Topological Insulators (TIs) are promising platforms for Quantum Technology due to their topologically protected surface states (TSS). Plasmonic excitations in TIs are especially interesting both as a method of characterisation for TI heterostructures, and as potential routes to couple optical and spin signals in low-loss devices. Since the electrical properties of the TI surface are critical, tuning TI surfaces is a vital step in developing TI structures that can be applied in real world plasmonic devices.

Affordable 3D Orientation Visualization Solution for Working Class Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV).

Sensors (Basel)

August 2024

Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Dongguk University, Seoul 04620, Republic of Korea.

ROV operators often encounter challenges with orientation awareness while operating underwater, primarily due to relying solely on 2D camera feeds to manually control the ROV robot arm. This limitation in underwater visibility and orientation awareness, as observed among Malaysian ROV operators, can compromise the accuracy of arm placement, and pose a risk of tool damage if not handle with care. To address this, a 3D orientation monitoring system for ROVs has been developed, leveraging measurement sensors with nine degrees of freedom (DOF).

The optimal conditions of applied factors to reuse Aluminium AA6061 scraps are (450, 500, and 550) ⁰C preheating temperature, (1-15) % Boron Carbide (BC), and Zirconium (ZrO) hybrid reinforced particles at 120 min forging time via Hot Forging (HF) process. The response surface methodology (RSM) and machine learning (ML) were established for the optimisations and comparisons towards materials strength structure. The Ultimate Tensile Strength (UTS) strength and Microhardness (MH) were significantly increased by increasing the processed temperature and reinforced particles because of the material dispersion strengthening.

This research presents a comprehensive study of sequential oxidative extraction (SOE) consisting of alkaline and acidic oxidation processes to extract nanocellulose from plant biomass. This proposed process is advantageous as its operation requires a minimum process with mild solvents, and yet successfully isolated high-quality nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC) from raw OPEFB. The SOE involved ammonium hydroxide (NH4OH, 2.

Non-redundant implicational base of formal context with constraints using SAT.

PeerJ Comput Sci

January 2024

Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka, Melaka, Malaysia.

An implicational base is knowledge extracted from a formal context. The implicational base of a formal context consists of attribute implications which are sound, complete, and non-redundant regarding to the formal context. Non-redundant means that each attribute implication in the implication base cannot be inferred from the others.

Piping system is the main structure in many industrial applications, especially for large industry relating with processing and transporting fluids, such as oil and gas industries. The fluid-induced vibration is often the cause of structural fatigue in pipes and therefore piping vibration need to be closely monitored. In case of high piping vibration, knowledge of the natural frequency of a pipe section is crucial for an engineer to propose the right troubleshoot action, either for a temporary or even for a long-term solution for the piping vibration.
