Background: Administering intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) as soon as possible after symptom onset impacts on the functional outcome for patients with acute ischaemic stroke. The study aimed to assess whether the distance from hospital impacts on the access to IVT for acute ischaemic stroke at the University Hospital of North Norway in Tromsø (UNN Tromsø).
Material And Method: This prospective quality study included 231 patients admitted with acute ischaemic stroke to UNN in the period 1 January 2019-31 December 2019.

Background: Hip dysplasia occurs in up to 3 % of neonates and if untreated can lead to dislocated hip, osteoarthritis and the need for a hip prosthesis. The study aimed to identify routines for ultrasound screening, treatment and follow-up of hip dysplasia in Norwegian hospitals.
Material And Method: An online questionnaire was sent to radiologists responsible for paediatric examinations at all hospitals with paediatric departments.

Glioblastoma is the most common form of primary brain cancer in adults, and the disease has a serious prognosis. Although great progress has been made in molecular characteristics, no major breakthroughs in treatment have been achieved for many years. In this article we present a clinical review of current diagnostics and treatment, as well as the challenges and opportunities inherent in developing improved and more personalised treatment.

Background: Gentamicin is often used to treat serious paediatric infections. It has been standard practice in Norway to measure the serum concentration of gentamicin immediately prior to the second or third dose (pre-dose [trough] concentration) to assess the risk of toxicity. The clinical significance of such measurements in children has not previously been evaluated in Norway.

Background: Skin and soft tissue infections are common in children. We wished to investigate the prevalence of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in wound drainage from children in Norway.
Material And Method: We conducted an observational study based on data from the Norwegian Surveillance System for Antimicrobial Drug Resistance (NORM) for the period 2013-21.
Around 700 people in Norway have myasthenia gravis, an autoimmune disease that affects neuromuscular transmission and results in fluctuating weakness in some muscles as its sole symptom. The diagnosis is based on typical symptoms and findings, detection of antibodies and neurophysiological examination. Symptomatic treatment with acetylcholinesterase inhibitors is generally effective, but most patients also require immunosuppressive drug treatment.

Therapeutic hypothermia is used to provide neuroprotection during certain types of surgery and after serious events that pose a threat to the brain.
