According to histopathology and molecular genetics, there are 5 major subtypes of ovarian carcinomas: high-grade serous (70%), endometrioid (10%), clear cell (10%), mucinous (3% to 4%), and low-grade serous (<5%) carcinomas. These tumors, which constitute over 95% of cases, represent distinct diseases with different prognoses and therapy. This review outlines contemporary advances in molecular pathology, which have expanded our knowledge of the biology of epithelial ovarian cancer and are also important to patient management.

This paper proposes a new approach to estimating investor sentiments and their implications for the global financial markets. Contextualising the COVID-19 pandemic, we draw on the six behavioural indicators (media coverage, fake news, panic, sentiment, media hype and infodemic) of the 17 largest economies and data from January 2020 to February 2021. Our key findings, obtained using a time-varying parameter-vector auto-regression (TVP-VAR) model, indicate the total and net connectedness for the new index, entitled 'feverish sentiment'.

Objective: Germline BRCA1-2 pathogenic variants (gBRCApv) increase the risk of pancreatic cancer and predict for response to platinating agents and poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitors. Data on worldwide gBRCApv incidence among pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) patients are sparse and describe a remarkable geographic heterogeneity. The aim of this study is to analyze the epidemiology of gBRCApv in Italian patients.

Background: Functional motor disorders (FMDs) are abnormal movements that are significantly altered by distractive maneuvers and are incongruent with movement disorders seen in typical neurological diseases.
Objective: The objectives of this article are to (1) describe the clinical manifestations of FMDs, including nonmotor symptoms and occurrence of other functional neurological disorders (FND); and (2) to report the frequency of isolated and combined FMDs and their relationship with demographic and clinical variables.
Methods: For this multicenter, observational study, we enrolled consecutive outpatients with a definite diagnosis of FMDs attending 25 tertiary movement disorders centers in Italy.

Introduction: The overall frequency of postural abnormalities (PA) in Parkinson's disease (PD) is unknown. We evaluated the overall prevalence of PA and assessed the association with demographic and clinical variables.
Methods: For this multicenter, cross-sectional study, consecutive PD outpatients attending 7 tertiary Italian centers were enrolled.

The aim of this study was to compare the activity profile (external loads) during soccer-7 competition versus 6 vs 6 small-sided games ( SSGs) in U12 players. Peak velocity (V), total distance completed (DT), total distance relative to match duration, the percentage of DT in acceleration (%DAC) and in deceleration (%DEA), and the percentage of DT at different speeds were recorded. Six types of SSGs were randomly implemented: without pitch orientation-delimitation and with a limit of three ball-contacts per player (3TOU), with no limit of ball-contacts (MAN), with a greater number of players as internal-offensive wildcard players (2WI) or external-offensive wildcard players (4WE); and with pitch orientation-delimitation and crossing the rival goal-line while dribbling the ball without goalkeepers (INV) or using official goalkeepers (GKP).

The storage of surplus oocytes by cryopreservation (OC) is a widely used tool in assisted reproductive technology, but there is a great debate about the effects of cryopreservation on oocyte competence. It is known that OC may affect meiotic spindles but remains unclear if OC may increase the risk of aneuploidy. The aim of this study was to test the effects of OC and women aging on the expression of cytokinesis-related genes playing an important role in the segregation of chromosomes (DCTN1, DCTN2, DCTN3, DCTN6 and PLK1).

Purpose: To reach a consensus, among experts, on the role of aflibercept in diabetic macular edema (DME) through literature review.
Methods: Two round tables, involving 12 Italian experts, were organized: in the first one, 6 pharmacologic and clinical questions were selected and analyzed by a systematic literature review, using a population, intervention, control, and outcomes framework; in the second one, the nominal group technique was used to discuss relevant evidence related to each question. The consensus was assessed using the 5-point Delphi score.
Aim: To explore the relationship between the anatomical site of peripheral venous catheterization and risk of catheter-related phlebitis.
Background: Peripheral venous catheterization is frequently associated with phlebitis. Recent guidelines, recommend the use of an upper-extremity site for catheter insertion but no univocal consensus exists on the anatomical site with lower risk of phlebitis.

Most of the de novo BRCA1/2 mutations have been identified in patients with early-onset breast cancer and without family history of the disease. The identification of these alterations could play a prominent role in the prevention and treatment strategies and may influence clinical management of patients.

Despite numerous circumstantial evidences, the pathogenic role of TGF-β in primary myelofibrosis (PMF), the most severe of the Philadelphia-negative myeloproliferative neoplasms, is still unclear because of the modest (2-fold) increases in its plasma levels observed in PMF patients and in the Gata1(low) mouse model. Whether myelofibrosis is associated with increased bioavailability of TGF-β bound to fibrotic fibres is unknown. Transmission electron-microscopy (TEM) observations identified that spleen from PMF patients and Gata1(low) mice contained megakaryocytes with abnormally high levels of TGF-β and collagen fibres embedded in their cytoplasm.

Purpose: To report a case of macular pseudohole (MPH) development after sustained-release dexamethasone intravitreal implant for chronic macular edema due to central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO).
Methods: A 70-year-old man with cystoid macular edema (CME) due to CRVO underwent sustained-release dexamethasone intravitreal implant. En face optical coherence tomography (OCT) was performed before and after treatment.

Haematological abnormalities are common during combination antiviral therapy for chronic hepatitis C. Although dose reduction or discontinuation can easily treat these side effects, they can adversely affect the efficacy of combination antiviral therapy reducing the likelihood of a sustained viral response (SVR). To avoid potentially diminishing a patient's chance of response, many physicians have begun using growth factors off-label to manage anaemia and neutropenia in hepatitis C.

We used proteomic approach to analyze the protein profile of human follicular fluid (HFF) obtained from 25 normo-ovulatory women undergoing assisted reproduction techniques due to a male infertility factor. In all HFF samples analyzed we found 695 common spots distributed in the 3 to 10 pH range and in the 10-200 kDa range. Only 625 of these spots were also present in the plasma.

Purpose: To report a case of spontaneous closure of traumatic macular hole in a young patient followed using optical coherence tomography (OCT) and fundus microperimetry.
Methods/results: In the right eye of a 10-year-old child, a traumatic macular hole was observed to spontaneously resolve 18 weeks after blunt trauma. Initially, visual acuity in the right eye was 20/200 and OCT examination showed a 200 microm-diameter full-thickness macular hole with perifoveal edema.

Purpose: To report a case of surgical resolution of bilateral vitreomacular traction syndrome related to incomplete posterior vitreoschisis as documented by optical coherence tomography (Stratus OCT, Carl Zeiss Meditec, Dublin, CA).
Case Report: In both eyes of a 72-year-old man with bilateral blurred vision, OCT examination disclosed a relevant increase in mean foveal thickness (right eye = 714 microm; left eye = 757 microm) due to a vitreomacular traction syndrome. At the edges of the most highly elevated area of vitreo-macular traction, OCT scans showed a characteristic splitting of the hyperreflective signal in both eyes, usually identified as posterior vitreous cortex.
