The viability of using fibers as reinforcement material for developing lightweight sustainable non-structural construction materials in compliance with the valorization of local by-products has been investigated in this work. This study aims to investigate the effect of the chemical treatment of fibers on the mechanical and hygric properties of bio-sourced clay-sand- fiber composite. This lightweight specimen has been produced from a mixture of 60% natural clay and 40% sand by mass, as a matrix, and reinforced with different amounts of Juncus fibers.

Confronting escalating challenges in energy security and environmental sustainability has intensified interest in renewable sources for fuels and chemicals. Among the most promising alternatives, sugars derived from biomass are emerging as a cornerstone in advancing an environmentally sustainable economy. Within this framework, the development of sunlight-driven carbohydrate oxidation is of significant interest, as it enables the production of a broad spectrum of high-value, bio-sourced chemicals through eco-friendly processes.

Currently, artemisinin-based combination therapy is recommended as first-line treatment of uncomplicated malaria. Arylamino alcohols (AAAs) such as mefloquine (MQ) are the preferred partner drugs due to their longer half-life, reliable absorption and strong antimalarial activity. However, the mode of action of MQ remains poorly understood and its neurotoxicity limits its use.

Flavonoids have been documented to have good antioxidant activities in vitro. In recent years, reports on the antioxidant activities of flavone glycosides, a subclass of flavonoids, have attracted great attention. Despite the wealth of information on this subject, the correlation between structure and function is not well understood.

Objective: The objective of this study was to analyse the association between body composition and changes in health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of patients followed for hip and knee osteoarthritis (OA).
Methods: Longitudinal data from the Knee and Hip OsteoArthritis Long-term Assessments (KHOALA) cohort, a multicentre cohort of 878 patients with symptomatic knee and/or hip OA, were used. The main outcome criteria were changes in patient-reported outcomes measures, the Study Short Form-36 (physical functioning, pain, mental health and vitality) and the OsteoArthritis Knee and Hip Quality Of Life (OAKHQOL)(physical activity, pain and mental health).

Unlabelled: Intestinal microsporidiosis caused by is an opportunistic infection that especially affects solid organ transplant (SOT) recipients. Management revolves around tapering the immunosuppressive regimen and/or using a specific anti-microsporidia treatment, but only fumagillin has demonstrated efficacy for treatment of this infection. Since fumagillin has been commercially discontinued, nitazoxanide is increasingly being used in this indication.

Platform chemicals obtained from biomass will play an important role in chemical industry. Already existing compounds or not yet established chemicals are produced from this renewable feedstock. Using photochemical reactions as sustainable method for the conversion of matter furthermore permits to develop processes that are interesting from the ecological and economical point of view.

Background: Dry January is a one-month alcohol abstinence challenge for the general population running since 2013 in the United Kingdom, and 2020 in France. Dry January has gained increasing popularity among the public, but studies assessing the individual characteristics associated with awareness and participation remain sparse.
Methods: Using quota sampling, a representative sample of 5,000 French adults completed an online cross-sectional survey between 8 and 17th January 2024.

Antifungal resistance in humans is a clinical reality of increasing incidence that raises problems for patient care. In this current event, we discuss the link that can be made between the presence of antifungals in the environment and the development of resistance in humans, as well as the ecotoxicology of antifungals. The presence of antifungals in the environment has a health, but also an ecological impact.

Objectives: While minimally invasive surgery (MIS) is the preferred approach in patients with early-stage lung cancer, intraoperative adverse events (IOAE) may still occur. The objective of this study was to assess the impact of a dedicated preoperative planning program on adverse event occurrence.
Methods: A single-centre cross-sectional comparative study was conducted, including all patients with proven/suspected lung cancer undergoing curative MIS, prior (September 2021-October 2022) and after (November 2022-January 2024) the implementation of a preoperative planning program.

Background: The biological activities of sulfated polysaccharides (SP) are well-documented, especially regarding wound healing. Sulfated galactan (SG), a type of SP extracted from the red seaweed , has been identified as having multiple therapeutic properties related to its wound healing capacity. Recent research indicates that degraded SG (DSG) from , when combined with octanoyl ester (DSGO), can improve wound healing in fibroblasts.

Dietary risk assessment of food contaminants requires a well-established understanding of the exposure in a heterogeneous population. There are many methods for estimating human exposure to food contaminants, such as intake calculations and internal biomarkers of exposure measured in individuals. However, those methods are expensive, partly invasive, and often provide a momentary exposure snapshot.

Introduction: A better understanding of the physiological response of silage maize to a mild reduction in nitrogen (N) fertilization and the identification of predictive biochemical markers of N utilization efficiency could contribute to limit the detrimental effect of the overuse of N inputs.
Objectives: We integrated phenotypic and biochemical data to interpret the physiology of maize in response to a mild reduction in N fertilization under agronomic conditions and identify predictive leaf metabolic and proteic markers that could be used to pilot and rationalize N fertilization.
Methods: Eco-physiological, developmental and yield-related traits were measured and complemented with metabolomic and proteomic approaches performed on young leaves of a core panel of 29 European genetically diverse dent hybrids cultivated in the field under non-limiting and reduced N fertilization conditions.
