Endothelial necroptosis plays a crucial role in regulating cancer metastasis. Our previous research demonstrated that TC14012, which is an agonist of CXCR7, exhibits protective effects against endothelial injury. This study was designed to elucidate the effects of TC14012 on endothelial necroptosis and cancer lung metastasis, along with deciphering the underlying molecular mechanisms.

To explore serum metabolic changes in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) with mild or moderate steatosis and develop a diagnostic index based on liver fat content to differentiate these stages. A total of 149 participants were enrolled from the Nutrition Health Atlas Project in 2019 (Stage 1, n = 92) and 2022 (Stage 2, n = 57). Serum levels of amino acids, free fatty acids (FFAs) and other organic acids were quantified using liquid or gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.

Background: Patients with breast cancer (BC) who benefit from the PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitor (PDi) is limited, necessitating novel strategies to improve immunotherapy efficacy of BC. Here we aimed to investigate the inhibitory effects of flaxseed lignans (FL) on the biological behaviors of BC and evaluate the roles of FL in enhancing the anticancer effects of PDi.
Methods: HPLC was used to detect the content of enterolactone (ENL), the bacterial transformation product of FL.

Hypoxia induces immunosuppressive phenotypes in tumor cells even in the presence of cytosolic DNA accumulation. The mechanisms by which tumor cells suppress hypoxia-induced cGAS-STING activation for immune evasion remain largely unclear. Here, we demonstrate that hypoxic stimulation induces JNK1/2-mediated S151 phosphorylation of phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase 1 (PCK1), a rate-limiting enzyme in gluconeogenesis.

Background: Central venous catheters (CVCs) are widely used in critically ill patients, including cancer patients, but are associated with complications such as catheter-related bloodstream infections (CRBSIs). This study evaluates the effectiveness of polyhexamethylene biguanide (PHMB)-coated CVCs in reducing catheter-tip bacterial colonization in cancer patients undergoing abdominal surgery.
Methods: A prospective, randomized, monocentric clinical trial was conducted at Peking University Cancer Hospital from March 2017 to April 2019.

Background: Perioperative chemotherapy combined with D2 radical gastrectomy has been proven to be the standard treatment for local advanced gastric cancer. However, tumor regression grading (TRG) is the only neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) response evaluation criterion recommended by the NCCN guideline for gastric cancer (GC). Given TRG's limitations, we aim to explore a better comprehensive response evaluation method in this study.

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most prevalent malignant tumors, often diagnosed at an advanced stage with limited treatment options and a poor prognosis. The present study aimed to identify the risk factors (RFs) for HCC and develop a nomogram incorporating dominant HBX mutations to predict the risk of HCC occurrence in high-risk (HR) populations.
Methods: We collected early HCC screening and monitoring factors from cohorts of HCC patients and HR populations, including gender, age, AFP, ALT, as well as hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection and mutation indicators such as hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), HBV DNA replication level, HBV genotype, and high-frequency mutations in HBX.

Flow cytometry (FCM), characterized by its simplicity, rapid processing, multiparameter analysis, and high sensitivity, is widely used in the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of hematological malignancies. FCM testing of tissue samples not only aids in diagnosing and classifying hematological cancers, but also enables the detection of solid tumors. Its ability to detect numerous marker parameters from small samples is particularly useful when dealing with limited cell quantities, such as in fine-needle biopsy samples.

Colorectal carcinoma (CRC) is a deadly cancer with an aggressive nature, and how CRC tumor cells manage to translocate and proliferate in a new tissue environment remains not fully understood. Recently, higher-order chromatin structures and spatial genome organization are increasingly implicated in diseases including cancer, but in-depth studies of three-dimensional genome (3D genome) of metastatic cancer are currently lacking, preventing the understanding of the roles of genome organization during metastasis. Here we perform multi-omics profiling of matched normal colon, primary tumor, lymph node metastasis, liver metastasis and normal liver tissue from CRC patients using Hi-C, ATAC-seq and RNA-seq technologies.

The advent of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) has revolutionized the treatment landscape for extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC) patients. However, many patients eventually develop resistance to immunotherapy. While continued ICI therapy beyond disease progression has shown survival benefits in various cancers, research specific to ES-SCLC remains limited.

Purpose: We aimed to determine whether patients with cytologically proven node-positive disease who achieved axillary pathologic complete response (ypN0) after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) have similar survival outcomes to those with initially pathologically negative lymph nodes (pN0).
Methods: Patients with cytologically proven node-positive breast cancer who achieved ypN0 after NAC and those with pN0 between June 2005 and March 2012 in a large cancer hospital were reviewed. The relapse-free survival (RFS), distant-disease-free survival (DDFS) and overall survival (OS) of the 2 groups were calculated and compared.

Background: Our study aimed to develop a machine learning (ML) model utilizing grayscale ultrasound (US) to distinguish ≤3 cm small hepatocellular carcinoma (sHCC) from non-HCC lesions.
Methods: A total of 1052 patients with 1058 liver lesions ≤3 cm from 55 hospitals were collected between May 2017 and June 2021, and 756 liver lesions were randomly allocated into train and internal validation cohorts at a 8:2 ratio for the development and evaluation of ML models based on multilayer perceptron (MLP) and extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) methods (Model utilizing US imaging features; Model adding US radiomics features; Model employing clinical features further). The diagnostic performance of three models was assessed in external validation cohort (312 liver lesions from 14 hospitals).

Aptamers have attracted exceptional attention in medical field due to their intrinsic properties equivalent to antibodies such as high target affinity, low immunogenicity and toxicity, cost-effectiveness and ease of synthesis and modification, and good stability under extreme conditions, thereby providing new avenues for basic research and clinical application. Protein tyrosine kinase 7 (PTK7) has been proved to be closely linked with the progression of many types of cancer. The aberrant expression of PTK7 has positioned it as a potential theranostic biomarker for multiple cancers.
