Introduction: Despite the availability of highly effective treatment for tuberculosis (TB), patients with TB may experience a relapse, which can be either a result of the disease reactivating or a new episode induced by reinfection. In Malaysia, there has been a noticeable rise in relapse TB cases, with a substantial rate of unsuccessful treatment outcomes among this population. This study seeks to examine the trends of unsuccessful treatment outcomes in relapse TB patients and explore how factors such as sociodemographic characteristics, TB disease profile, TB treatment profile, and comorbidities contribute to the outcomes.

This study explores the possibility of integrating and retrieving heterogenous data across platforms by using ontology graph databases to enhance educational insights and enabling advanced data-driven decision-making. Motivated by some of the well-known universities and other Higher Education Institutions ontology, this study improvises the existing entities and introduces new entities in order to tackle a new topic identified from the preliminary interview conducted in the study to cover the study objective. The paper also proposes an innovative ontology, referred to as Student Performance and Course, to enhance resource management and evaluation mechanisms on course, students, and MOOC performance by the faculty.

Eutrophication and hypereutrophication in lakes foster harmful blue-green algal blooms, which pose a significant threat to the ecological health of freshwater reservoirs. This study investigated the effectiveness of the bio-flocculation approach using the fungus strain BGF4A1 to remove these harmful blooms, specifically targeting cyanobacterial species like PCC-7914. Key flocculation parameters, cyanobacterial concentrations, adsorption kinetics, and pellet morphology were explored in this research.

Antibiotics are emerging environmental contaminants posing critical health risks due to their tendency to concentrate in living things and eventually infiltrate the human body. Sulfamethoxazole (SMZ) is among the commonly detected antibiotics in wastewater requiring effective removal approach. A sustainable, thermally stable and easily separable magnetic sporopollenin-cellulose triacetate (Msp-CTA) was developed via a simple step synthesis for eliminating SMZ from aqueous solution.

Background And Aims: Overweight and obesity are modifiable risk factors for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) in the general population, but their prevalence in individuals with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolaemia (HeFH) and whether they confer additional risk of ASCVD independent of LDL cholesterol (LDL-C) remains unclear.
Methods: Cross-sectional analysis was conducted in 35 540 patients with HeFH across 50 countries, in the EAS FH Studies Collaboration registry. Prevalence of World Health Organization-defined body mass index categories was investigated in adults (n = 29 265) and children/adolescents (n = 6275); and their association with prevalent ASCVD.

Vitamin E is renowned for its potent antioxidant properties, crucial for shielding cells against oxidative stress and damage. Deficiency in this vitamin can lead to various health issues, including neurodegenerative diseases, due to its pivotal role in preserving cell membrane integrity and combating cellular oxidative damage. While its importance for overall health, including neurodegeneration, is acknowledged, the specific correlation between vitamin E deficiency and distinct ocular neurodegenerative disorders need to be further explored.

Gelation and gel properties are crucial to surimi-based seafood products, and many factors significantly influence surimi gel quality. Although physical and chemical modifications can improve surimi gel performance, challenges such as high cost, difficulties in industrialization and environmental pollution pose significant barriers to their practicality. Natural additives offer a promising alternative by reinforcing and improving the characteristics of surimi gel through mechanisms such as protein conformational transformation, protein denaturation, and altered chemical forces.
