Stress responses can impact bladder cancer (BC) outcomes via immune-inflammatory pathway modulation. This study explores heart rate variability (HRV) associations with serum immune-inflammatory biomarkers, blood count inflammatory markers, and psychosocial self-report measures in patients versus healthy controls. The TREM-1 and TREM-2 expressions on peripheral blood monocytes were analysed via flow cytometry; serum inflammatory biomarkers by ELISA; HRV (5-min ECG) pre-tumour resection; blood counts by haematology analyser; and psychosocial factors by validated questionnaires.

Purpose: The study purpose was to evaluate the clinical and ultrasound characteristics of women with urinary stress incontinence (USI) with or without genital prolapse (GP).

Materials And Methods: A total of 268 patients who underwent ultrasound perineal evaluation were divided into two groups: isolated USI (n=132) and USIGP (n=136) with USI/GP stage I/II. The latter group was additionally divided into two subgroups: USIGP(A) (n=78) with USI/GP stage I and USIGP(B) (n=58) with USI/GP stage II.

Klin Onkol

February 2012

Department for Urogynaecology and Pelvic Floor Disorders, University Clinic for Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Medical Faculty, University Saint Cyril and Methodius, Skopje, Republic of Macedonia.

Backgrounds: Assessment of predictive values for CA-125, ultrasound features (US) and risk of malignancy index (RMI) in ovarian malignancy.

Material And Methods: 115 patients, divided into: 1) group-A (n = 41)--ovarian malignancy; group-B (n = 74)--benign ovarian tumor; 2) subgroup-CA(a) with low CA-125 (< 35 U/mL) (n = 64); subgroup-CA(b) with slightly elevated CA-125 (35-130 U/ml) (n = 26); subgroup-CA(c) with high CA-125 (> 130 U/ml) (n = 25).

Results: 1) patients of group-A were older (p < 0.

A new modification of the POPQ system--its effectiveness in the diagnosis of supravaginal elongation of the uterine cervix in cases with genital prolapse.

Bratisl Lek Listy

October 2008

Department for Urogynaecology and Pelvic Floor Disorders, University Clinic for Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Medical Faculty University Saint Cyril and Methodius, Skopje, Republic of Macedonia.

Background: The evaluation of a genital prolapse has to include the POPQ-pelvic organ position quantification as a descriptive system.

Objectives: Effectiveness of our modification of the POPQ in the diagnosis of supravaginal cervical elongation.

Methods: We evaluated our modification: Bal (midpoint of distance Aa/Va); Vas (most proximal point of anterior vaginal wall); Va (attachment of anterior vaginal wall to cervix); Vp (attachment of posterior vaginal wall to cervix); Vps (most proximal point of posterior vaginal wall); SU (attachment of sacrouterine ligaments to cervix); Bp1 (midpoint of distance Ap/Vp); as well as some level distances: (Vas-Va), (Vp-SU), (Vps-Vp), (Aa-Ba1) in 358 patients, divided into: group A-stage I/II prolapse; group B-stage I/II prolapse and cervical elongation; group C-stage III/IV prolapse; group D-stage III/IV prolapse and cervical elongation; group E-stage 0 prolapse and stress incontinence during Valsalva maneuver (Vm) and Pozzy maneuver (Pm).

Prooxidative/antioxidative homeostasis in heroin addiction and detoxification.

Bratisl Lek Listy

April 2008

Clinic of Toxicology and Urgent Internal Medicine, Medical Faculty, University Saint Cyril and Methodius-Skopje, Macedonia.

Background: Long-term heroin abuse is related to pathological changes in many organs mediated by oxidative stress (OS).

Objectives: Estimation of systemic OS and antioxidant capacity in heroin addiction and detoxification provides information about prooxidant/antioxidant homeostasis in heroin misuse and need for antioxidant supplementation.

Methods: OS was evaluated by the measurement of plasma reactive oxygen metabolites using spectrophotometric method and plasma lipid peroxidation by its end product--malondyaldehyd using Tiobarbituric Acid Reactions Substances method.

Bratisl Lek Listy

August 2006

Department for Urogynaecology and Pelvic Floor Disorders, University Clinic for Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Medical Faculty, University "Saint Cyril and Methodius", Skopje, Republic of Macedonia.

Objectives: The effect of a new modification of the Mc Call operation, vaginosacral colpopexy (VSC) was evaluated in the group of 32 patients.

Background: Due to our bad experience with transabdominal lumbosacral colpopexy, we tried to find out another solution.

Methods: VSC using the mobilized vaginosacral ligaments as sliding grafts (two sutures through the vaginosacral ligaments and posterior vaginal wall and the third suture through the uterosacral ligaments) for vault prolapse was performed in the group of 32 patients.

In the search for new proteinase inhibitors we have focused on the screening and Computer Assisted Drug Design (CADD) studies of polyphenolic compounds. In this paper we report CADD of flavonoles and flavones as trypsin inhibitors concomitant by the screening results. 5,7-Dihydroxy flavonoid have been found to be a perspective trypsin/trypsin-like-enzyme inhibitor.
