Cognitive enrichment is a promising but understudied type of environmental enrichment that aims to stimulate the cognitive abilities of animals by providing them with more opportunities to interact with (namely, to predict events than can occur) and to control their environment. In a previous study, we highlighted that farmed rainbow trout can predict daily feedings after two weeks of conditioning, the highest conditioned response being elicited by the combination of both temporal and signalled predictability. In the present study, we tested the feeding predictability that elicited the highest conditioned response in rainbow trout (both temporal and signalled by bubbles, BUBBLE + TIME treatment) as a cognitive enrichment strategy to improve their welfare.

Amino acid (AA) transporters (AAT) control AA cellular fluxes across membranes, contributing to maintain cellular homeostasis. In this study, we took advantage of rainbow trout metabolic feature, which highly relies on dietary AA, to explore the cellular and physiological consequences of unbalanced diets on AAT dysregulations with a particular focus on cationic AAs (CAA), frequently underrepresented in plant-based diets. Results evidenced that 24 different CAAT are expressed in various trout tissues, part of which being subjected to AA- and CAA-dependent regulations, with exchanger being prone to the strongest dysregulations.

The syntheses of novel 2,4-bis[(substituted-aminomethyl)phenyl]phenylquinazolines and 2,4-bis[(substituted-aminomethyl)phenyl]phenylquinolines are reported here in six steps starting from various halogeno-quinazoline-2,4-(1,3)-diones or substituted anilines. The antiproliferative activities of the products were determined in vitro against a panel of breast (MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231), human adherent cervical (HeLa and SiHa), and ovarian (A2780) cell lines. Disubstituted 6- and 7-phenyl-bis(3-dimethylaminopropyl)aminomethylphenyl-quinazolines , , and displayed the most interesting antiproliferative activities against six human cancer cell lines.

Inulin, a prebiotic, could have nutritional and metabolic effects, along with anti-inflammatory properties in teleosts, improving growth and welfare. The reactivity of thioredoxin (Trx1) with the Au(I) drug auranofin (AF) and two therapeutic N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC)-Au(I) complexes (bis [1-methyl-3-acridineimidazolin-2-ylidene]gold(I) tetrafluoroborate (Au3BC) and [1,3-diethyl-4,5-bis(4methoxyphenyl)imidazol-2-ylidene]gold(I) (Au4BC)) was investigated. Direct infusion (DI) electrospray ionization (ESI) mass spectrometry (MS) allowed information on the structure, stoichiometry, and kinetics of formation of Trx-Au adducts. The fragmentation of the formed adducts in the gas phase gave insights into the exact Au binding site within the protein, demonstrating the preference for Trx1 Cys32 or Cys35 of AF or the (NHC)-Au(I) complex Au3BC, respectively.

Drawing on the relational and uncertainty models of justice, this research investigates the consequences of daily overall team justice perceptions on employees' daily psychological strain. Specifically, we examine daily psychological safety as a mediator of the relationship between daily overall team justice evaluations and daily psychological strain. We also argue that daily overall supervisor justice moderates this mediated relationship.
