The dynamics of three-dimensional (3D) genome organization are essential to transcriptional regulation. While enhancers regulate spatiotemporal gene expression, chromatin looping is a means for enhancer-promoter interactions yielding cell-type-specific gene expression. Further, non-canonical DNA secondary structures, such as G-quadruplexes (G4s), are related to increased gene expression.

Background: Bacterial contamination of outlet water from dental unit waterlines (DUWLs) may lead to healthcare-associated infection. The aim of this study was to evaluate the contamination of DUWLs from new dental chairs before and after their initial shock disinfection with ICX Renew® and to determine the efficacy of this method of shock disinfection.
Methods: The microbiological quality of water samples obtained from the DUWLs of 17 new dental chairs installed at the University Hospital of Nancy, France, was assessed.

This study investigates the impact of recent Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven technological innovations on carbon prices across different quantiles, assessing the influence of AI stock prices on energy prices based on European carbon allowances while controlling for other macroeconomic factors. Using robust methods such as quantile-on-quantile regression, wavelet analysis, and transfer entropy, the research quantifies the information flow between the AI market and carbon allowances. Using daily data with four alternative AI stock prices from September 14, 2016, to December 29, 2023, the findings reveal a strong effect of AI returns on carbon prices, with significant fluctuations across price quantiles and consistent long-term average growth in market returns.

Background: Recent findings suggest that β3-adrenergic receptors (β3-AR) could play a role in the hemodynamic regulation, but their function in septic shock remains unclear. This study investigates the modulation of β3-AR in an experimental murine model of resuscitated septic shock on in vivo hemodynamic, ex vivo vasoreactivity, inflammation and survival.
Method: Wild-type mice were used, undergoing cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) to induce septic shock, with SHAM as controls.

Context: Mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) requires urgent treatment to prevent neurological damage. While gene therapy holds promise for effectively treating these diseases with minimal toxicity, access remains limited for most patients. Consequently, advancing allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) for young children is crucial.

Background: Various explicit screening tools, developed mostly in central Europe and the USA, assist clinicians in optimizing medication use for older adults. The Turkish Inappropriate Medication use in oldEr adults (TIME) criteria set, primarily based on the STOPP/START criteria set, is a current explicit tool originally developed for Eastern Europe and subsequently validated for broader use in Central European settings. Reviewed every three months to align with the latest scientific literature, it is one of the most up-to-date tools available.

This study investigated how imagery-based-suggestions were embodied in perception and behaviour. In experiment 1, Participants listened to several suggestion scripts while stretching the left arm (they were required not to move). During 30s, the script invited participants to imagine the experimenter facing them.

The increasing adoption of distributed recycling via additive manufacturing (DRAM) has facilitated the revalorization of materials derived from waste streams for additive manufacturing. Recycled materials frequently contain impurities and mixed polymers, which can degrade their properties over multiple cycles. This degradation, particularly in rheological properties, limits their applicability in 3D printing.

Background & Aims: Interventional clinical trials in ASUC are characterised by substantial heterogeneity due to a lack of consensus in several key areas of trial design - this impedes clinical research efforts to identify novel therapies. The objective of this initiative was to achieve the first consensus and provide clear position statements on ASUC trial design.
Methods: A modified Delphi consensus approach was employed with a panel of twenty clinicians with international representation and expertise in ASUC trial design and delivery.

Purpose: Few studies have evaluated the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of patients with diffuse low-grade glioma (LGG) during a clinical and radiological monitoring period. We report a cross sectional cohort study of HRQoL in patients with LGG and compare the results with normative population data. We then explore factors associated with HRQoL.

Background: Oximetry was proposed as an abbreviated exam, easily accepted by the child, for the diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) for children located in regions where access to pediatric sleep labs is limited. The objective of this study was to determine the diagnostic value of the oxygen desaturation index (ODI), the number of ≥ 3% oxygen desaturations per hour of recording, obtained by portable oximetry performed in parallel with video-polysomnography (PSG), in a cohort of children, with and without comorbidities, referred for OSA.
Methods: Data from portable oximetry performed in parallel with PSG were prospectively collected.

In this work, we explore the numerical solution of geometric shape optimization problems using neural network-based approaches. This involves minimizing a numerical criterion that includes solving a partial differential equation with respect to a domain, often under geometric constraints like a constant volume. We successfully develop a proof of concept using a flexible and parallelizable methodology to tackle these problems.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques that enhance the visualization of mineralized tissues (hereafter referred to as MT-MRI) are increasingly being incorporated into clinical practice, particularly in musculoskeletal imaging. These techniques aim to mimic the contrast provided by computed tomography (CT), while taking advantage of MRI's superior soft tissue contrast and lack of ionizing radiation. However, the variety of MT-MRI techniques, including three-dimensional gradient-echo, ultra-short and zero-echo time, susceptibility-weighted imaging, and artificial intelligence-generated synthetic CT, each offer different technical characteristics, advantages, and limitations.

Background: Obesity is associated with excessive adipocyte-derived aldosterone secretion, independent of the classical renin-angiotensin-aldosterone cascade, and mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists may be more effective in patients with heart failure (HF) and obesity.
Objectives: This study sought to examine the effects of the nonsteroidal mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist finerenone compared with placebo, according to body mass index (BMI) in FINEARTS-HF (FINerenone trial to investigate Efficacy and sAfety superioR to placebo in paTientS with Heart Failure).
Methods: A total of 6,001 patients with HF with NYHA functional class II, III, and IV, a left ventricular ejection fraction of ≥40%, evidence of structural heart disease, and elevated natriuretic peptide levels were randomized to finerenone or placebo.

In the intricate acoustic landscapes where speech intelligibility is challenged by noise and reverberation, multichannel speech enhancement emerges as a promising solution for individuals with hearing loss. Such algorithms are commonly evaluated at the utterance scale. However, this approach overlooks the granular acoustic nuances revealed by phoneme-specific analysis, potentially obscuring key insights into their performance.

Objectives: Venous popliteal aneurysms are a rare but serious disease due to the risk of pulmonary embolism. Aneurysms larger than 20 mm in diameter or with an embolic episode should be treated. The classic surgical technique is the tangential resection of the aneurysm with venorraphy, which raises the risk of recurrence.

Motivation: The human leukocyte antigen (HLA) system is the main cause of organ transplant loss through the recognition of HLAs present on the graft by donor-specific antibodies raised by the recipient. It is therefore of key importance to identify all potentially immunogenic B-cell epitopes on HLAs in order to refine organ allocation. Such HLAs epitopes are currently characterized by the presence of polymorphic residues called "eplets".

Fetal death is defined as the spontaneous cessation of cardiac activity after 14 weeks gestational age (GA). Regarding prevention of fetal death in the general population, it is not recommended to counsel or prescribe rest, aspirin, vitamin A, vitamin D, or micronutrient supplementation; systematically look for nuchal cord during prenatal screening ultrasound; or perform systematic antepartum monitoring by cardiotocography for the sole purpose of reducing the risk of fetal death. It is recommended to offer vaccination against influenza in epidemic periods and against SARS-CoV-2.
