Background: The proportion of residual leukemic blasts after chemotherapy assessed by multiparameter flow cytometry, is an important prognostic factor for the risk of relapse and overall survival in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). This measurable residual disease (MRD) is used in clinical trials to stratify patients for more or less intensive consolidation therapy. However, an objective and reproducible analysis method to assess MRD status from flow cytometry data is lacking, yet is highly anticipated for broader implementation of MRD testing.

The aim of this study is to assess the presence of MDP at various stages of the bonding procedure, enhance the adhesive and mechanical behavior of cemented zirconia ceramics. Fifty ceramic slices (15 × 15 × 2 mm) and 48 discs (Ø= 10 mm, 1 mm thickness) were prepared, sintered, air-abraded with aluminum oxide, and allocated considering: 1) microshear bond strength (µSBS) between ceramic slices and luting agent cylinders (height= 1 mm, Ø= 1.2 mm); 2) fatigue behavior, ceramic discs paired and bonded onto fiber-epoxy resin discs (Ø= 10 mm, 2.

Sexual dimorphism plays an important role in the pathogenesis and progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Men with CKD often exhibit faster kidney function decline, leading to higher rates of kidney failure and mortality compared to women. Studies suggest that sex hormones may influence this apparent dimorphism, although the mechanisms underlying these influences remain poorly understood.

Objective: To explore the personal experiences of women faced with the decision to continue a triplet pregnancy or undergo multifetal pregnancy reduction.
Methods: A qualitative study with semi-structured interviews was conducted between October 2021 and April 2023. Participants included women who continued a triplet pregnancy, and those who underwent multifetal pregnancy reduction from triplet to twins or singletons, 1-6 years post-decision.

The overall survival in patients with multiple myeloma has increased over recent decades. This trend is anticipated to further advance with the emergence of T-cell-redirecting therapies, including chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR T) therapy and T-cell-engaging bispecific antibodies. Despite these therapeutic improvements, treatment-related adverse events impede quality of life.

Background: The objectives of this study are to explore healthcare workers' (HCWs') mental models regarding psychological distress and to compare these with that of experts.
Methods: Semistructured interviews were conducted (n = 28 HCWs, n = 13 experts). The topic list encompassed risk perception, early stress symptoms, causes, consequences, and preventive measures of psychological distress.

Mini dental implants (MDIs) are alternatives to support an overdenture when a standard diameter implant cannot be placed due to lack of bone volume. They reduce the need for invasive bone grafting and lower the barrier for treatment. This prospective study reports on implant and patient-centered outcomes of flaplessly placed, early loaded MDIs supporting horseshoe-shaped maxillary overdentures after 7 years of function.

This study aimed to evaluate the marginal and internal adaptation of CAD/CAM crowns milled using two different milling protocols (fine or extra-fine) within a 4-axis milling machine. The crowns were fabricated from lithium disilicate ceramic (IPS e.max CAD) and resin composite (Tetric CAD), assessing their fit in various regions.

Continuous-flow methodologies offer promising avenues for sustainable processing due to their precise process control, scalability, and efficient heat and mass transfer. The small dimensions of continuous-flow reactors render them highly suitable for light-assisted reactions, as can be encountered in carbon dioxide hydrogenations. In this study, we present a reactor system emphasizing reproducibility, modularity, and automation, facilitating streamlined screening of conditions and catalysts for these processes.

Conventional wisdom suggests that social media, especially when used by authoritarian powers with nefarious aims, leaves citizens of democratic countries vulnerable to psychological influence campaigns. But such concerns overlook predispositions among recipients of false claims to reject (or to endorse) conspiratorial narratives. Analyzing responses from a survey fielded in 19 countries, we find that it is a preexisting conspiracy outlook at the individual level, more so than media diets, which consistently predicts rating Russia's pretenses for the invasion as more accurate.

Mammalian odorant binding proteins (OBPs) have long been suggested to transport hydrophobic odorant molecules through the aqueous environment of the nasal mucus. While the function of OBPs as odorant transporters is supported by their hydrophobic beta-barrel structure, no rationale has been provided on why and how these proteins facilitate the uptake of odorants from the gas phase. Here, a multi-scale computational approach validated through available high-resolution spectroscopy experiments reveals that the conformational space explored by carvone inside the binding cavity of porcine OBP (pOBP) is much closer to the gas than the aqueous phase, and that pOBP effectively manages to transport odorants by lowering the free energy barrier of odorant uptake.

Background: Proximal caries datasets for training artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms commonly include clinician-annotated radiographs. These conventional annotations are susceptible to observer variability, and early caries may be missed. Micro-computed tomography (CT), while not feasible in clinical applications, offers a more accurate imaging modality to support the creation of a reference-standard dataset for caries annotations.

The movement of refugees across borders has become a persistent feature of contemporary global society. Despite the protections offered by the 1951 Refugee Convention, which has been ratified by some 146 states, countries in the Global North have adopted a variety of contradictory and incoherent policy responses to refugees and migrants. These responses have been influenced by anti-immigrant public sentiment and growing popular demands to restrict and manage cross-border movements.

Introduction: Although cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) effectively treats obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), many patients refuse CBT or drop out prematurely, partly because of anxiety regarding exposure and response prevention (ERP) exercises. Inference-based cognitive behavioral therapy (I-CBT) focuses on correcting distorted inferential thinking patterns, enhancing reality-based reasoning, and addressing obsessional doubt by targeting underlying dysfunctional reasoning, without incorporating an ERP component. We hypothesized that I-CBT would be non-inferior to CBT.

Mechanical metamaterials exhibit interesting properties such as high stiffness at low density, enhanced energy absorption, shape morphing, sequential deformations, auxeticity and robust waveguiding. Until now, metamaterial design has primarily relied on geometry, and materials nonlinearities such as viscoelasticity, fracture and plasticity have been largely left out of the design rationale. In fact, plastic deformations have been traditionally seen as a failure mode and thereby carefully avoided.

With a focus on the challenges of today and tomorrow in the critical medical humanities the role of history is often overlooked. Yet history and medicine are closely intertwined. Right now, with the surfacing of knotty problems such as changing demographics, chronic pain, loneliness and Long Covid - and the consequent necessity to change directions and policies - history seems more urgent than ever.

Influential models of fears and phobias suggest that irrational threat beliefs underpin excessive fear. Yet, many fearful individuals recognize their fear is not justified. Drawing on memory competition/multiple representations theory, we developed a novel, fear-relevant procedure, which reveals conflicting representations of threat.

This study aimed to investigate the mechanical behavior of resin composites and hybrid glass ionomer cement in class I adhesive dental restorations under loading and shrinkage conditions. Three CAD models of a mandibular first molar with class I cavities were created and restored with different techniques: a bi-layer of Equia Forte HT with Filtek One Bulk Fill Restorative composite (model A), a single layer of adhesive and Filtek One Bulk Fill Restorative (model B), and a single layer of Equia forte HT (model C). Each model was exported to computer-aided engineering software, and 3D finite element models were created.
