ACE2 is a mono-carboxypeptidase with remarkable vasculo-protective properties, and its expression in the human placenta plays a central role in blood pressure homeostasis and fetal perfusion. Therefore, an alteration in the placental expression of ACE2 could be responsible for reduced placental perfusion and infantile hemangioma (IH) development. Study placentae were collected from patients affected by IHs who were referred to our Dermatology Clinic from 2016 to 2022, while control placentae were randomly collected while matching cases for gestational age.

Molecular hybridization between structural fragments from the structures of curcumin (1) and resveratrol (2) was used as a designing tool to generate a new N-acyl-cinnamoyl-hydrazone hybrid molecular architecture. Twenty-eight new compounds were synthesized and evaluated for multifunctional activities related to Parkinson's disease (PD), including neuroprotection, antioxidant, metal chelating ability, and Keap1/Nrf2 pathway activation. Compounds 3b (PQM-161) and 3e (PQM-164) were highlighted for their significant antioxidant profile, acting directly as induced free radical stabilizers by DPPH and indirectly by modulating intracellular inhibition of t-BOOH-induced ROS formation in neuronal cells.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is a common condition with heterogeneous outcomes difficult to predict at the individual level. Feared complications of advanced MASLD are linked to clinically significant portal hypertension and are initiated by functional and mechanical changes in the unique sinusoidal capillary network of the liver. Early sinusoidal vasoregulatory changes in MASLD lead to increased intrahepatic vascular resistance and represent the beginning of portal hypertension.

Background And Objective: Several randomized controlled trials (RCTs) have shown that benralizumab is characterized by a good profile of efficacy and safety, thereby being potentially able to elicit clinical remission on-treatment of severe eosinophilic asthma (SEA). The main goal of this multicentre observational study was to verify the effectiveness of benralizumab in inducing a sustained remission on-treatment of SEA in patients with or without comorbid chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP).

Methods: Throughout 2 years of treatment with benralizumab, a four-component evaluation of sustained remission of SEA was performed, including the assessment of SEA exacerbations, use of oral corticosteroids (OCSs), symptom control and lung function.

Treatment options for secondary progressive MS (SPMS) are limited, especially considering that the new drugs recently approved are licensed for actively relapsing patients. We aimed to compare the disability progression in a real-world cohort of SPMS patients treated with natalizumab (NTZ) or interferon beta-1b (IFNb-1b). This multicenter retrospective enrolled patients with a diagnosis of SPMS according to 2014 Lublin criteria, who received NTZ or IFNb-1b for at least 48 months between the 1st June 2012 and the 15th May 2018 ​at 33 Italian MS centers contributing to the Italian MS Registry NTZ or IFNb-1b.
