A rapidly growing number of chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) is being translated into cell therapy for malignant and autoimmune diseases. While cancer cell-selective CAR targeting is undergoing continuous refinement, specific testing for overlooked recognition of healthy tissues is commonly not performed, which potentially results in underestimating of the risk of severe tissue damage upon CAR T cell application. Using the FcμR/IgM receptor/FAIM3/TOSO-specific CAR, designed to target chronic lymphocytic leukemia cells, we exemplarily outline a screen to uncover reactivities to healthy tissues and discuss the value of such pre-clinical testing to improve safety in CAR T cell application.

Functional regeneration of the lung's gas exchange surface following injury requires the coordination of a complex series of cell behaviors within the alveolar niche. Using single-cell transcriptomics combined with lineage tracing of proliferating progenitors, we examined mouse lung regeneration after influenza injury, demonstrating an asynchronously phased response across different cellular compartments. This longitudinal atlas of injury responses has produced a catalog of transient and persistent transcriptional alterations in cells as they transit across axes of differentiation.

In the second half of the twentieth century the development of immunoassay technologies provided a rapid and sensitive method to quantify circulating concentrations of reproductive hormones and relate them to stage of the estrous cycle and physiological status of the animal. Industrial, agricultural, and natural pollution pose a critical problem for the Prairie provinces of Canada, with significant environmental and health concerns. This study addresses a critical knowledge gap by assessing the cumulative impacts of pollutants in the Prairie region, which hosts 40 % of the Canada's indigenous population, often living near these pollution sources. By innovatively integrating Sentinel-5P satellite data, Google Earth Engine, ArcGIS, and Python, we show the trends in CO, NO₂, HCHO, SO₂, and aerosols from 2019 to 2023 at high resolution for the entire region, which sheds new light on the dynamics that operate beyond conventional air quality monitoring.
