Background: Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) is a fatal degenerative brain disease characterized by rapidly progressive dementia. Sporadic CJD (sCJD) is the best-known and most common subtype. Because the disease is uncommon and has highly diverse presenting symptoms, early diagnosis is challenging.

The clinical significance of calcium/magnesium ratio in primary hyperparathyroidism: unveiling a clinical association.

Purpose: In previous studies, magnesium (Mg) was found to be lower in cases with more severe primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) and higher calcium (Ca) levels. This study evaluated the relationship between serum Mg and serum Ca and phosphorus (P) levels in PHPT and their utility in determining the presence of osteoporosis and nephrolithiasis.

Methods: Patients who were followed up with PHPT between March 2019 and March 2023 were analyzed retrospectively.

Methods: This prospective cross-sectional study was conducted with 91 pregnant women. Fetal neurosonography scans were performed in the third trimester, and according to body mass index (BMI) values, the patients were evaluated in two groups: obese (BMI ≥ 30 kg/m) and normal weight (BMI < 30 kg/m).

The connectivity-based parcellation of the angular gyrus: fiber dissection and MR tractography study.

The angular gyrus (AG) wraps the posterior end of the superior temporal sulcus (STS), so it is considered a continuation of the superior temporal gyrus (STG)/ middle temporal gyrus (MTG) and forms the inferior parietal lobule (IPL) with the supramarginal gyrus (SMG). The AG was functionally divided in the literature, but there is no fiber dissection study in this context. This study divided AG into superior (sAG) and inferior (iAG) parts by focusing on STS.

Complex Post-intubation Tracheal Stenosis in Covid-19 Patients.

 Management of tracheal complications due to endotracheal intubation in patients with coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) is an important concern. This study aimed to present the  results of patients who had undergone tracheal resection and reconstruction due to COVID-19-related complex post-intubation tracheal stenosis (PITS). We evaluated 15 patients who underwent tracheal resection and reconstruction due to complex PITS between March 2020 and April 2021 in a single center.

Evaluation of 254 cesarean sections with COVID-19 in terms of anesthesia and clinical course: 1-year experience.

Background: The aim of the study was to predict the probability of intensive care unit (ICU) care for inpatient COVID-19 cases using clinical and artificial intelligence segmentation-based volumetric and CT-radiomics parameters on admission.

Methods: Twenty-eight clinical/laboratory features, 21 volumetric parameters, and 74 radiomics parameters obtained by deep learning (DL)-based segmentations from CT examinations of 191 severe COVID-19 inpatients admitted between March 2020 and March 2021 were collected. Patients were divided into Group 1 (117 patients discharged from the inpatient service) and Group 2 (74 patients transferred to the ICU), and the differences between the groups were evaluated with the T-test and Mann-Whitney test.

Introduction: Introduction Causes of a bulging fontanel in children include viral/bacterial meningitis, encephalitis, hydrocephaly, intracranial bleeding, psedotumor cerebri and central nervous system tumors. A less well-known cause of acutely-developing fontanel bulging is transient intracranial hypertension.

Can ultrasound guidance reduce radiation exposure significantly in percutaneous nephrolithotomy in pediatric patients?

In this study, we aimed to compare clinical and technical outcomes between pediatric patients who underwent percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) under fluoroscopy (FL) and those that underwent this procedure under FL with ultrasound assistance (FLUSA). The data of 66 PCNL patients were analyzed retrospectively. Renal puncture was successful in 22 patients in the FLUSA group and 44 patients in the FL group.
