in the Directive have been derived under the assumption that there are no metallic parts present inside the body. Therefore, in the present work, we analysed the situation of a worker's hand and forearm bearing metallic implants (Herbert screw and volar radius plate) used for osteosynthesis after the most common bone fractures of the hand/forearm, exposed to low frequency magnetic fields.

Objectives: The revised European Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology (ESSR) consensus guidelines on soft tissue tumor imaging represent an update of 2015 after technical advancements, further insights into specific entities, and revised World Health Organization (2020) and AJCC (2017) classifications. This second of three papers covers algorithms once histology is confirmed: (1) standardized whole-body staging, (2) special algorithms for non-malignant entities, and (3) multiplicity, genetic tumor syndromes, and pitfalls.
Materials And Methods: A validated Delphi method based on peer-reviewed literature was used to derive consensus among a panel of 46 specialized musculoskeletal radiologists from 12 European countries.

Introduction: Research on leader-member exchange (LMX) has shown that the relation between leaders and followers may be considered from different angles. Leaders may form individual relationships with followers (LMX quality), may agree with their followers on these relationships (LMX agreement), and may form different relationships within their work group (LMX variability). We posit that leaders' mental health may function as an antecedent for these different forms of LMX.

Despite recent advances in immunophenotyping, the prognosis of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is still mainly estimated using age and genetic markers. As the genetic heterogeneity of AML patients is high, flow cytometry-based classification with appropriate biomarkers can efficiently complement risk stratification and treatment selection. An increased expression of B7-H3 (CD276), an immune checkpoint protein, has been reported and associated with poor prognosis.

Before revascularization, moyamoya patients require hemodynamic evaluation. In this study, we evaluated the scoring system , (PIRAMID). We also devised a new scoring system, (MARS-MMA), and compared the scoring systems with respect to the capability to predict impaired [O]water PET cerebral perfusion reserve capacity (CPR).

Background: Aortic stenosis (AS) is driven by progressive inflammatory and fibrocalcific processes regulated by circulating inflammatory and valve resident endothelial and interstitial cells. The impact of platelets, platelet-derived mediators, and platelet-monocyte interactions on the acceleration of local valvular inflammation and mineralization is presently unknown.
Methods: We prospectively enrolled 475 consecutive patients with severe symptomatic AS undergoing aortic valve replacement.

The etiology of pediatric acute lymphatic leukemia (ALL) is still unclear. Whole-metagenome shotgun sequencing of bone marrow samples in patients with treatment-naïve ALL (n=6) was performed for untargeted investigation of bacterial and viral DNA. The control group consisted of healthy children (n=4) and children with non-oncologic diseases (n=2) undergoing bone marrow sampling.

Objectives: Cryopyrin-Associated Periodic Syndromes (CAPS) encompasses a spectrum of Interleukin-1 (IL-1) driven systemic diseases with dramatic individual and societal burden. The study aimed to identify parameters and instruments to refine real-life Treat-to-Target (T2T) strategies and control CAPS disease activity.
Methods: A single-centre, longitudinal study of consecutive children and adults diagnosed with CAPS and treated with anti-IL-1 therapy was performed.

Background: Our investigation aimed to determine how the diverse backgrounds and medical specialties of emergency physicians (Eps) influence the accuracy of diagnoses and the subsequent treatment pathways for patients presenting preclinically with MI symptoms. By scrutinizing the relationships between EPs' specialties and their approaches to patient care, we aimed to unveil potential variances in diagnostic accuracy and treatment choices.
Methods: In this retrospective, monocenter cohort study, we leveraged machine learning techniques to analyze a comprehensive dataset of 2328 patients with suspected MI, encompassing preclinical diagnoses, electrocardiogram (ECG) interpretations, and subsequent treatment strategies by attending EPs.

Objectives: Bacteroides fragilis is the most frequent cause of anaerobic bacteraemia. Although recent data suggest a rise in antimicrobial resistance (AMR) of this and other anaerobic bacteria, surveillance remains limited due to a lack of both data availability and comparability. However, a newly introduced standardised method for antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) of anaerobic bacteria has made larger scale surveillance possible for the first time.

Aneurysms pose life-threatening risks due to the dilatation of the arteries and carry a high risk of rupture. Despite continuous research efforts, there are still no satisfactory or clinically effective pharmaceutical treatments for this condition. Accelerated inflammatory processes during aneurysm development lead to increased levels of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and destabilization of the vessel wall through the degradation of the structural components of the extracellular matrix (ECM), mainly collagen and elastin.
