Devonian-Mississippian magmatism related to extensional collapse in Svalbard: implications for radiating dyke swarms.

Background: Despite extensive studies of the Mesozoic-Cenozoic magmatic history of Svalbard, little has been done on the Paleozoic magmatism due to fewer available outcrops.

Methods: 2D seismic reflection data were used to study magmatic intrusions in the subsurface of eastern Svalbard.

Results: This work presents seismic evidence for west-dipping, Middle Devonian-Mississippian sills in eastern Spitsbergen, Svalbard.

Caledonian reactivation and reworking of Timanian thrust systems and implications for latest Mesoproterozoic to mid-Paleozoic tectonics and magmatism in northern Baltica.

Background: The Trollfjorden-Komagelva Fault Zone is the southernmost thrust fault of the Timanian Orogen and extends for thousands of kilometers from northwestern Russia to northern Norway. Though there is little about its location onshore northeastern Norway, where it is mapped as a major fault system dominantly comprised of NNE-dipping thrust faults, its continuation to the west below Caledonian nappes and offshore post-Caledonian sedimentary basins remains a matter of debate.

Methods: The present study provides a more definitive answer about the continuation of Trollfjorden-Komagelva Fault Zone west of the Varanger Peninsula by using seismic reflection, bathymetric, topographic, and magnetic data onshore Finnmark and offshore on the Finnmark Platform.

Delirium is an acute change in attention and awareness that fluctuates and is accompanied by cognitive impairment. Patients with delirium may have disorders of perception such as hallucinations and delusions. The condition is triggered by acute illness or injury, and the risk is highest in sick older patients and patients in intensive care.

Cosmetic surgery among women - a cross-sectional study.

Background: Studies from 2003 and 2008 indicated that 7-8 % of adult women in Norway had undergone cosmetic surgery. As there is little research available on the current situation, the main purpose of this study was to map the use of, desire for and social acceptance of cosmetic surgery. We also wanted to identify differences in demographic and psychosocial factors between women who have undergone cosmetic surgery, those who desire such surgery and those who do not.

Background: When haemolytic anaemia, thrombocytopenia and renal failure are present, a thrombotic microangiopathic (TMA) condition should be suspected. We describe the various differential diagnoses of primary TMA syndromes, their clinical findings, clinical workup and treatment.

Autism diagnoses in school-age children in southern Trøndelag 2016-2019.

Background: We have previously reported a significantly higher prevalence of autism spectrum disorders in southern Trøndelag among preschool children with mothers from a different national background than Norway. In this study, we wanted to investigate whether, in the same period and in the same geographic area, there was also an excess prevalence among school-age children. Additionally, we wanted to identify psychiatric and developmental comorbidities.

Pseudosuchian thermometabolism: A review of the past two decades.

Pseudosuchia, one of the two main clades of Archosauria, is today only represented by some 20 extant species, the crocodilians, representing only a fraction of its extinct diversity. Extant crocodilians are ectotherms but present morphological and anatomical features usually associated with endothermy. In 2004, it was proposed that pseudosuchians were ancestrally endothermic and the features observed in extant crocodilians are the remains of this lost legacy.

Conversations with patients about death - experienced GPs' reflections and experiences.

Background: The ageing population in Norway is steadily increasing, and both the number and complexity of patient-related tasks assigned to the primary health service, including GPs, are growing. This study aimed to investigate how experienced GPs conducted and reflected on conversations with their patients about death.

Visual snow is a persistent visual disturbance in which small dots of light appear across the visual field of both eyes, like snowfall. The condition is not widely known, but an increasing number of cases have been described in the last 5 - 6 years. Many patients have consulted a number of specialists without receiving an explanation for their symptoms, and in this clinical review article we therefore wish to make the condition known to more clinicians.

Surgical treatment of benign colorectal polyps 2008-21.

Background: Colorectal cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer in Norway, and typically develops from colorectal polyps. For benign colorectal polyps, endoscopic removal is recommended to avoid unnecessary surgery. Teaching critical thinking about health information and choices in secondary schools: human-centred design of digital resources.

Background: Learning to thinking critically about health information and choices can protect people from unnecessary suffering, harm, and resource waste. Earlier work revealed that children can learn these skills, but printing costs and curricula compatibility remain important barriers to school implementation. Background: In the period 2002-2020, a total of 431 people were sentenced to coercive mental health care. Many of these had served time in prison, either previously or in connection with the criminal acts that led to the current sentences. This study examines the background, criminal history and mental health status of individuals before they committed the offences that led to their imprisonment.

Vulvar leiomyoma.

Vulvar leiomyoma is rare and is often misdiagnosed as a cyst or abscess in the Bartholin's glands. Other causes of benign tumours of the vulva are Gartner's duct cysts, fibromas, fibroadenomas, lipomas and hamartomas. Adenoma was the tentative diagnosis is this case history, but the histology showed a benign leiomyoma.
