Here, we employ polymer physics models of chromatin to investigate the 3D folding of a 2 Mb wide genomic region encompassing the human gene, a crucial DNA locus involved in key cellular functions. Through extensive Molecular Dynamics simulations, we reconstruct in silico the ensemble of single-molecule 3D structures, which we benchmark against recent in situ Hi-C 2.0 data.

Introduction: Intraoperative fluorescence guidance is a well-established surgical adjunct in high-grade glioma surgery. In contrast, the clinical use of such dyes and technology has been scarcely reported in skull base surgery.
Research Question: We aimed to systematically review the clinical applications of different fluorophores in both open and endonasal skull base surgery.

Background: Chronic pain and inflammation are common features of rheumatic conditions such as Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA) and Axial Spondyloarthritis (axSpA), often needing prolonged medication treatment for effective management. Maintaining drug retention is essential for both achieving disease control and improving patients' quality of life. This study investigates the influence of pain catastrophizing, a psychological response to pain, on the drug retention rates of PsA and axSpA patients.

Highly purified human menopausal gonadotropin (HP-hMG [Menopur, Ferring Pharmaceuticals, Saint-Prex, Switzerland]) contains a 1:1 ratio of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). This analysis aimed to assess gonadotropin (FSH, LH and hCG) abundance in HP-hMG and clarify the source of hCG by assessing the presence of sulfated glycans, which are diagnostic for pituitary hCG forms due to their distinct glycosylation patterns. Additionally, the purity of each sample, their specific components, and their oxidation levels were assessed.

Brain function requires a constant supply of glucose. However, the brain has no known energy stores, except for glycogen granules in astrocytes. In the present study, we report that continuous oligodendroglial lipid metabolism provides an energy reserve in white matter tracts.

Although microbiome signatures have been identified in various contexts (ie, pathogenesis of non-communicable diseases and treatment response), qualified microbiome-based biomarkers are currently not in use in clinical practice. The Human Microbiome Action consortium initiated a Delphi survey to establish a consensus on the needs, challenges, and limitations in developing qualified microbiome-based biomarkers. The questionnaire was developed by a scientific committee via literature review and expert interviews.

Cow's milk allergy (CMA) is one of the most common presentations of food allergy in early childhood. Management of CMA involves individualized avoidance of cow's milk and other mammalian milk and foods containing these. Optimal elimination of cow's milk avoidance includes: label reading; information about safe and nutritious substitute foods; appropriate choice of infant formula or a plant-based food; establishing tolerance to baked milk and monitoring nutritional intake and growth.

Risk stratification has gained an increasing role in predicting outcomes and guiding the treatment of patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). The most predictive prognostic factors are three noninvasive parameters (World Health Organization functional class, 6-min walk distance and natriuretic peptides) that are included in all currently validated risk stratification tools. However, suffering from limitations mainly related to reduced specificity of PAH severity, these variables may not always be adequate in isolation for guiding individualised treatment decisions.

Proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) has traditionally been managed with vitreoretinal surgery. Although there have been several recent innovations in this surgery to make the retinal approach as uninvasive as possible, the outcomes remain unsatisfactory. Significant complications remain and the complexity of the surgical approach is challenging.

Background And Aims: Insulin resistance (IR) is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Recently, a novel index (triglyceride-glucose index-TyG) has been proposed as a surrogate marker of IR and a better expression of IR than the Homeostatic Model Assessment of IR (HOMA-IR) index. Few and heterogeneous data are so far available on the relationship between vascular damage and this novel index.

Objective: The prognosis of colorectal cancer has continuously improved in recent years thanks to continuous progress in both the therapeutic and diagnostic fields. The specific objective of this study is to contribute to the diagnostic field through the evaluation of the correlation between superior hemorrhoidal vein (SHV) ectasia detected on computed tomography (CT) and Tumor (T), Node (N), and distant metastasis (M) examination and mesorectal fascia (MRF) invasion in the preoperative staging of rectal cancer.
Methods: Between January 2018 and April 2022, 46 patients with histopathological diagnosis of rectal cancer were retrospectively enrolled, and the diameter of the SHV was evaluated by CT examination.
