The Ataxia-telangiectasia mutated (ATM) is the most important gene for repairing the DNA in Myelodysplastic Neoplasm.

Myelodysplastic Neoplasm (MDS) is a cancer associated with aging, often leading to acute myeloid leukemia (AML). One of its hallmarks is hypermethylation, particularly in genes responsible for DNA repair. This study aimed to evaluate the methylation and mutation status of DNA repair genes (single-strand - XPA, XPC, XPG, CSA, CSB and double-strand - ATM, BRCA1, BRCA2, LIG4, RAD51) in MDS across three patient cohorts (Cohort A-56, Cohort B-100, Cohort C-76), using methods like pyrosequencing, real-time PCR, immunohistochemistry, and mutation screening.

However, the photophysiological response to increasing temperature of ecologically relevant species, such as Laminaria digitata, might depend on the local thermal environment where the population has developed. Therefore, the effects of temperature on growth rate, biochemical composition, maximum quantum yield, photosynthetic quotient and carbon budget of young cultured sporophytes of Laminaria digitata from the Arctic at Spitsbergen (SPT; cultured at 4, 10 and 16 °C) and from the cold-temperate North Sea island of Helgoland (HLG; cultured at 10, 16 and 22 °C) were comparatively analyzed.

We argue that "processes versus objects" is not a useful dichotomy. There is, instead, substantial theoretical utility in viewing "objects" and "processes" as complementary ways of describing persistence through time, and hence the possibility of observation and manipulation. This way of thinking highlights the role of memory as an essential resource for observation, and makes it clear that "memory" and "time" are also mutually inter-defined, complementary concepts.

Preparation of a 6FDA-DAM/ODA Mixed Matrix Membrane Doped with MOFs and Its Application in Gas Separation.

Mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) can significantly improve gas separation performance, but the type and state of the filler in the membrane matrix are key indicators for the development of MMMs. Therefore, in this work, 6FDA-DAM/ODA (1:1), metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with different particle sizes (UiO-66 and UiO-66-NH) were synthesized, and then MOFs were doped into 6FDA-DAM/ODA to prepare MMMs. The effects of the dopant materials and their particle sizes on the gas separation performance of the membranes were investigated by testing the permeability of the MMMs to H, CO, CH, and N.

Methods: We used data from the UK Biobank, a longitudinal population-based cohort study, to analyze the impact of mobile phone use duration, weekly usage time, and playing computer games on the future brain structure and the future risk of various neurodegenerative diseases, including all-cause dementia (ACD), Alzheimer disease (AD), vascular dementia (VD), all-cause parkinsonism (ACP), and Parkinson disease (PD).

Dementia clinical trials often fail to include diverse and historically minoritized groups. We sought to adapt the Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias-Palliative Care (ADRD-PC) clinical trial to improve enrollment and address the cultural needs of people with late-stage ADRD who identify as Hispanic or Latino and their family caregivers. Bilingual, bicultural research team members adapted study materials and processes using the Cultural Adaptation Process Model.

Regulating the Thermodynamic Uniformity and Kinetic Diffusion of Zinc Anodes for Deep Cycling of Ah-Level Aqueous Zinc-Metal Batteries.

Zn metal anodes in mildly acidic electrolytes usually suffer from a series of problems, including parasitic dendrite growth and severe side reactions, significantly limiting the Zn utilization efficiency and cycling life. A deep understanding of the Zn stripping/plating process is essential to obtain high-efficiency and long-life Zn metal anodes. Here, the factors affecting the Zn stripping/plating process are revealed, suggesting that thermodynamic uniformity in bulk structures promotes an orderly Zn stripping process, and a fast kinetic diffusion rate on the Zn surface facilitates uniform Zn deposition.
