The protozoan Toxoplasma gondii is a ubiquitous and highly prevalent parasite that can theoretically infect all warm-blooded vertebrates. In humans, toxoplasmosis causes infections in both immunodeficient and immunocompetent patients, congenital toxoplasmosis, and ocular lesions. These manifestations have different degrees of severity.

Addiction is considered a chronic disorder that requires long-term treatment. Early identification of predictors of outcome may enable better and early adjustment of treatment. Daily fluctuations of craving have been shown to predict substance use within hours, making it a major target for treatment.

Taybi-Linder syndrome (TALS) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by severe microcephaly with abnormal gyral pattern, severe growth retardation and bone abnormalities. It is caused by pathogenic variants in the RNU4ATAC gene. Its transcript, the small nuclear RNA U4atac, is involved in the excision of ~850 minor introns.

Background: Oximetry was proposed as an abbreviated exam, easily accepted by the child, for the diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) for children located in regions where access to pediatric sleep labs is limited. The objective of this study was to determine the diagnostic value of the oxygen desaturation index (ODI), the number of ≥ 3% oxygen desaturations per hour of recording, obtained by portable oximetry performed in parallel with video-polysomnography (PSG), in a cohort of children, with and without comorbidities, referred for OSA.
Methods: Data from portable oximetry performed in parallel with PSG were prospectively collected.

A new analytical method for the rapid detection of histamine (HA) in beverages using fluorescence detection has been devised. It is primarily based on the use of o-phthalaldehyde (OPA) as a derivatizing agent. This unstable complex has been efficiently stabilized by addition of surfactants.

Polysomnography (PSG) is the gold standard for diagnosing obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in children but not always available. Abbreviated exams exist, such as respiratory polygraphy (RP), but are less accurate for OSA diagnosis. Video recording (video-RP) may provide a more precise estimation of the total sleep time (TST) compared to RP alone.

Background: Influenza can be associated with nonrespiratory disease presentation, but these are less well documented due to the lack of routine testing for influenza in the healthcare system, especially if patients do not present with influenza-like illness (ILI). We aimed to measure the proportion of influenza cases seeking care at emergency department (ED) for a nontraumatic cause, to describe their clinical presentation and their ED-discharge diagnosis.
Methods: The study was conducted at seven hospitals in France, Spain, Italy and Germany during the 2019-20 influenza season, for a period of 10 weeks.

Introduction: Patients from low socioeconomic backgrounds are empirically considered more difficult to treat. The objectives were to evaluate low socioeconomic status of patients as a factor associated with increased treatment need and the correlation between socioeconomic status and dysmorphosis on one hand, and cooperation level on the other.
Material And Methods: This was a retrospective comparative monocentric observational cohort study.

Given its good tolerance and broad-spectrum, isavuconazole is increasingly used off-label as an empirical therapy of invasive fungal infections. We retrospectively reviewed isavuconazole empirical treatment during a 12-month period in four hospitals. During isavuconazole treatment (n=27), none of the patients had a mycological evidence for fungal infection, but 19% (5/27) developed liver test abnormalities without leading to isavuconazole discontinuation.

Objectives: Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) is a chronic lung disease that affects premature babies and contributes to their morbidity. French BPD guidelines suggest the use of intravenous methylprednisolone pulses (IVMP) for those who require respiratory support (RS) following 36 weeks postmenstrual age (PMA). However, there is scant data on the efficacy and tolerance for this indication.

Background: Influenza vaccines are effective in decreasing hospitalizations and mortality related to influenza and its complications. However, the Vaccine Coverage Rate of influenza remains low and multifaceted efforts are required to improve it. The aim of this study was to assess the impact on influenza vaccine perception using a digital tool among outpatients and health care workers (HCWs).

Chronic hepatitis B virus infection is a major health burden worldwide. Although efficient in maintaining the infection under control, current treatments are unable to fully eradicate the virus due to the persistence of its minichromosome, the so-called cccDNA. In the context of emerging antiviral and combinatorial therapies aiming at decreasing the cccDNA pool or at silencing its transcriptional activity, the detection and quantification of viral RNAs have gained increasing interest as a way to monitor the HBV reservoir.

The Rift Valley fever virus is one of the bunyaviruses on the WHO's priority list of pathogens that may cause future pandemics. A better understanding of disease progression and viral pathogenesis is urgently needed to develop treatments. The non-structural proteins NSs and NSm of human pathogenic bunyaviruses represent promising therapeutic targets, as they are often key virulence factors.

In recent years, particular attention has been paid to the serotonin 4 receptor, which is well expressed in the brain, but also peripherally in various organs. The cerebral distribution of this receptor is well conserved across species, with high densities in the basal ganglia, where they are expressed by GABAergic neurons. The 5-HT receptor is also present in the cerebral cortex, hippocampus, and amygdala, where they are carried by glutamatergic or cholinergic neurons.

Understanding the solid target dynamics resulting from the interaction with an ultrashort laser pulse is a challenging fundamental multi-physics problem involving atomic and solid-state physics, plasma physics, and laser physics. Knowledge of the initial interplay of the underlying processes is essential to many applications ranging from low-power laser regimes like laser-induced ablation to high-power laser regimes like laser-driven ion acceleration. Accessing the properties of the so-called pre-plasma formed as the laser pulse's rising edge ionizes the target is complicated from the theoretical and experimental point of view, and many aspects of this laser-induced transition from solid to overdense plasma over picosecond timescales are still open questions.

Introduction: Periodic breathing (PB) is considered physiological in the neonatal period and usually disappears in the first months of life. There are few data available on persistent PB after the neonatal period. The objective of this study was to characterize infants born at term with persistent PB after the age of 1 month through polysomnography (PSG) performed during symptoms.
