The arterial wall's tri-layered macroscopic and layer-specific microscopic structure determine its mechanical properties, which vary at different arterial locations. Purpose: Neoadjuvant systemic therapy (NST) is increasingly used in breast cancer patients and depending on subtype, 10-89% of patients will attain pathologic complete response (pCR). In patients with pCR, risk of local recurrence (LR) after breast conserving therapy is low. Although adjuvant radiotherapy after breast conserving surgery (BCS) reduces LR further in these patients, it may not contribute to overall survival.

Iron(II) and Ru(II) half-sandwich compounds encompass some promising pre-clinical anticancer agents whose efficacy may be tuned by structural modification of the coordinated ligands. Here, we combine two such bioactive metal centres in cationic bis(diphenylphosphino)alkane-bridged heterodinuclear [Fe, Ru] complexes to delineate how ligand structural variations modulate compound cytotoxicity. Specifically, Fe(II) complexes of the type [(η-CH)Fe(CO)(κ-PPh(CH)PPh)]{PF} (n = 1-5), compounds 1-5, and heterodinuclear [Fe, Ru] complexes, [(η-CH)Fe(CO)(μ-PPh(CH)PPh))(η-p-cymene)RuCl]{PF} (n = 2-5) (compounds 7-10), were synthesized and characterised.

Central nervous system (CNS) drug discovery suffers from high attrition rates; translational neuroscience approaches aiming to reduce these high rates include the use of brain imaging technologies. However, there is a need to better understand what methods are being used and for what diseases and purposes. Our analysis of the literature found that magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), positron emission tomography (PET), and single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) were the neuroimaging techniques used most often in clinical trials for the most prevalent CNS diseases: Alzheimer's disease (AD), Parkinson's disease (PD), depression, and schizophrenia.

To provide a systematic review and meta-analysis that evaluates the diagnostic accuracy of contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM) compared to standard contrast-enhanced breast magnetic resonance imaging (breast MRI). Like breast MRI, CEM enables tumour visualization by contrast accumulation. CEM seems to be a viable substitute for breast MRI.

Interactions between the aging brain and motor task complexity across the lifespan: balancing brain activity resource demand and supply.

The Compensation Related Utilization of Neural Circuits Hypothesis (CRUNCH) proposes a framework for understanding task-related brain activity changes as a function of healthy aging and task complexity. Specifically, it affords the following predictions: (i) all adult age groups display more brain activation with increases in task complexity, (ii) older adults show more brain activation compared with younger adults at low task complexity levels, and (iii) disproportionately increase brain activation with increased task complexity, but (iv) show smaller (or no) increases in brain activation at the highest complexity levels. To test these hypotheses, performance on a bimanual tracking task at 4 complexity levels and associated brain activation were assessed in 3 age groups (20-40, 40-60, and 60-80 years, n = 99).
