Lifestyle intervention has proven effective in managing older adults' frailty and mild cognitive impairment issues. What remains unclear is how best to encourage lifestyle changes among older adults with frailty and Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI). We conducted searches in electronic literature searches such as PubMed, Scopus, Cochrane Reviews, ProQuest, and grey resources to find articles published in English between January 2010 and October 2023.

Advancements in food technology have increased the need for thorough analysis to ensure food safety, quality, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Capillary electrophoresis-mass spectrometry (CE-MS) has emerged as a powerful tool in food analysis due to its high separation efficiency, low sample consumption, and ability to handle complex matrices. However, challenges such as the use of volatile running buffers and maintaining the stability of the electrical circuit connecting the CE and MS systems have been addressed through advancements in interface designs, such as sheathless systems and optimized sheath-liquid compositions.

Background: Insulin resistance is an important pathological hallmark of Parkinson's disease (PD). Proinflammatory cytokines during neuroinflammation decrease insulin sensitivity by suppressing insulin signaling elements. Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), the main receptor involved in neuroinflammation, is also associated with the pathogenesis of PD.

In recent years, exoskeleton robots have attracted great interest from researchers in the area of robotics due to their ability to assist human functionality improvement. A wearable lower limb exoskeleton is aimed at supporting the limb functionality rehabilitation process and to assist physical therapists. Development of a stable and robust control system for multi-joint rehabilitation robots is a challenging task due to their non-linear dynamic systems.

ATP-pyrophosphatases (ATP-PPases) are the most primordial lineage of the large and diverse HUP (high-motif proteins, universal stress proteins, ATP-pyrophosphatase) superfamily. There are four different ATP-PPase substrate-specificity groups (SSGs), and members of each group show considerable sequence variation across the domains of life despite sharing the same catalytic function. Owing to the expansion in the number of ATP-PPase domain structures from advances in protein structure prediction by AlphaFold2 (AF2), we have characterized the two most populated ATP-PPase SSGs, the nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide synthases (NADSs) and guanosine monophosphate synthases (GMPSs).

The scientific literature on molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) has grown significantly in the past decades, reflecting an increasing interest in their potential applications. MIPs are valued for their ability to selectively detect a broad range of analytes and mimic biological recognition in different environmental conditions. This review utilises data (Scopus data from 2010 to 2024) from a bibliometric visualisation with VOSviewer (version 1.

This research presents the design and analysis of a compact metamaterial (MTM)-based star-shaped split-ring resonator (SRR) enclosed in a square, constructed on a cost-effective substrate for liquid chemical sensing applications. The designed structure has dimensions of 10 × 10 mm and is optimized for detecting adulteration in edible oils. When the sample holder is filled with different percentages of oil samples, the resonance frequency of the MTM-based SRR sensor shift significantly.

Introduction: A Modified Occupational Questionnaire (MOQ) is a self-report questionnaire that records the occupational engagement of an individual hourly, focusing on activity category, reason for doing the activity, value to self, and value to society. Understanding the patterns of occupational engagement and meaningful time use in older persons is crucial for predicting physical and psychological health and establishing occupation-based interventions to support healthy aging. However, the MOQ, originally developed in an English-speaking country and may potentially be less suitable for Malaysian older persons, who are predominantly Malay-speaking and have distinct cultural adaptations.

Mangrove-based carbon market projects (MbCMP) aim to conserve, protect and restore mangrove habitats in order to generate high quality blue carbon credits via a crediting program, as a contribution to climate change mitigation/adaptation, biodiversity conservation, ecosystem services provision and local socio-economic development. The blue carbon credits generated are transferable, verifiable and sold through carbon markets to earn additional income for governments and local communities. The main aim of the paper is to provide important considerations for pre-field planning, that is, how challenges associated with fieldwork, project implementation, and monitoring reporting and verification (MRV) can be addressed with proper pre-field planning.

Background: Mental health care during the postpartum period is notably underexplored within Asian demographics, with barriers such as stigma, privacy concerns, logistical challenges, and a shortage of mental health professionals that limits access to optimal mental healthcare. Previous studies found that mobile health (mHealth) technology has been offering a promising solution to these issues. However, the perspectives of mothers on existing mental health services and their mHealth needs are still not well understood and warrant further exploration.

Adenosine triphosphate (ATP)-binding cassette (ABC) transporter systems are divided into importers and exporters that facilitate the movement of diverse substrate molecules across the lipid bilayer, against the concentration gradient. These transporters comprise two highly conserved nucleotide-binding domains (NBDs) and two transmembrane domains (TMDs). Unlike ABC exporters, prokaryotic ABC importers require an additional substrate-binding protein (SBP) as a recognition site for specific substrate translocation.

The emergence of multidrug-resistant pathogens presents a significant global health challenge, which is primarily fuelled by overuse and misuse of antibiotics. Bacteria-derived antimicrobial metabolites offer a promising alternative strategy for combating antimicrobial resistance issues. Bacillus velezensis PD9 (BvPD9), isolated from stingless bee propolis, has been reported to have antibacterial activities against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

Background And Objectives: Some families faced difficulties accessing speech therapy in some areas of Malaysia and/or during the COVID-19 lockdown. Therefore, parent-mediated intervention could be one of the ways to solve this issue, as it has been proven to effectively improve communication skills among children with communication disorders. Hence, a Mandarin parental guidebook comprising a series of language stimulation activities was developed to explore the perception of parents of children with communication disorders, ranging from 3 to 6 years old, regarding the feasibility of (1) conducting speech-language home programs and (2) using a home-based parental guidebook as a tool to deliver a speech-language home program.

Intervertebral disc (IVD) degeneration is a major cause of low back pain (LBP), which results in disability worldwide. However, the pathogenesis of IVD degeneration mediating LBP remains unclear. Current conservative treatments and surgical interventions are both to relieve the symptoms and minimise pain; nevertheless, they are unable to reverse the degeneration.

Unlabelled: Guided bone regeneration (GBR) is an alternative treatment for craniofacial bone defects reconstruction through membrane barrier adaptation, such as demineralized dentin material membrane (DDMM). DDMM is used as a substitute for GBR material, which aligns with Green Economy principles, it has a good biological osteoinductive and osteoconductive effects, and its structure resembles bones. The balance of bone remodeling when experiencing craniofacial defects will be altered and allow changes to resorption activity, so the mechanisms of osteoclastogenesis and bone resorption are vital.

Eutrophication and hypereutrophication in lakes foster harmful blue-green algal blooms, which pose a significant threat to the ecological health of freshwater reservoirs. This study investigated the effectiveness of the bio-flocculation approach using the fungus strain BGF4A1 to remove these harmful blooms, specifically targeting cyanobacterial species like PCC-7914. Key flocculation parameters, cyanobacterial concentrations, adsorption kinetics, and pellet morphology were explored in this research.

The Mesenchymal Stem Cell (MSC) is a multipotent progenitor cell with known differentiation potential towards various cell lineage, making it an appealing candidate for regenerative medicine. One major contributing factor to age-related MSC dysfunction is cellular senescence, which is the hallmark of relatively irreversible growth arrest and changes in functional properties. GATA4, a zinc-finger transcription factor, emerges as a critical regulator in MSC biology.
