Older Adults with Bipolar Disorder (OABD) represent a heterogeneous group, including those with early and late onset of the disorder. Recent evidence shows both groups have distinct clinical, cognitive, and medical features, tied to different neurobiological profiles. This study explored the link between polygenic risk scores (PRS) for bipolar disorder (PRS-BD), schizophrenia (PRS-SCZ), and major depressive disorder (PRS-MDD) with age of onset in OABD.

Infection with one or several of the five known hepatitis viruses is a leading cause of liver disease and poses a high risk of developing hepatocellular carcinoma upon chronic infection. Chronicity is primarily caused by hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) and poses a significant health burden worldwide. Co-infection of chronic HBV infected patients with hepatitis D virus (HDV) is less common but is marked as the most severe form of chronic viral hepatitis.

The commercialisation of PEM water electrolysis is still hindered by the necessity of using noble metals that are rare, expensive and therefore unsustainable. To replace the benchmark HER catalyst Pt with more abundant materials, promising non-noble catalysts need to be identified and optimal electrode preparation and electrolysis conditions need to be transferred between catalyst materials to reveal their full potential under industrially relevant conditions. This study investigates the optimal ink composition for spray-coating the cathode regarding the effects on electrode structure, performance and catalyst layer composition.

We present a novel resonance mode in capacitive radio frequency (rf) discharges in the presence of an oblique magnetic field at low pressures. We observe the self-excitation of high-frequency harmonics of the current in magnetized capacitive rf discharges through the magnetized plasma series resonance (MPSR) induced by applying a low-frequency power. Utilizing an equivalent circuit model, we reveal that these harmonics arise from the hybrid combination of the magnetic gyration of electrons and the PSR.

We propose a hybrid electrocatalytic-bioelectrocatalytic reaction cascade integrated on a gas diffusion electrode for CO reduction under selective formation of methanol. Ag-BiO selectively reduces gaseous CO to formate at neutral pH conditions. A subsequent enzymatic cascade comprising formaldehyde dehydrogenase and alcohol dehydrogenase, which are both nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD)-dependent, further reduce formate sequentially to formaldehyde and methanol.

The direct CO reduction reaction (CORR) from simulated flue gas of various CO concentrations could minimize extra energy for pre-concentration processes to highly concentrated CO as a feedstock. We investigate the challenges for CORR caused by low CO concentrations and provide strategies concerning the impact of the chosen electrocatalyst material and the selection of the electrolyte to attain high CO selectivity. We continuously feed CO mixed with N (the typical dilutant in flue gas) in various ratios to gas diffusion electrodes in a model flow-through electrolyzer.

When using navigation devices the "cognitive map" created in the user's mind is much more fragmented, incomplete and inaccurate, compared to the mental model of space created when reading a conventional printed map. As users become more dependent on digital devices that reduce orientation skills, there is an urgent need to develop more efficient navigation systems that promote orientation skills. This paper proposes to consider brain processes for creating more efficient maps that use a network of optimally located cardinal lines and landmarks organized to support and stabilize the neurocognitive structures in the brain that promote spatial orientation.

Aim: During the COVID-19 pandemic, social restrictions significantly impacted post-graduate training in pediatric surgery. This paper describes the implementation and continuation of a German-language, online training program for pediatric surgery residents, named "KiWI" (Kinderchirurgische Weiterbildung im Internet), which was established during the period of social distancing.
Method: "KiWI" was designed as a monthly, post-graduate online seminar course that combined practical relevance with theoretical knowledge.
The vulva is a periorificial skin area and as such represents a transitional zone with unique functional and physiological characteristics. Knowledge of its anatomy is limited among both the general population and healthcare professionals, and unrealistic expectations of normal proportions are common. Ignorance of anatomical variations can cause unnecessary anxiety.

Anticipating intramolecular excited-state proton-coupled electron transfer (PCET) process within dinuclear Ir-photocatalytic system via the covalent linkage is seminal, yet challenging. Indeed, the development of various dinuclear complexes is also promising for studying integral photophysics and facilitating applications in catalysis or biology. Herein, this study reports dinuclear [Ir(bis{imidazo-phenanthrolin-2-yl}-hydroquinone)(ppy)] (1) complex by leveraging both ligand-centered redox property and intramolecular H-bonding for exploring dual excited-state proton-transfer assisted PCET process.

Objective: Splenectomy is regularly performed in total and distal pancreatectomy due to technical reasons, lymph node dissection and radicality of the operation. However, the spleen serves as an important organ for competent immune function, and its removal is associated with an increased incidence of cancer and a worse outcome in some cancer entities (Haematologica 99:392-398, 2014; Dis Colon Rectum 51:213-217, 2008; Dis Esophagus 21:334-339, 2008). The impact of splenectomy in pancreatic cancer is not fully resolved (J Am Coll Surg 188:516-521, 1999; J Surg Oncol 119:784-793, 2019).

Introduction: Distal junctional kyphosis (DJK) and distal junctional failure (DJF) are known complications of adult multilevel spinal fusion surgery. Previous literature has extensively investigated proximal junctional kyphosis (PJK) and proximal junctional failure (PJF), but DJK and DJF are relatively under-studied. This study investigates the association between bone mineral density (BMD) and DJK/DJF via a Systematic Review (SR) and Meta-Analysis (MA).

Background: Propensity score matching has become a popular method for estimating causal treatment effects in non-randomized studies. However, for time-to-event outcomes, the estimation of hazard ratios based on propensity scores can be challenging if omitted or unobserved covariates are present. Not accounting for such covariates could lead to treatment estimates, differing from the estimate of interest.

Incentive salience theory both explains the directional component of motivation (in terms of cue attraction or "wanting") and its energetic component, as a function of the strength of cue attraction. This theory characterizes cue- and reward-triggered approach behavior. But it does not tell us how behavior can show enhanced vigor under reward uncertainty, when cues are inconsistent or resources hidden.

Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are an important therapeutic pillar in metastatic urothelial carcinoma (mUC). The occurrence of immune-related adverse events (irAEs) appears to be associated with improved outcomes in observational studies. However, these associations are likely affected by immortal time bias and do not represent causal effects.
