Department of Pediatric Cardiology, University of Health Sciences, Ankara City Hospital, Üniversiteler Mahallesi 1604, Cadde No 9 Çankaya, Ankara, Turkey.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study focuses on transcatheter closure of ventricular septal defects (VSD) in infants under 10 kg using the Lifetech Konar-MF device, which provides a less invasive procedure with only venous access, avoiding more complex techniques.
  • - Conducted between January 2021 and May 2023, 34 infants participated in the study, with all successfully receiving device placements; however, some experienced complications such as device embolization and residual shunts, but none developed complete heart block.
  • - The findings suggest that this method is both safe and effective, showing a high success rate while minimizing potential risks commonly associated with traditional closure techniques, making it a valuable option for treating small infants with VSD
