Background: Extracorporeal blood purification with CytoSorb has been increasingly used as an adjunctive therapy in several hyperinflammatory critical care conditions, as well as to remove elevated levels of myoglobin or bilirubin in patients with rhabdomyolysis or liver failure. Despite the increasing worldwide use of hemoadsorption, data from large international multicenter studies are still lacking.
Objective: The COSMOS (CytoSorb Treatment Of Critically Ill Patients) registry is a company-sponsored registry by CytoSorbents Corporation and CytoSorbents Medical Inc.

For cancer patients with a high risk of ovarian tissue metastasis, ovarian autotransplantation is not advised due to the potential spread of malignant cells. Ex vivo purging of ovarian fragments may offer a more suitable alternative for fertility restoration. Eradicating malignant cells should be done selectively without affecting follicles or ovarian stromal cells (SCs).

Breast cancer (BC) is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in women worldwide. Chemodynamic therapy (CDT), photothermal therapy (PTT), and ion interference therapy (IIT), used in combination, represent a common treatment. In this study, platelet membrane-camouflaged copper-doped CaO biomimetic nanomedicines have been developed for breast cancer treatments.

Introduction: Non-small cell lung cancers (NSCLC) are the most common lung cancers, withpeak incidence at 65years of age. These cancers rarely occur before the age of 40.
Methods: Based on an illustrative clinical case, a systematic review of the literature was conducted to study the epidemiological, clinical, histological, and biological characteristics of NSCLC in adults under 40years of age.

Postoperative radiotherapy (RT) has been shown to effectively reduce disease recurrence and mortality in breast cancer (BC) treatment. A critical step in the planning workflow is the accurate delineation of clinical target volumes (CTV) and organs-at-risk (OAR). This literature review evaluates recent advancements in deep-learning (DL) and atlas-based auto-contouring techniques for CTVs and OARs in BC planning-CT images for RT.

Background: A rebound in antibiotic consumption has been observed in the European community at the end of the COVID-19 pandemic. Here we evaluate the extent of this increase, when it exactly occurred, and how the seasonality in antibiotic use changed during the late-pandemic period.
Methods: Data on community antibiotic consumption were available from the European Surveillance of Antimicrobial Consumption Network for 28 European countries between 2015 and 2022.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus infection presents complications known as long COVID, a multisystemic organ disease which allows multidimensional analysis. This study aims to uncover clusters of long COVID cases and establish their correlation with the clinical classification developed at the Clinical Research Unit of Brugmann University Hospital, Brussels. Such an endeavour is instrumental in customizing patient management strategies tailored to the unique needs of each distinct group.

Particulate nitrate is a major component of fine particulate matter (PM) and a key target for improving air quality. Its formation is varyingly sensitive to emissions of nitrogen oxides (NO ≡ NO + NO), ammonia (NH), and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Diagnosing the dominant sensitivity is critical for effective pollution control.

Allorecognition in is controlled by a highly polymorphic locus (the ), and functionally similar to missing-self recognition utilized by Natural Killer cells-compatibility is determined by sharing a self-allele, and integration of activating and inhibitory signals determines outcome. We had found these signals were generated by two -encoded receptors, called and Here we show that genes are members of an extended family consisting of >37 loci, and co-expressed with an even more diverse gene family-the (). The are membrane proteins related to , but include conserved tyrosine motifs, including ITIMs and hemITAMs.

Multifunctional hydrogel dressings remain highly sought after for the promotion of skin wound regeneration. In the present study, multifunctional CHS-DA/HACC (CH) hydrogels with an interpenetrated network were constructed using hydroxypropyl trimethyl ammonium chloride modified chitosan (HACC) and dopamine-modified chondroitin sulfate (CHS-DA), using genipin as crosslinker. The synthesis of HACC and CHS-DA was effectively confirmed using Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) analysis and H nuclear magnetic resonance (H NMR) spectroscopy.

Background: Froin's syndrome (FS) is a rare entity with uncertain prevalence and prognosis, defined by a pathognomonic triad: cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) xanthochromia, elevated protein levels in the CSF, and hypercoagulated CSF, usually obtained through lumbar puncturing below the level of a partial or complete spinal block.
Methods: We conducted a comprehensive review of the literature on FS from its first description in 1903 to December 2023, utilizing PubMed and Google Scholar, and included two new cases from our clinical practice.
Results: We describe two patients who suffered from Froin's syndrome secondary to spinal abscesses.

We present the CT, thoracoscopic, and histological findings of a 55-year-old female with pleuropulmonary epithelioid hemangioendothelioma. The CT scan revealed pleuropulmonary lesions, and thoracoscopy allowed direct visualization and biopsy of the lesions. Histological analysis confirmed the diagnosis, emphasizing the utility of combining imaging, endoscopic, and pathological methods in diagnosing this rare tumor.

Background: While cognitive reappraisal represents a promising emotion regulation strategy in regulating basic emotions, little experimental research has investigated its efficacy in reducing self-conscious emotions such as shame and guilt.
Objective: The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of detached reappraisal and positive reappraisal in regulating feelings of shame and guilt, and also compared the effectiveness of these two strategies using behavioral and event-related potentials.
Method: Thirty-nine participants grouped either in positive reappraisal or detached reappraisal condition were informed to advise the decider to perform a dot-estimation task.

Injectable hydrogels, which are polymeric materials that are characterized by their ability to be injected in a liquid form into cavities and subsequently undergo in situ solidification, have garnered significant attention. These materials are extensively used in a range of biomedical applications. This study synthesized several injectable composite hydrogels through the mild Schiff base reaction while imposing different concentrations of quaternary ammonium chitosan and oxidized pullulan.

Purpose Of Review: To analyze whether pregnancy could play a role in the higher prevalence of differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) in women. Estrogens strongly modify thyroid economy by increasing iodine clearance, thyroid hormone requirement and production. Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) contributes to the increased thyroid hormone synthesis.

Purpose Of Review: To analyze the reciprocal influences between female reproductive life and DTC management.
Recent Findings: Data on pregnancy outcome in DTC patients indicate that after conceiving, these women may need an increased L-T4 dose to maintain suppressed serum TSH levels. Nevertheless, this does not determine major harm in terms of pregnancy outcome.
